Easy to use, pleasant experience for all-company documentation

  • February 14, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Easy to use and buttons and commands are intuitive. Shortcuts like /divider to create dividers, for instance, provide some neat organization that might otherwise be overlooked.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's difficult to find a "back" button or "undo" for documentation, especially if you accidentally edit over someone's writing.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Company wiki and all-company documentation for different departments to provide a good resource for others in different departments and new hires.

An amazing idea and product

What do you like best about the product?
I like the way that Notion is organized. Indeed, it gives a wide range of possibilities to create and customize dashboards and workspaces. I use Notion to keep track of my progress, whether it is for personal or professional purposes. I appreciate that it is useable on Desktop and Smartphones, allowing me to choose one to work with, depending on the day.
What do you dislike about the product?
I think the major issue with Notion is the onboarding process. It gets difficult to set up and understand how Notion works initially. It could be a great point to improve for future users. Moreover, the apps (not website) are sometimes lagging, creating massive freezes.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It helps me get organized with the different projects I have to work on. Collaborating with other colleagues is an incredible feature that allows me to get the team's latest updates.

What do you like best about the product?
Notion helps to sort topics and ideas in a meaningful and creative way. It provides a clear view of ongoing projects and allows you to share pages with colleagues and friends.
What do you dislike about the product?
Notion provides many nice features. It is also great that it is compatible on smartphones with an app. I would like to see an AI tool integrated to the platform, it would make the service perfect!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Notion to take notes during meetings or to keep track of the knowledge I acquire while reading books and articles. It is also an effective tool for project management to check the level of completion of different tasks.

Notable Notion!

What do you like best about the product?
What I really liked about Notion is that it allowed for easy creation of website. It was easy that you are able to create a portfolio website in a flash. Also, that it allows for easy access of your board on Miro. And, not to forget that I am able to do project management in it as well!
What do you dislike about the product?
What's there to not like? Nothing. Loved Notion. Everything you need seems to be there. But let me think. What can Notion do to make my experience better? For now, none. But would definitely help to get more than the 1k blocks allowed for free membership. Hehe.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Project management and a lot more! Helped me in creating a simple website for portfolio. But there's a lot more I havent played with yet. I know there's a lot more to learn and a lot more valuable features I havent discovered yet.

Useful

What do you like best about the product?
I like that notion is easy to use. I keep a lot of things in there. I also like that with a little digging, you can create many custom solutions, integrate databases, and build your own knowledge management system or project management system. I use it for personal projects, class notes reviews and everything else.
What do you dislike about the product?
I would like if notion offered a backup feature to export your data regularly as md files maybe. It might be a little hard with databases and stuff, but at the least the basic building blocks of pages. I think those can be downloaded as md files.
I would also like an 'open in a new page' button when right-clicking pages.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I have several personal projects that I like to keep track of in notion. I also keep notes from classes I take. Overall it's making me more productive I think.

What do you like best about the product?
I really like Notion's flexibility. Notes can have many different types of content including text, PDFs, links, photos, and videos. You can connect to more than 20 apps like Google Drive, GitHub, Slack, Dropbox and even Zoom. I'm not very familiar with databases, but using them in Notion is very intuitive and almost addictive. I keep finding more ways tomake my life simpler every time I use them.
What do you dislike about the product?
Creating a task list is not easy. It's simple to add a due date to any note or database. But it's just not possible to create a standalone list of tasks due for a specific date or topic from all of your notes and databases. Yes, you can see a list if you go to the main menu and select Updates > Inbox. But you cannot embed a customized version of this list on any of your pages. Frustrating.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's making it easier to find and reuse processes that I've created. The search function is very good. I spend less time looking for information that I know I have and more time creating with it.

Great note taking software, mostly correctly executed with some room for improvement

  • February 14, 2023

What do you like best about the product?
Very easy to enter text and data into. Great shortcuts for various tasks. Great for inserting, embedding images and files. App lets me capture handwritten notes easily and bin into an inbox which I can then go back to my computer to re-organize. Table and database very customizable. Served as my notetaking and notebook entry for the most parts. Overall, I prefer it over OneNote and EverNote. Probably one of the best if not the best notetaking app out there.
What do you dislike about the product?
Need to built in more general-user intuition rather than Notion-specific quirks. For example, if I move cursor before some text, then enter the shortcut for heading, instead of creating heading before the initial text, it creates heading after (?!#). Also, table and database entry table needs to be more Excel-like (sorry guys, 99% of us were used to Excel before Notion came along) - do not try to re-invent cell entry beyond Excel based on your own (programmer's) idiosyncratic habits. If I move to cell and start to type, overwrite the original text (that's what Excel does, if I want to append, I will click within it); selecting cells is much harder than Excel - again, don't try to re-invent table cell entry. Template creation is also not the most intuitive and took some time to get the hang of it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Customizable timeline display over just note taking.

Great tool

What do you like best about the product?
There's tons of flexibility in how you take notes...tasks in databases, make templates for one on one notes, link between topics, etc. Really enjoy how it helps me to think through topics.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's a blank slate. There are preconfigured templates you can pick from to help get you started, but you need to have an idea about what you want to achieve as you go into it and how your topics fit together; otherwise, you don't take advantage of all it has to offer.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I was able to have one tool that let me take basic notes, but also use project/topic templates, and still bring all the information together centrally.

Generally Amazing, with improvements to be made

  • February 14, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The fact that I can organise my thoughts and ideas in an organized and intuitive way. For work, it has been immensely helpful since I am generally messy. Also, for planning things and making graphs, the different integrations with a lot of apps makes it simple to create a centralised ecosystem, which I highly appreciate.
What do you dislike about the product?
Lags, definitely. The response time is often longer than I would like it. Also, the fact that time (days, hours, minutes, seconds) hasn't yet been added as database value: it would help tremendously to create a time budget. Also the fact Google Agenda hasn't yet been integrated into Notion, and I'm not the first one to say this. Unless, of course, the Notion team makes the built-in Notion calendar on par with Google Agenda.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Mind mapping, ideas think-tank, synchronizing work within a team. It's a ridiculously powerful app also for budgeting matters, as well as building frameworks, among other things.

Overall a great product, with exceptional flexibility. It's easy though to get yourself in trouble.

What do you like best about the product?
As a platform, Notion has a relatively easy new user experience and is extremely extensible, with many options for customization and opportunities to record, relate and display data.
What do you dislike about the product?
As the API was only rolled out in May 2021 there is a limited number of good, useful integrations that are available. The other major pain point for us is the lack of user roles, there are only two "Workspace Owner", and "Member." And while there are options available at the teamspace/page level for "guests" it would be extremely helpful to have more options available for those internal to the workspace.

(A more minor current annoyance is that the platform doesn't always allow a user to select a template after the content of an existing page is cleared.)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Notion is currently serving as our "one-stop shop" for almost all information in the business. It's our CRM, project management, team knowledgebase, SOP repository, and day-to-day task manager. Previous to utilizing Notion, we had many different systems that we were attempting to keep synchronized with all of this information and that was challenging. Now it's much easier to find needed information, stay on track, and provide better, more consistent support to our clients.

When it comes down to it, the question is what isn't Notion touching? :) Of course, the biggest challenge with it all being in one place is building/adapting the platform as we shift and grow. But even with that, short of custom-coding our own solution, Notion has been one of the best investments we've made for internal software.
