A great tool for teaching and learning CAT technologies
What do you like best about the product?
Memsource is very practical and easy to use because of its user-friendly and intuitive interface. The students love using it, especially when they're working together on translation projects.
It is very flexible too in terms of project management and cloud-based system. We had many projects and therefore we had the opportunity to test its capabilities. Some functions are really helpful in this case, such as assigning jobs to translators (in a very easy way), splitting the file that needs to be translated or the option for multiple languages in TMs or TBs.
Moreover, Web Editor allows students to work freely and independently without the need to install any additional software on their computer or without any restriction.

Nothing, everything is OK! I recommend this software.

We also really appreciate the academic licensing policy, this is particularly important for universities and the courses on CAT Tools.
An intuitive CAT tool and translation management system, ideal for academic purposes
What do you like best about the product?
As a university teacher, I like the simplicity and integrity of the system; the students can quickly grasp the essentials of translation management, trying both sides of a translation project - the role of a linguist and that of a project manager.
What do you dislike about the product?
The problems are not connected with Memsource itself, but with academia being somewhat out of touch with the real translation industry tasks, challenges, and workflows. It might be difficult for beginners to simulate true-to-life working situations.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Having access to Phrase Academic Edition, our University can train the students to become professional translators. They create and complete translation projects; some of the students do volunteer translations under our supervision. The Academic Edition of the TMS offers effective solutions of translation routine; the platform's user-friendly interface allows the students to effortlessly navigate the platform and quickly learn necessary skills.
An absolute life saver!
What do you like best about the product?
It solves a very real problem. Localization can be such a pain, and with Phrase it becomes seamless. Not just because it allows for quick turnaround, but more because it allows you to invite people to translate for you etc... seamlessly. I had to translate 250 lines to a crazy language, and it was as easy as creating an user for the translator, give him access to just the right texts and done. Amazing.
Another problem that solves for us is that, many times you dont really need a translation... but you need quick edits on the texts etc... and for that Phrase is a total lifesaver.

Honestly nothing. Phrase has been great from day 1.

What do you like best about the product?
Memsource is just the best. They offer a complete service, including webinars and trainings held by passionate instructors, and as far as I know they are free and are meant for pure learning of the platform.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's all great, really. It may lag sometimes, but it will still save segments so they can be saved at a later time when internet is available/no server issues are found.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I'm managing quality of complex projects for big clients. It's so easy to use, customizable, user friendly. I feel more productive, everything is at your fingertip!

Supporting multiple languages on a product and getting the correct translations. With phrase it's easy to add language's and also managing translators is also more efficient
Memsource is a free program that is easy to learn and user-friendly
What do you like best about the product?
The best thing about Memsource is its availability. Even less-advantaged universities and low/no-income students can benefit from the program. It is easy to learn as the steps you need to take are intuitive. The alignment option, as well as the TB/TM building, make translation much speedier and more effective. I also appreciate the possiblty to continue with Memsource using personal accounts even after students finish my course.
What do you dislike about the product?
Since I've been teaching the Translators' Tools course, I signed up my students as project managers. On the one hand, it enabled them to learn how to create and manage their projects, but on the other, they could monitor other students' work. Would there be any possibility of limiting access to just individual students' projects, allowing them to be project managers simultaneously? Secondly, it would be helpful to train TB to recognize more extensive parts of lexical items even if their ending differs from the object inserted in TB? I try to insert just word roots to make them more recognizable, but it would be helpful to have another option at hand,
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am training my students to use modern translator tools. Other programs are too costly, and Memsource is the only one I can use with my students year after year without limiting myself to a trial period or trial version.
An excellent solution for many translation, project management and teaching scenarios
What do you like best about the product?
Memsource has a very clear interface while at the same time it allows you to carry out complex projects and customize many of the different resources and actions you can perform with it. Memsource is always improving its features and their support people do listen to you.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some actions or features may take longer due to Memsource's cloud orientation. However, that problem can be solved if the desktop application (for Windows, Mac or Linux) is used for the translation and revision work.

The learning curve is not very steep. Thanks to the many years of experience with cloud and project-based CAT solutions, there are many things that can be customized to allow for different project types, workflows, and teaching and learning styles!
Collaboration booster
What do you like best about the product?
Being able to experience the role of manager and of linguist is one of the features my students (and I) like the most. Memsource is very easy to use and manage and allows students to understand the workflow better - they are assigned roles as linguists, reviewers and managers (in separate turns) and are able to have first-hand experience as translators.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is nothing I dislike about Memsource.

I wanted my student to have a better grasp of the workflow of a translation project and be able to use a cloud-based, user-friendly translation tool.
The best CAT tool on the market
What do you like best about the product?
It is the most efficient and simple CAT Tool on the market. The ease of handling it is only compared to the efficiency in producing huge texts with great agility, consistency, and following all the rules that the Project Manager needs the linguist to follow to carry out the work. It's very intuitive, so it's practically accessing and getting started.
What do you dislike about the product?
For real: NOTHING! As I said earlier, the tool's ability to be intuitive is one of the things I like most about Memsource.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Agility in deliveries, shorter deadlines for carrying out large and small projects, ease of splitting and monitoring projects being carried out (and quick action taken, when there is a need to exchange resources), variety of files that the tool reads.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
There is no CAT tool on the market that serves the entire lifecycle of a translation project as well as Memsource currently does.

What do you like best about the product?
Phrase (formerly Memsource) is very easy to use, intuitive, which makes working with it easy. Another plus is that you can open multiple files simultaneously for large projects.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not much I dislike except for when I open a file to work on, I always have to change screen layout as it does not seem to remember my preferred setting. Not a big deal but at times annoying.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use it through some agencies I work for, so there is no direct benefit to me or my direct clients.
