Good and time-efficient in general
What do you like best about the product?
Cloud-based, this allows me to work anywhere with any computer or laptop.
What do you dislike about the product?
There's no function for reimporting a job.
For example, I imported an excel filled with the wrong source and target columns. I have to either
1. delete the job and create a new job with the updated file, or
2. use the "Update source" and "Use target" functions after revising the local file according to the columns submitted.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are a small translation team based in different countries, and Memsource helps us deliver higher-quality translation with TM and TB.
Memsource has been my favorite tool for years. Especially the filtering and searching strings.

Sometimes, a segment entered the TM as 100% and it was hard to distinguish at review
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Translate fast and have all filtering and searching options at hand
Simple and friendly.
What do you like best about the product?
I like how it is easy to learn, intuitive and friendly. As well I appreciate very good customer support. I use Phrase/MS in my class, students like it and also appreciate how easy it is to learn.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some people don't like the cloud concept because they sometimes work with confidential data and do not want to share them. Perhaps if they were encrypted, it would be better.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I usually work with law texts which are full of phrases that repeat, and figures I have to precisely "translate", I am glad I do not check it so much when using Phrase. I definitely work faster with that tool.
Powerful CAT tool that could use improvement
What do you like best about the product?
・Phrase TMS is straightforward to use.
・The Translation Memory and Term Base features make it easy to ensure consistency in documents and across versions.
・As a Mac user, I like that it is browser-based so I can use it on any computer/platform I want, unlike other Windows-only CAT tools.

What do you dislike about the product?
・I wish I could have a unified translator login. I have an account for each agency I work with, and sometimes multiple accounts for different departments within the same agency, so I cannot see all my jobs at once and have to keep track of which project is under which login.
・The site can be a battery hog. I need to have multiple Excel/PDF files and lots of browser tabs open for reference, so the last thing I need is another tool eating up my battery. One of the big perks of the job is being able to work anywhere, but I can't do that with so much battery anxiety.
・The desktop tool is confusing to use, and I still haven't quite figured it out yet. Logging in connects me to the server, but I still need to download the file from the website to feed into the tool. I wish it would just sync instead. If it saves me battery, I would love to use the desktop tool rather than the browser.
・Quality Assurance could be more tuned to language pairs. For example, months are written using numbers in Japanese and words in English (as in 1月→January), and the QA tool tells me I'm missing a number every time. For documents with lots of dates, and agencies that require all QA items to be resolved before submitting, this adds an extra level of inconvenience.

・Phrase TMS solves the problem that other tools create by only being available on a certain platform.

Great, intuitive translation tool with all the basic features that you're looking for in a CAT tool
What do you like best about the product?
The intuitive and clean interface, the desktop editor and the lack of technical requirements for a quick setup before getting going.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't find any particular downsides to this program
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The modernised user interface is more visually more attractive than before
Very convenient CAT Tool
What do you like best about the product?
It is a very convenient tool. It is very easy to search the text by combining the filter and the search function with the underline. The use of the concordance is simple and immediate and applying the TM is very fast thanks to the keyboard shortcuts (contrary to other very famous tools).
What do you dislike about the product?
A lot of "power" is given to agencies, which can greatly limit translators' access to various features, such as analyses, TMs and termbases. The quality of the MT is not up to par with Google's.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is the fastest translation tool, I have direct access to the projects that the agencies have prepared for me, without having to manage packages, receive and send them.
Very good experience translating with Memsource so far
What do you like best about the product?
The pre-translated segments are usually well translated already, saving me a lot of time. I find the user interface very friendly and easy to sue.

I have not spotted anything I dislike so far
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It saves me a lot of time when translating texts from the tourism industry
Handy tool for managing smaller translation projects.
What do you like best about the product?
Simple for linguists, license distribution is easy and user-friendly.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not really convenient for managing large and complex localization projects, tons of clicking instead of mass actions, Hungarian alternative is miles ahead in this.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We mostly use it as an MT running environment.
Good integrations, useful for updating live copy, devs like it - but not a great translation tool.
What do you like best about the product?
I like how every key is easily traceable and can be updated and pushed live without needing to update anything on the development side. Other tools might need cumbersome exports/imports or similar.
What do you dislike about the product?
Phrase is not able to pull leverage properly, so translators charge for the full word count. Concordance search is really slow. Licenses are not floating so if you have multiple translators doing small copy, you would need to acquire as many licenses as languages.

The ability to propagate translations where we need them quickly, once the integration is set up this is seamless.

What do you like best about the product?
User-friendly, comfortable, straightforward, comprehensive in regard to its role as a CAT tool, and has a simple layout. Best for starting-out translators who are trying to find their way around with CAT tools.

There have been serious issues with a RTL language like Arabic, in the past, but now it seems they have fixed them.
The TB (Term Base) function works a bit weirdly in Memsource; if part of the word matches a saved term, it suggests that term, which makes the process inconvenient when it's time for the QA. For example, if the name "Mark" is a saved term (as in a person's name), and a given segment includes the word "marketing" (as in business), Memsource would suggest the saved transliteration of the name "Mark" for that segment.

Memsource makes translation easy. Just like any CAT tool, I can use its features (like segmenting the source text and using Translation Memories) to make translation more convenient for me, but what's special about Memsource is its simple and comfortable layout. Memsource is also used by many agencies, and being familiar with it qualifies me to work with them.
