Second Brain, with AI

  • June 11, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Ability of Notion to turn into what it needs to be, for the specific use case, with pre-created templates, that I can create/customise. For my sales discussions, for internal research, internal meetings, personal notes, each of these are different use cases, where I want to capture specific information, which templates allow.

Notion AI added a great feature, to be able to create and summarise my meeting mintues, and then came the update with ability to search through all the notes, and get a key understanding, 'when did i speak with this prospect'. This is very valuable.

I have been using Notion on a daily basis, 5~7 calls per day. When the work changed, my usage reduced to capturing notes and using my workspace as repository.
What do you dislike about the product?
The way the templates are fluid, it may also come in the way of being able to capture the information. Page integration is something I found confusing to understand and use.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Capturing notes seamlessly and summarising the information captured

Offers the ability to customize Notion according to how I prefer my information flow to look

  • June 10, 2024
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

Primarily, two things: one is arranging my day-to-day to-do lists or activities, and secondly for note-taking.

How has it helped my organization?

Notion has improved or could improve our team's productivity. Because of its flexibility, we arrange A LOT OF things in Notion, starting from engineering maintenance, to-do lists, team allocation, and financial planning—a lot of activities happen in a single centralized repository. I think that's a major value addition to my team.

Notion has a lot of integrations. We use two or three, like the Notion with Slack integration and the Notion with GitHub integration. We adapt our working process according to the features provided.

What is most valuable?

I like mostly the flexibility. I can customize Notion according to how I prefer my information flow to look. The flexibility is the best thing that I like about Notion.

What needs improvement?

There are a lot of things, but one thing that is absolutely necessary is the mobile application. They need to work on the mobile application quite a lot because the experience and speed on the web version are nowhere near that of the mobile app.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using it for two years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

From the stability point of view, I'll rate it at seven out of ten.

So, there is some downtime, primarily because many of my team members are mobile and cannot fully utilize the mobile application.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

There are around 20 end users using it. I would rate the scalability a nine out of ten. It is pretty scalable.

How are customer service and support?

We contacted them a couple of times. The mobile application issue is a known issue. They are working on it, but it may take a few months to fix.

They are very responsive.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I also use Asana for project management. I have explored Atlassian. We work with a lot of client projects, and different customers have their requirements. So we want their internal project management tool to be utilized by our consultants while consulting to those customers. We have explored a few other project management tools like Atlassian and ClickUp.

I generally prefer using Notion because of the flexibility. Though my team uses Asana, so I still need to at least oversee or monitor it. These are the primary project management or productivity tools that we use.

How was the initial setup?

It is not very smooth. There are still some friction points, but things can be worked around. If you are a technical person, Notion setup is very easy.

If you are a non-technical person, you might face some challenges.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Notion has priced very aggressively. It's pretty affordable.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I still prefer Notion because it's a superset of Asana. It is not as feature-rich as Asana, but it offers a lot of additional flexibility and features that outweigh the shortcomings.

What other advice do I have?

Overall, I would rate the solution an eight out of ten.

It's great for documenting many things and gives you a lot of freedom, but sometimes it seems too much.

What do you like best about the product?
You have a lot of freedom to create pages with different layouts that will serve you in the way that works best for you.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes you have too many features and it becomes a bit difficult to understand how to achieve a result that you already envision but don't know how to accomplish.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Serve as a single repository of content for everything my business area needs. Content, projects, links, history, all in one place and organized by ourselves.

What do you like best about the product?
It is very simplistic, easy to collaborate and very effective in nite taking. It helps us in managing our timelines, creating a knowledge base and tracking our goals and timelines.
What do you dislike about the product?
What I dislike about notion is it's buggy UI which becomes a hassle to navigate at times when the number of documents becomes a lot. It starts showing glitches at times.

Notion helps us in creating the knowledge base for our organisation, documenting all the steps and procedures for new features development. We also use it to share runbooks with our devops team for deployments. Apart from this it is a great tool for taking personal notes, like saving passwords or reminders etc.
