Aiven Kafka save my oncall life
What do you like best about the product?
- Host a self-service Kafka cloud. Save us the operation time and code.
- Easy to setup and start to use. So could focus on our core business.
- terraform integration

- terraform integration
What do you dislike about the product?
The connect doesn't integrate with Docker very well. So we use AWS ECS to host our connect service.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Aiven saves us operational, deploy, maintain cost. So we could spend the saved time on our core business logic.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Aiven is easy to setup and use. Great for startup company to try out new ideas about real-time streaming without coding a lot.
A good introduction to Postgresql as a service
What do you like best about the product?
Ease of use, availability of extensions, ability to use Debezium.
What do you dislike about the product?
No Postgresql 12 yet, no direct access to WAL.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Store and manage a large amount of business data and connect the database with an already existing Kafka.
Great to have a unified view in one place
What do you like best about the product?
I like that it's easy to see consumer groups for each topic. Great sanity-check that ops are performing as expected.
What do you dislike about the product?
Should be more clear which topic you're acting on when you select "remove" - maybe even prompt to type in topic name before removal is possible.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We're just starting to use kafka at work, but I've been using Aiven (along with Kadeck) to interact with / manipulate topics.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Get yourself a dark theme - the control panel's default CSS is very bright after a while.
Have Done a POC with Aiven
What do you like best about the product?
Aiven interface has an Interactive UI and very easy to use. Technical support executives are very helpful and friendly.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes support only over chat is not so sufficient to deal with issues that are required to be solved immediately. Support over a call can resolve issues more quickly.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Realtime event monitoring and anomaly detection.
Benefits: Quick setup and ready to use platform. Good support over chat.
Benefits: Quick setup and ready to use platform. Good support over chat.
Easy to use
What do you like best about the product?
The ease to use. Everything is well managed and UI is simple to use.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes the customer support gives late reply. Should provide support over calls.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
No major problem. I have been benefited in achieving my goals
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Provide support over call as well.
Super easy to use
What do you like best about the product?
Ease of use to get onboard and also the migration capabilities of Aiven. Single click
What do you dislike about the product?
It isn't quite the same as setting up your own kafka on your servers you host. Many parameters were not available like being able to load custom kafka connectors
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Highly available nodes with ease of migration
Recommendations to others considering the product:
The biggest benefit is the ability to migrate across cloud vendors in a single click. It's fantastic.
Aiven is easy to use
What do you like best about the product?
Aiven is easy to use and manage, which saves a lot of work when compared to self-hosting a database.
What do you dislike about the product?
Up to now there seem to be no major downsides, the most difficult part of using Aiven (and it is not difficult) has been selecting the right region for the database server.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We do not want to manage our databases ourselves.
Super easy to use, no hassle Kafka
What do you like best about the product?
Everything is easy to use. I don't have to go searching through a confusing series of menus to find what I want; everything I use most frequently is just a click away.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not being able to see the events in a given topic through the dashboard. This isn't the end of the world since I can just use a program like Kadeck to view events, but it would be nice to have.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Currently we've been mostly doing some testing and light development with Aiven but we intend to use this for all of our event-driven microservices in the future.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It's definitely worth the money.
A Good Stable Kafka Platform
What do you like best about the product?
I've been running Kafka for a year in production now and it can be very complex to manage and recover if you ever find yourself in that that scenario. Aiven offers easy upgrade paths and the Avro schema library is still quite buggy in the console but solid when used within Kafka which is invaluable.
What do you dislike about the product?
The Aiven console is quite buggy and lacks features for user management. We would like more granular control over the RBAC system but at the moment it seems to be admin or nothing.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Kafka is the core of out platform and to have it fully managed so we can focus on building the tech around it gives us great peace of mind.
