Great for tracking product features and timelines across a complex product.

  • April 21, 2021
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The ability to group features under components made it much easier to track what we wanted to build. Trello and GitHub projects (our previous solutions) required managing a large number of projects and boards, there was no way to get a holistic view of our product backlog or do prioritization.
What do you dislike about the product?
Our engineering tasks are tracked in github issues, but github tickets cannot be imported to productboard. When engineers create tickets in github, it is hard for us to track or we have to manually recreate them.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
* Product feature tickets are now organized around the product instead of the development team
* Roadmaps by swimlane allow us to see what each development team (backend, frontend, mobile) are working on and where one team is blocked by another
* Roadmaps by releases helped bring clarity to the executive team on when product updates will be available to our customers

It has been of great help to me when I want to organize all our products in a simpler way

What do you like best about the product?
Its ease in terms of use is something that is quite easy to learn, not to mention that the design of its interface is quite intuitive which allows any user to use this application without any problem or inconvenience, In fact, it has allowed me to carry out in a much more orderly and systematized way, which allows me to reduce in a fairly efficient and practical way the execution times of our tasks quite quickly and practically, their customer service team is quite fast When responding to any questions or concerns that may arise while we use this application, the ease with which we can add any product is quite impressive, in fact this allows us to perform all our tasks without much inconvenience.
What do you dislike about the product?
To be honest I have no complaints about the use of this application, I find it quite practical when it comes to wanting to simplify and automate a wide variety of tasks and activities within our organization in a very practical and fast way.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It has been being a great help to me when I want to organize in a simpler, simpler and faster way all our products in such a way that we can automate and optimize the whole process of our work in a much more practical way. , safe and efficient.

Great tool with full customer feedback loop, potential feature analytics, and roadmapping.

What do you like best about the product?
I really love how comprehensive this tool is. This tool allows you to collect customer feedback into one convenient inbox, tag all the feedback to different ideas, create metrics for analyzing all the ideas, and then use their analytics tools to develop a data driven product roadmap.
What do you dislike about the product?
Because the product is so customizable, it can take some time to get everything set up the way you want it, but it's really an incredible tool once you've got it right.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We've been able to get a much more data driven product roadmap instead of relying largely on the directives we receive from the higher ups in the company. We're also working on getting this set up to where it completes the feedback loop and notifies interested parties when we complete major milestones.

Feedback features disappointing & product evolution painfully slow

  • August 11, 2020

What do you like best about the product?
Productboard is an end to end solution dedicated to product management. It's a beautiful application, it truly has some of the best user controls I've worked with for many years and it has a great integration with Jira.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's quite complex to implement and you have log into it daily to view feedback from users as there is no Slack integration to surface these insights outside of Productboard. They advertise a Slack integration but this just shares updates from internal users and is useless in all honesty.

The biggest issue is one that I have communicated to Productboard over and over - its not possible to create a seamless 360-degree feedback loop with users. In fact, the user feedback functionality is so poor we are currently reviewing alternatives such as Canny which will allow users to search for features, warn the user they are suggesting a duplicate feature candidate, send recent submissions to keep users engaged and enable us to easily post updates to users when a feature they suggested or voted on has been shipped.

They've been slow on developing public API's, only just last month adding a Notes endpoint 😂😂😂. They've been advertising a public API for over a year and there's a single POST notes endpoint to show for it!

The worst part is as a solution for Product Management they're poor at the fundamentals - your own suggestions/ideas are submitted into the abyss, never to be acknowledged, responded to or actioned. I even connected with a senior team member to pass this feedback on and he was shocked, but nothing changed. They have such a large team of +170 employees - I can't figure out what they do with all these resources.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
A public roadmap and idea's portal to gain feedback from users.

An internal tool for collecting functionality candidates, aggregating feedback, prioritising and then internally communicating progress.

Planning product roadmap visually makes everything clear

  • September 26, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The Productboard has useful and nice interface design and is very easy to use. I can easily plan product roadmaps from general to the finest details. Prioritization scores of product features are calculated automatically according to different parameters. Thus, we can clearly see which feature we should develop first. User feedback and tools for collecting new ideas are also outdated and very useful. We can also include our users in our product development processes.
What do you dislike about the product?
Using the Productboard first time it should be confusing to make a setup according to your needs, but when the system understood everything gets clear and runs smoothly. Although it has very different layouts, you may not be able to create a layout for your specific needs.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
With Productboard, we can manage our product roadmap easily and collaboratively. All levels of employees transparently see the product roadmap whenever they need. By this way, everyone in the company owns the product and understand the vision.

Solid Product Feedback and Planning in One Tool

  • September 06, 2019
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
ProductBoard makes it simple and trivial to receive feedback, structure a product and engineering facing roadmap, and link those features to insights and JIRA tickets. Without delving into the details too much, ProductBoard gives product enough information to sort and plan features and accept feedback, avoiding the classic "black hole" that new requests and changes typically fall into. We also use the Slack and JIRA integrations to route feedback to a central place and link it to tickets in the backlog or in flight.
What do you dislike about the product?
The product portal feature could use improvement, making it easier to accept and share new ideas. Otherwise, recent improvements to JIRA and feature planning have quickly eliminated my major issues. The have a rapid development process and add new features often, based on community-generated ideas and concerns. Even if I've had an issue, it was normally resolved within a few spring cycles.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Internal feature planning, product feedback collection, roadmapping, and prioritization.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Think about your SDLC and find the tool that fits best. Do not try to mash a tool into a unique lifecycle.

It made our complex framework easier to build

  • July 18, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
We use Jira, Slack, and G-Suite. It was really easy to integrate these tools with the Product Board. That took off some part of the workload and made the lives easier.
What do you dislike about the product?
I really had not faced issues using the tool. Some of my team members had small issues with a code repo integration and it was solved quickly.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Creating a testing framework that includes both functional and non-functional aspects was our brainchild. It was kinda a complex framework that needed attention to detail to bring it to reality and the productboard helped us to do that. We had micro-teams working on different modules of the framework and had unique targets to meet. The tool helped us to focus on the need for this sprint(since we follow Scrum) and eliminate the low priority details to bring in maximum productivity.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you want to make complex goals easier, go for the tool.

Great way to showcase your roadmap and manage your product org

  • May 16, 2019
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The product is decently well designed to keep track of features/components, build schedules, and things like that. It's a good product roadmap tool in that sense.
What do you dislike about the product?
[Removed: They fixed this - there's no path to scale with this product.

I want to have my product team own the roadmap, but open it up for other team members to see or provide comments/requests. They've continued to limit this feature - there used to be a "contributor - roadmap viewer only role" that they eliminated to make it harder to share.

So if you're a team of 30 people, with 5 product folks, and 25 others who you want to share the roadmap with so the team is in the loop, you have no way to do that. Attempts to email the team and see if there's a solution around this or a way to use productboard that lets the broader team be in the loop on the roadmap have all hit walls.]
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Tracking our product development roadmap, prioritize features, and create transparency for the team.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
[removed: they fixed this - Don't do it. It's a great product if they just made it with the customers in mind. Instead, they're trying to maximize dollars at the expense of the customer experience. In other words, you're the victim here. ]

PS - if my review seems negative, it's because I invested a lot of time setting up product board, only to have to discontinue use because they completely took away the ability for me to continue to use it.

A must have tool for Product Teams

  • March 13, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
What I like best about ProductBoard is that product teams can have in one tool all information needed to develop a better product. Customer feedback from tools like Intercom you can send directly to their platform, for example. I remember having to find out feature requests was easy, I just had to add some filters to my search, group the contacts and start analyzing who were they and what they were requesting. With this information it was easy to share with the rest of the product team and even the rest of the company.
What do you dislike about the product?
When I used it they didn't have a public roadmap that we could share easily. Not sure if they have it now (I think so). It was a problem because in order to present what we were doing to the marketing and sales team, I had to log in and use my own account. It was not a big of a problem, but sometimes you just want a place that you can share without risking exposing data that you're not supposed to share.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We needed a place to keep all product development information and keep all people working with the product aligned. This was the main reason we started using ProductBoard. It was so good that we started using it more and more as source of information for product discovery as well, as we could gather user data within ProductBoard. It helped us develop a better product for sure.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
They have a nice feature to tag and match conversations to specific ideas (e.g. features you are developing) you are managing in ProductBoard. My recommendation is to plan and think carefully the naming of theses tags so you can keep organized. You don't want to have different tags that are meant to be the same thing because it makes it harder to organize information.
