Great tool if you have the discipline to keep it tidy

  • February 23, 2022
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It has a lot of tools to gather the best insights towards finding what is most valuable to build next. Also the roadmap tool is very nice to use and to share within the company. In combination with the portal feature you have a complete workflow.
What do you dislike about the product?
You have to keep discipline within the contributors and within the product owner team to make sure all features are categorized nicely and the notes are correctly linked to the features. You have to train the customer facing teams to keep everything nice and tidy otherwise you will miss the value.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Comparing features with each other in popularity and demand. Also be able to be transparent in our vision and plans ahead. We find that customers are more engaged in our plans and moving our product ahead.

Product feedback all in one place

  • February 23, 2022
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Connecting features with notes is an easy process to categorize a ton of data.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not a fan of the per seat Maker pricing. $100/m per Maker seems way too steep.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Sending product feedback from Intercom convos and Basecamp demo notes. We capture everything our customers and prospects are saying.

Great platform, average learning curve, improvable UI

  • February 22, 2022
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Great system of record for features and roadmap. Multitude of possible customizations to score, prioritize and filter feature cards. Great and flexible visualization options.
What do you dislike about the product?
UI is sometimes confusing, and repeatedly asks for confirmations when you tweak on page filters. Text edition is crap, so feature content and description is better kept separate. Also integrations with potentially adjacent tools (figma) is lacking or limited (Jira)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We maintain long horizons (Quarter n+1 to n+4), produce quarterly roadmaps and individual / custom roadmaps for each customer. It's also our system of records for pointers to stakeholder content (engineering, mkt, sales, CS...)

Great to sort your product progress. From customer insights to prioritizatioto launch

  • February 22, 2022
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Managing the insights of customer feedback, being able to build your unique process with different views and dashboards, quick customer feedback and how to organize your whole product workflow. Masonite gives a good overview from top level to operational
What do you dislike about the product?
Some features should not be enterprise. They belong to at least a package with a price tag on.
Even if I love the insights feature it could be improved in terms of more automation. Also a connection to HubSpot is missing
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Organizing product discovery and delivery.
Gaining and organizing customer feedback and mapping them to product ideas.
Making the plan visible to the whole company and having a solid transparent prioritization.

Helpful Product Categorization Tool

  • February 22, 2022
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It's been very helpful to have customer feedback entered into productboard in a way that I can easily categorize it. This way I'm able to see what features have been requested most and further details around the customer.

PB has also been helpful for sharing out roadmaps across the org.
What do you dislike about the product?
The Trends view was a bit buggy for me at first. It seems to be working ok now. I also had some trouble with the recommended features when processing insights. Features outside of my zone would regularly be recommended to me instead of features within my zone.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Shared Roadmapping within the Product Org and within the Organization overall. Processing and categorizing user feedback requests. I've been able to better prioritize which features customers are asking for most often because of product board.

    Computer Software

Critical for feedback organization and prioritization

  • February 22, 2022
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Product Board is highly customizable. The product provides a nice workflow from incoming feedback to association with feature requests. Integrations are essential!
What do you dislike about the product?
They could use more integrations for incoming feedback and project management. Most of all, I wish they'd solve the issue of follow-up once a feature is built. This seems like an obvious part of product management, but they haven't solved the problem.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
This is essential for aggregating and organizing feedback from many users and then prioritizing that feedback.

Great tool for communicating roadmap, but missing key integrations

  • February 22, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Great tool to share roadmap internally and keep relevant stakeholders in the loop of what's changed and how features are progressing.
What do you dislike about the product?
Missing integration with Linear. We've had to build a custom integration to connect the two systems but are still not properly in sync forcing us to double enter numerous items. Also forces other PMs away from PB and only use linear.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Roadmap communication
- Easy to share a high level view of what my team and other teams are doing in a single view
- Other team members also have the opportunity to view certain items in detail if they want to learn more about what a specific team is working on

    Computer Software

Solve Scaling Challenges by Decentralizing Product Management Knowledge

  • February 22, 2022
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
ProductBoard (PB) is a communication tool critical for software companies as they scale up and expand beyond 2 or 3 Product Teams in a single room. It's important to get away from the implementation details and simplify your engineering tasks to something that GTM / business-experts can understand, and PB does that with Jira 2-way sync.
What do you dislike about the product?
Tight integration with the engineering task system is critical; if you don't use Jira/Trello (and the list of integrations expand) then this is going to be a lot of extra work. The Portal feature sounds interesting to start but the addition of a community manager job actually increases the load of work on PM, and I haven't figured out a good way to actually integrate into our ops.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
PB also has a pipeline for processing and aggregating feature requests and ideas into an actual list of possible ideas, so that the "backlog" us Product Mangers like to refer to will actually exist. Putting all this together solves some of the tough communication challenges as a product team grows large enough that no single person can juggle everything about a product in their head. We have a feature request pipeline now, and the entire team is aware (and it's not in a single person's head).
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Remember it's a system of record - you will need a rollout plan, and teaching fellow Product Managers when and how to use the software is as important as the software itself.

    Fund-Raising

On the way to being an excellent tool, but not there yet in 2022

  • February 22, 2022
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Through shiny and bubbly interfaces that make the daily grind a little brighter, Productboard provides a sense of organization of the big ideas, a way to visualize ideas as plans on a timeline that colleagues outside of Product and Engineering can understand, and even a way to present those ideas to a wider user base so customers and prospects can see your roadmap and provide feedback on it. All of this can help you prioritize your product plans accordingly and maybe even improve your sales conversations.
What do you dislike about the product?
For all the numbers and widgets that can be added with the intent to help quantify the value of any given feature you're tracking, there are few if any tools to turn that input into something meaningful. Excel and Google sheets can do this with formulas. Productboard has a rudimentary version of this in its default Value/Effort prioritization score math, but that's not extensible to other data points. This feature request is tracked on Productboard's own Productboard and asked for by a lot of users. I want to get granular and I want to get quantitative now. As it is currently, it's superficial compartmentalization in slick UI without the ability to make it truly organized or actionable.

The Jira integration is nice but inconsistent. Description fields in Productboard don't have the same formatting options as Jira, so description content and things like user names can get mangled when the services sync.

And there is an ad to upgrade inconveniently placed inside the details fields for every single feature, subfeature, and whatnot.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Prioritizing. Explaining to colleagues what's next for us.

Amazing tool! Integrates with everything I need & works great with the Jobs To Be Done Framework

  • February 22, 2022
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
- Slack Integration
- Chrome Extension
- Customer Portals (to display their specific feature requests)
What do you dislike about the product?
- Can be a bit pricy for an early-stage startup
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I needed a place to manage all company to-dos for multiple customers with custom requests as well as a place to organize tasks into company-wide and long-term planning.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I'd highly recommend reading the content provided by Productboard on how to initially set up the product according to the Jobs To Be Done framework. Saves you a TON of time down the line. Trust me.
