Hop on the Productboard train!

What do you like best about the product?
Overall all the features are really great in the Pro plan so far. I love all the different templates to present our Roadmaps with very little effort. The Product Portal for users to submit ideas, and the inbox they go into to be processed, tagged, and linked to current features. I really love how everything is connected, if I'm in my roadmap, I don't have to navigate away to see insights, comments, details, subfeatures linked, due dates etc.. We integrated with Jira and it's so freakin' easy to work on a feature in Productboard, then just click Push to move it to Jira, you select the project and board you want to move it too and that's it, your're done!

Another exciting thing about Productboard is that they are always working to optimize the experience. This tool will be gold for me once I can automate as much as possible (like auto tag feedback coming in, place it into the proper collection, link to features) and they release their feature that's in progress right now to have a shareable link for our Stakeholders.

I'm looking forward to using the prioritization matrix on the Scale plan too, we are going to upgrade in the next couple months most likely. I did get to use it when we had our free trial though and it was really neat. I love that it fills in the values for you for the value and effort scores based on your placement on the Matrix. We use to do an excercise like this with the dev team in mural but it was so much prep work to set that up. Zero prep in here after you create them directly in Producboard, or have the cards created in Jira and bulk push them in.
What do you dislike about the product?
If you manage multiple products, all the feedback goes into one inbox, and you have to manually tag, sort into the correct collection, and link features. You can't have tags prepopulated for the team to use; you have to create the tags as you need them. When you use a tag at least once, it'll appear in your list of tags though.

I would love integrations with Hubspot, Helpscout, and a more robust integration with Jira so I don't have to update the roadmap manually. It would be awesome if as a card moves through its lifecycle in Jira, it updates accordingly in Producboard.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Mainly having a colorful, visual Roadmap for the Stakeholders and executives. Having a place to gather feedback. I have google forms for internal use to submit feature requests, and I use Zapier to get that into Productboard. The Slack extension is cool to send information into Productboard as well.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Check that they have the integrations you need. If you are managing more than one product and will be using more than on Product Portal be aware all the feedback goes into one inbox. Hopefully this is addressed soon.

Really helps our lean team keep so many threads under control

What do you like best about the product?
When we adopted ProductBoard we were looking for a tool that would allow us to organize our products into clear buckets of value and tie that back to various views for managing engineering, stakeholder communication, and our own research and discovery processes.

So far (it's been about 6months), we've effectively managed the project management bits of execution with eng to keep status well represented and keep iterating on the key movers ie. design/requirements/UAT, etc.

We've also leveraged Portal as a way to keep stakeholders at bay and as a resource for all completed features to contain release notes, demo videos, etc.

The tool is incredibly powerful given the right amount of time to experiment with various setups. The flexibility forces you to think about the organization of your products which produces clarity, ie. you have a lot of freedom to group and work by releases, objectives, etc and being able to truly think about your objectives against the broader product organization forces good thinking time about the product vs simply chasing the next "task". This has helped instill good habits in our more JR PMs.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish there were better ways to organize features not just by hierarchy but almost by versions of similar products we want to produce. We are a B2B SASS that tends to need to iterate more on our customer's cycles for our big bang stuff, and don't leverage similar patterns to your heavy A/B B2C product tendencies. There are ways to achieve this but versioning/treating PB as a true repository of the products is hard to get a good visual of. Maybe something that mindmaps features to allow your product to be visually represented as relationships / nested articles would be helpful as a complement to the hierarchy view.

More concrete ask... I wish could nest multiple groupings much like Airtable. I sometimes want to see a release + objectives or teams within vs having very long lists by release or needing to break out various releases for various teams. Right now the 1 level of grouping in non-hierarchy views is a bit painful for us.

Lastly, I wish there were better ways to capture feedback / organize feedback. This includes having not only the feedback repository but a way to see key clients and all feedback grouped into that key client + roadmapped items in progress aligned with their needs to assist in any areas where we need to help manage a relationship. All this research is hard to put together.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Team maturity in thinking through their respective products, managing various projects and cycles, ensuring completeness, stakeholder transparency (where warranted with controls and access), feedback capture.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
We tried ProductPlan and other competitor solutions, the cost may seem like a barrier to entry but if implemented well, it can solve enough organizational pain to make it a positive return. Take the leap.

What do you like best about the product?
It's one source of truth for our product planning & customer research & feedback. Everyone on the team knows what we're working on and what's coming next. It gives everyone all information and context they need. We love Productboard! ❤️
What do you dislike about the product?
There's nothing we don't like. We would love a desktop app at some point.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Getting our team aligned on product vision and roadmap

My go-to tool for turning qualitative data into quantitative data.

  • May 26, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like that ProductBoard is customer-focused and allows us to make product decisions and a roadmap based on input from a variety of sources (email, customer support, surveys, etc.).
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish I could filter feature views by the way I've tagged our customers.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Showing C-Level folks qualitative data I've distilled from quantitative work. Updating a roadmap based on customer feedback and business goals. Pairing business objectives with customer needs. Giving our VIP customers an email to post feedback and ideas.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Beautifully designed product with well thought out features. Product Board releases new features regularly and has become one of my must-have tools as a product person.

Productboard allows me to maintain an organized, up-to-date database of qualitative feedback

  • May 26, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Productboard makes it easy to quickly work through hundreds of pieces of qualitative feedback from many different sources and people. I can then tie that feedback to research insights and feature ideas to inform product decisions at any time.
What do you dislike about the product?
Productboard is oriented toward the product roadmap, but sometimes I just want to log research insights about our users more broadly. I have found workarounds for this, but I wish there was some distinction between product-specific feedback and general findings.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have used productboard to successfully synthesize thousands of pieces of qualitative feedback about both specific products and our user experience as a whole. We have used that synthesis to shape our product roadmap each quarter and iteratively improve our offerings.

Organise all of your user and product feedback in one place – something for the entire team

What do you like best about the product?
I love the Portal, where we as a team can surface some of the brightest user-led ideas and products we're thinking about launching. It's great that users can vote on these as well. It's super organised.
What do you dislike about the product?
I haven't really gotten to grips with the Roadmap feature – we're not yet at the stage where we release so methodically. At first, it was definitely a little intimidating at first – but our customer success manager who helped us through everything, was super valuable. They booked a time that was convenient for us to chat about what we needed to do and use in order to make the most out of our productboard experience.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We now have a unified place where all feedback about our product and service is collated. It's amazing to have it all so organised and in plain view. We've now superpowered our decision-making and now have a streamlined process in which we can really, truly, deeply understand the potential impacts of the features we're thinking about and the direction we want to go into in order to best serve our users. Without productboard, none of this would be possible – we used to live in a world where we had disjointed feedback, in random spreadsheets, in dropboxes, all sorts of different places – now, not only do we have a single one-stop-shop, we now also have a place where we can easily communicate to the team (in both a quantitative and qualitative way) why we're shipping a certain update or feature.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you're thinking about productboard, do definitely go for it!

Productboard became our HQ of product insights

What do you like best about the product?
The fact that we are able to centralize feedback and link each note to a specific feature is amazing. This helps us centralize and prioritize product improvements. The integrations play a big role in that too. We can also display the features on our portal, getting even more feedback.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not much that I dislike, but I do see great opportunities in automation. I would love to see a few improvements within the Jira integration. For example:

- When the status of a jira ticket is updated to in progress, it would be great if we could automate updating the productboard status to 'in progress' as well.
- When a release version is released in Jira, it would be great if the release status in productboard and all linked features are set to 'released' as well.
- It would be great if you can sync non-custom jira fields to productboard, such as labels.

Besides the Jira integration improvements, I would love a way to sync customer data with Productboard. This will help us in our prioritization even more.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Centralizing & prioritizing product feedback
Validating product pains and product opportunities
Roadmapping

It helps you prioritize, not just organize

  • May 26, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
A lot of product management tools out there help you organize tasks that need to be done, but productboard is one of the few that helps you prioritize the endless list of feature requests. We use it to determine how we can make the most impact to the end user based on our current OKRs and the effort each feature request will take.
What do you dislike about the product?
There's a lot of functionality in productboard, so you can get lost sometimes. I find comments on Features can be easy to miss, since they are so far down on the Feature view. Even a quick link at the top of the Feature view to skip to comments could be nice (similar to the See Reviews link at the top of an Amazon product page).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have found that productboard's view customization (roadmaps, hierarchies, etc.) have allowed us to create the right views for each business unit. We have an objectives-focused high level roadmap for executives, a task board view for the product/design team, and a general hierarchical list for all feature ideas, which we go through when we're evaluating the features for the next quarter. This has helped me as a product manager share the information necessary for each partner which has increased transparency and member satisfaction across the team.

What do you like best about the product?
I really like that it's so easy to use Productboard. You don't need any training to figure it out. What's more, customer portal is really helpful and I like the smooth integration with Intercom. Last but not least, the support team is always very helpful.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing comes to my mind, I think it's a really great solution!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We're able to collect all the customer feedback easily in Productboard. We also prioritize feature requests thanks to the insights in the tool and we're finally able to close the feedback loop.

The best tool for aggregating customer feedback and choosing what to build!

  • May 25, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
productboard makes it insanely effortless to aggregate customer feedback, whether it's emails from customers, meeting notes, or feedback shared online. It's the only tool we've found that makes this task easy enough that people might actually go through the effort of organizing feedback in an actionable format! Otherwise, people just let feedback get dropped and forgotten!
What do you dislike about the product?
There really hasn't been much to dislike. Productboard is truly the tool for product managers, and it has basically everything I could want in it. My main pain point would be that the public voting portal doesn't have a search feature, so if you have a lot of feature requests you're seeking feedback on, it could be difficult for your customers to find a feature and vote on it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The main business problem we're trying to solve is aggregating our customer feedback into an actionable format, so that we can effectively plan and prioritize based on top customer requests, keep our team customer-driven, and keep the customer at the forefront of everything we do.

Additional benefits we've realized beyond that is that productboard is insanely helpful at remaining tasks, like roadmaps, planning via objectives, etc.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
productboard is definitely expensive (although all similar offerings seem expensive), but consider the time productboard will save your product managers from capturing and organizing feedback, and the immense time and effort saved by helping ensure you're building the right features for customers since you have tooling to help indicate what customers are most interested in!
