Great Design, Basically Unusable Due to Extreme Lag Across All Apps and Web

  • October 26, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The modular, elegant design makes it not only a note-taking tool to best the traditional players like Evernote, but a powerful all-in-one work management tool for things like project management, documentation, meeting agendas, and much more. The fact that everything is a page and you can create databases of pages with relationships to each other (e.g. database of clients with relationship to a tasks database, so you can tie a client-specific task to that client) makes it one of the most powerful no-code solutions for creating a digital business's workspace.
What do you dislike about the product?
It can be slow when you have complex pages with lots of different blocks, references to databases, and/or synced blocks. They've been improving speed issues progressively and lately I've only experienced this in rare cases, and when page setups may just simply be too complex and in need of re-architecting.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Workflows like newsletter and blog production, meeting agendas, notebooks, databases of various things we want to save e.g. ideas for future newsletters or sources of inspiration, newsletter and blog writing with the help of the built-in AI assistant.

Only good, but getting better

What do you like best about the product?
- Notion is a relatively easy to platform to use from a user standpoint (creating pages, viewing pages)
- Clean looking pages, no frills UI, intuitive menu layout
- Tons of ways to customize pages
- Great list of 3rd party integrations, including G Suite
- Their Support Team is responsive and helpful
What do you dislike about the product?
- Notion is a relatively hard platform to Admin. I believe they may have made some changes recently, but limiting access to certain pages for certain users is a bit cumbersome.
- For the "Team" plan at $8 per user, the amount of content you can create is based on "Blocks". Most small to medium teams will blow right past their 1,000 block limit. Upgrading to the "Enterprise" plan with unlimited blocks at $20 per user is quite a jump in price.
- From the author's standpoint, the clean and open nature of their pages can sometimes feel overwhelming. When starting with such a blank page, it's sometimes hard to know where to start, ultimately leading to writer's block. There are standardized templates, but I feel like for non-creative minded people like myself it's hard to get going. You really need to first envision how you would like your page to look before getting started, rather than write and re-arrange later like I tend to do.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Having an easy-to-use and accessible knowledge center is a must for small-sized companies trying to scale. The goal should be to reduce the amount of time employees spend looking for information, including new hires. In small-sized companies, knowledge tends to be handed down verbally or located in multiple places, thus making it difficult to find. We ran into this issue as our company was growing, but the biggest challenge is creating ownership for updating the information.

Notion: The epitome of software high performance

  • October 19, 2021

What do you like best about the product?
THE UI. It's sweet eye candy with the usability of a wizard. I have been writing PRDs and managing the product roadmap for more than six months now, and it feels effortless. There have been very few products apart from Apple which I can say that these "just works." Mostly it is so flexible that anything you want to imagine you can do. Be it embedding wireframes and mocks, managing roadmaps and teams. There are products that are built for a specific use case than there are products that empower the user to create any use case.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's quite slow and feels annoying sometimes. I particularly love the Spotlight-like feature in every product, be it Webflow or Superhuman, but sadly Notion lacks behind in this one, and the search is not up to the mark both in terms of functionality and in terms of speed as well.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I currently use Notion for:
1. Documentation
2. Managing the product roadmap
3. Managing the product team

It feels nice, and as I said, it just works, and I like the simplicity yet how robust the platform is. There are a ton of benefits that I can list, but I'll restrict to the best ones:

1. Ease of use
2. Almost zero learning curve
3. Flexibility
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Just try it and see if you can get free credits under the startup program, you can get 1000$

    Non-Profit Organization Management

What do you like best about the product?
I love how Notion allows me to have a little bit of structure, but is also flexible enough for whatever I need.
What do you dislike about the product?
The interface can be a little frustrating to use - like when I want to format text, it would be nice if when I highlighted text I saw options like Medium.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's a great thinking space when I don't quite need Miro.

A1 Productivity tool!

  • October 11, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Notion is easily the best productivity tool there is for a company - large or small. It's a one stop shop that teams can use to collaborate, delegate, and manage, keep everything organized and keep a track of their goals and tasks. It is very easy to use - one can create pages from scratch, color code them and even duplicate pages. It is also so simple to edit something in this. Above all, it makes working in a team so transparent and smooth.
What do you dislike about the product?
I feel it can offer a little more options in terms of fonts and colors. The interface can be bettered too.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Notion to define, track and manage individual as well as team goals. We also use its 'public' feature to announce our event details. It just makes team collaboration really easy, transparent and healthy.

    Staffing and Recruiting

The best software for startups and productivity

  • October 09, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The software can be used for a wide range of purposes, including taking notes, creating to-do lists, managing projects, and organizing information. This flexibility makes it a great tool for a variety of different users, including students, professionals, and teams.Notion offers strong collaboration and sharing capabilities, which can be useful for teams or individuals working with others on projects.
What do you dislike about the product?
otion has limited integration with other software or systems. While the software has some integration capabilities, it may not be as comprehensive as other productivity tools. This can be an issue for users who rely heavily on integration with other tools or systems.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I struggle with keeping track of my work, tasks, and ideas; at times, I may have to use various tools and systems to manage this information. The notion is designed to bring all of these elements together in one place, which can help users to streamline their workflow and improve productivity.

Customizability at its best, a rich community and constant innovation

  • September 30, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Notion lives up to its claims of an all-in-one productivity workspace. From maintaining lecture notes that can be structured based on customized templates, to keeping track of class attendances, top questions and points to discuss in class using calendars, to using timeline views to manage schedules, Notion has helped me and my tech-starved colleagues to take to the fully online mode of instruction very aptly.

Access sharing is easy, pages can be exported to PDF/CSV to be sent to administrative staff, and stuff is way more organized in the hierarchical structure than it was with the Google Docs-Google Drive combo that we used earlier.
What do you dislike about the product?
The mobile app could use some responsive improvement. A lot of the times, moving around tasks and delegating them to other departments needs to happen when one is not in contact of a physical machine, and it's a pain to do it on the mobile app. Integration support with GCal has also been a long time coming, and having to make do with community driven third party tools works, but isn't good enough as a native integration
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Problems being solved :

- Attendance management
- Lecture notes
- Class schedules
- Theses planning
- Seminar flow planning
Benefits
- Single document store to house variety of use cases and artifacts in a hierarchical fashion
- Extremely customizable, meaning that it tweaks to our requirement, not the other way round
- Appealing to the eye - we actually feel like using it, rather than looking at it with the same dread with which we open our emails
