Excellent for an Agile transformation

What do you like best about the product?
Using the real-time integration with Jira keeps our releases and documentation synced. Being able to communicate business objectives and user insights on the feedback level helps make product/dev collaboration more impactful.I like being able to customize the releases, tasks, and tags. I typically create shareable custom views for each stakeholder group. The hierarchy and filters are easy to use but allow enough flexibility to create really tailored roadmaps. Feeding HelpDesk tickets into our insights inbox allows us to constantly validate features with real user feedback.
What do you dislike about the product?
I would prefer to have the ability to sync dates between features and Jira's epic progress back to my road map. That would be a gamechanger! The Slack integration is helpful for sharing changes but it doesn't allow enough customization for our organization. I'd like to be able to use a pre-set prioritization framework as well.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are rolling all of our product and development work up to our business objectives so Productboard helps to keep us on track with prioritizing effort where we will have the most impact without getting distracted. It's a great tool to use if you have a problem maintainig focus across stakeholders on your product vision. We have been using the Productboard to sync our high level vision all the way down to the granular task level. I am overseeing a portfolio of product lines and this is also very useful for that since I can associate feedback and features across multiple products and roll them up to a single objective.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Get your product hierarchy nailed down and it will be very simple and intuitive to use. I use themes-based components and that helps to guide how features are structured. Don't be afraid to use emoji to call attention to specific features and make stakeholders smile.

Great product for PM teams to understand customers and prioritize and plan roadmaps

What do you like best about the product?
The ability to map customer insights to features helps bring some real data from a bunch of unstructured feedback. This has helped to justify investment in features that we had considered but not had the justification for in the past. It has also helped make it clear when something may truly be a one-off, as we don't have any other feedback relevant to it. The linking and traceability of this helps us track, dive into the feedback when defining the features, and know who we should follow up with for both more information or to let them know we are building a feature based on what they asked for.

I also love the flexibility in creating and managing roadmaps for different audiences and the powerful features for feature prioritization including customer scoring.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some of my prior dislikes have been resolved with recent feature enhancements. I would still like more flexibility with cutom fields (e.g. a custom date field), and some more flexibility on managing releases. Some new features are really nice, but lack of some tools have made adopting them and changing how we use the product more challenging than I would like. For example, the addition of release groups was nice, but moving from one release group to multiple doesn't have a simple path, e.g. now way that I can find to move releases I have between release groups. Similarly, custom swim lanes in a roadmap are a great addition, but they are tied to a specific roadmap view and hard to reuse and manage. I hope as these features mature there will be more management options.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Involving more of the organization in gathering feedback, Understanding customer feedback, prioritizing development roadmaps, communicating better internally on roadmaps and reasoning, including giving traceability back to those submitting insights.

This is one of the best tools to keep track of your product

What do you like best about the product?
The roadmap feature is what is like the most because I can keep fine track of the progression of projects
What do you dislike about the product?
As product owner, the features' tree is sometimes hard to set as I like, I can't order features as I like sometimes.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Keep track of insight and better build the best roadmap for the users, while checking for velocity regarding other projects.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Product is really perfect for keeping track of your roadmap while using users insights to make the most valuable product.

Awesome Tool for Product Teams

  • May 24, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Productboard allows us to build the lifecycle of a feature, from its Ideation, Consideration, Development, and Release. We can create public views for multiple Stakeholders so everyone can see what's happening with each feature. And we can manage everything with prioritization scores that are public and reduce the classic "why is this feature being built" questioning.
What do you dislike about the product?
It doesn't have a simulation tool to rearrange features by date and see the impact of possible delays. You can see features on the timeline view, but it is not comfortable enough to play with it. Also, it is not possible to translate to other languages the Portal function (in case you have non-English speaker users)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are giving visibility to the whole feature prioritization process. That way, everyone knows the impact of adding unexpected features to future sprints.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Before productboard, we use to administrate our backlog on other platforms that weren't thought to be "Product administration software." As a result, it was hard to show what we had in the Roadmap to other people. We were swarmed by people asking us every day, "when is this feature going to be ready" or "why is this feature not being built". With productboard, we reduced those interactions heavily, as all the information is centralized and available for any Stakeholder. We don't have shared spreadsheets with feature requests anymore, and the implementation was quite simple. It's more about the willingness to change your company rather than the platform complexity.

Godsend for organized product managers

What do you like best about the product?
The ability to see my features in multiple views is killer- it was chaotic to do it on excel earlier
What do you dislike about the product?
The scale plan is super expensive and contributors can't do much, so hard to make it useful for non-PMs
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Organize my work as a PM
Consolidate customer feedback and insights in one place
Have a great way to display the roadmap and collect customer feedback on that
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Awesome tool if you are an organized product manager. Great to give visibility to different teams- and no, JIRA can't replace it.

Visualize multiple drives/scores one place
What do you dislike about the product?

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Correct prioritization based on customer feedback as opposed to random selection of priorities

Does almost everything I need and is very easy to use

What do you like best about the product?
* End-to-end product management tool for customer communication, staging, validation, sharing, and roadmapping.
* Configurable views with sharing options
* Notes/Insights/Feature relationships and tracking
* Many different roadmap types that are easy to share with the organization
* Make/Collaborator user model
* Built-in portal for validation and idea submissions
* Does not require a million plugins like Jira
What do you dislike about the product?
A few features that would be important to me are missing
* Portal that allows more customer/user participation (I don't agree with Productboards philosophy on not allowing community collaboration for voting)
* Soft dependencies between projects (currently only supports hard dependencies/blockers)
* Feature scoring doesn't work well as using effort in the equation tends to squish everything into the same range
* Export capabilities are too limited (e.g. I cannot get metrics for managing the notes backlog as the 'processed' date isn't exportable)

Pricing is on the expensive side.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
* Single source for tracking from idea (notes/insights) to feature candidates w/ scoring to roadmapping and sharing through delivery
* Sharing my roadmap without resorting to slides for presentation
* Collaboration with the rest of the organization

Great for tracking product features and timelines across a complex product.

  • April 21, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The ability to group features under components made it much easier to track what we wanted to build. Trello and GitHub projects (our previous solutions) required managing a large number of projects and boards, there was no way to get a holistic view of our product backlog or do prioritization.
What do you dislike about the product?
Our engineering tasks are tracked in github issues, but github tickets cannot be imported to productboard. When engineers create tickets in github, it is hard for us to track or we have to manually recreate them.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
* Product feature tickets are now organized around the product instead of the development team
* Roadmaps by swimlane allow us to see what each development team (backend, frontend, mobile) are working on and where one team is blocked by another
* Roadmaps by releases helped bring clarity to the executive team on when product updates will be available to our customers

Great tool with full customer feedback loop, potential feature analytics, and roadmapping.

  • November 11, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I really love how comprehensive this tool is. This tool allows you to collect customer feedback into one convenient inbox, tag all the feedback to different ideas, create metrics for analyzing all the ideas, and then use their analytics tools to develop a data driven product roadmap.
What do you dislike about the product?
Because the product is so customizable, it can take some time to get everything set up the way you want it, but it's really an incredible tool once you've got it right.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We've been able to get a much more data driven product roadmap instead of relying largely on the directives we receive from the higher ups in the company. We're also working on getting this set up to where it completes the feedback loop and notifies interested parties when we complete major milestones.
