Zoom is for Business, not for personal conversations

  • July 05, 2020
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Zoom is still a good product for business meetings. I like the ability to "touch up" my appearance, and use backgrounds.
What do you dislike about the product?
I dislike the fact that personal conversations between just two people are now limited to 40 minutes before you are required to have a paid account. Surely with all the business Zoom has, they can afford to host some private one on one meetings without charge.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I continue to use Zoom for business. It is an excellent tool for remote workers.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It's a solid product for business meetings.

Helpful for meetings with clients, coworkers and even webinars!

What do you like best about the product?
I like Zoom because it is easy to use and easy to access. All you have to do is click a link! Plus, it's easy to use for webinars with smaller groups. You can create polls and have everyone come in on mute and without video. The screensharing option is also very helpful for presentations and trainings.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish at times there were a way to completely disable the option for people to be on video and/or off mute. It could be that there isn't due to the level we're on. But it would be helpful at times because people often go off mute without realizing it!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We've used Zoom to stay in contact with our coworkers and supervisors during the pandemic. We've also used it to hold a webinar for prospective clients. It has been very helpful to keep communication channels over.

A good platform for online seminars and online classes also.

What do you like best about the product?
At the time of covid-19 this app was very useful because we were using zoom for online classes and assignments. This app is also useful for seminars. So I like it.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes this app lags because of network issue and to operate this app we require basic things that should be taken care of. We have to be trained to disable all the admin features for the users so that user can only see the screen and could not do any unnecessary things.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Zoom is very helpful for online meetings and also very useful for online classes and assignments. In the time of covid-19 it was solving one of the biggest problems like attending the classes, seminars, interviews, and many more things. Since I'm a recent graduate, so it is very helpful for me to give interviews online. So it is benefiting me in many ways.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
people should go via this app for online classes and seminars also and many more video conferencing

My Zoom experience

  • July 03, 2020
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The ability of Zoom to provide seamless and fantastic user experience for conferencing and group meetings online. Zoom also has a very flexible, lite and less memory intensive appeal that ensures it is able to function even with poor internet connectivity. I think this is very useful property to have because it gives Zoom an edge over rivals in ways that ensures users in environment with low internet penetration or poor connectivity are not excluded completely from the benefits of using conferencing and remote collaboration apps such as Zoom. This is a very beneficial property which I think Zoom can further work on to improve its market share as the conferencing app of choice for users irrespective of their geographical locations or environmental circumstances.
What do you dislike about the product?
The pricing, Zoom currently provides free usage for up to 100 persons, but beyond that it becomes expensive particularly for small businesses. I also think that better user experience design can help Zoom increase its competitiveness and market share in comparison to rivals such as Google, Webex and other conference meeting apps. Another thing that can be considered is how the design of Zoom can be used to improve organisational productivity by adapting it to be more fit for purpose in the office environment that just making it specifically for meetings and conferencing purposes.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Helping us achieve digital transformation by enabling seamless remote working experience
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I believe that a better pricing model would be beneficial in helping Zoom capture more market share

What do you like best about the product?
Zoom makes it so easy to have face to face conversations from the comfort of home.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some clients don’t use zoom and I’m always disappointed when we have to use an alternative.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
No problems other than lack of utilization by clients. Video and sound quality are far superior with zoom as compared to alternatives.

Versatile and Easy to Use, but Know What You Need Before Using!

  • July 02, 2020
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I have used Zoom for two different fields, and obviously, given the current socio-economic climate we are in now with COVID-19, it's easy to see why. It is so easy for just about anyone to pick up and use for video conferencing and calls that require more than 1-4 people attending a meeting/call. The interface and main lobby are easy to navigate and use. I really can't complain about how simple it is, and yet also how easy it is for fields, again speaking for myself, that are as different as a real estate nonprofit versus independent, local theatre arts organizations.

I also very much enjoy how personable Zoom is as an app, and how easy it is to upload different profile pictures/background motifs, etc. I think a lot of this goes a long way to making meetings and virtual gatherings that aren't specifically CLASSES personable and comfortable for other users.
What do you dislike about the product?
While it IS easy to pick up and use, I still have questions regarding security. I am not a primary user of Zoom in my workplace, so I can't speak to the security upgrades, if any, that have been implemented since the massive uptick in using the software since the COVID-19 pandemic really hit full swing. While I do know that meetings can be password protected and that does offer a degree of security, I'm not entirely certain how much more secure meetings are beyond that.

Tracking attendees from registration to actual attendance is more limited, as are sharing of files/documents. It is more designed for meetings and calls, rather than being a virtual classroom and/or learning space. It's not quite as in-depth in terms of time tracking for attendees and usage as my department's specific needs are, and therefore we use GoTo's suite for virtual classes and trainings.

All that is to say that's not necessarily a DISLIKE, but it's more of knowing what you are looking for and needing before deciding on the product itself.

Additionally, we use Zoom as an organization, and I've found it confusing to discern whether or not Meetings or Webinars are what we need for our virtual classes. Additionally, administration of the accounts we use is also at times unclear with regard to best practices.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I have seen Zoom used in several ways over the past view months: formal interdepartmental meetings, artistic organization staff and company gatherings, social/activism-related meetings and talkbacks, so for me the versatility is really the strong suit here. Both the free and paid versions have served all of these meeting needs very, very adequately. I've yet to experience any drops or connection issues, and even though I still have security concerns (ex. "Zoom-bombing"), I have not experienced any firsthand, and so speaking from my own experiences, I assume that that issue has at least been partially addressed.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would put together at least a small or simple checklist of the "must-haves" that your video-conferencing software needs. It may or may not be something that only one application can fully resolve. At my place of employment, we use a combination of Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and GoToTraining/GoToMeeting to fulfill our meeting and video conferencing needs because we have several areas where specific software programs are more appropriate than others.

Zoom - the good and the bad

  • June 30, 2020
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It has been a life savior to substitute for in-person meetings
Still love it even though we can meet in person
What do you dislike about the product?
Non-existent customer service. I have asked through various means to get Live Transcript or any other Captioning which comes automatically and have seen on other Zoom webinars and meetings. No personal response - only referral to frequently asked questions and answers which does not address the issue for people who have hearing impairments.

Live Transcript should be automatic without having people program it before scheduling. It not only serves the hard of hearing community but often, the sound quality of some folks is inferior and helps everyone understand what is being said.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Holding arbitration hearings with Zoom

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I can finish my office work from home . I can coordinate with my colleagues. I chat with my buddies while sitting in home safely and biggest plus point it helps me to attend my classes.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Please use zoom to meet your friends, relatives, collegues and teachers instead of going outside to meet people during current situation around the globe stay at home stay safe and connected to the world through Zoom
