Extremely beneficial to our business.
What do you like best about the product?
Mimecast is extremely beneficial to our business, thanks to functionality that enable us to defend ourselves more effectively against ever-changing e-mail threats than conventional anti-spam services. I abide by URL filtering, spam security and sandblaster apps, and if Office365 faces a big usability problem, this is a great opportunity to keep sending emails and I think you can easily find details in Mimecast's troubleshooting documentation and track your email flow.
What do you dislike about the product?
The price is high, and every update seems to make things worse. This new functionality will be introduced as a stand-alone inventory management unit and not as an enhancement to the current product. This can be irritating, as the new boss thinks like they are continually changing.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Capacity to clearly identify phishing scams, respond to threats, and correct users who click phishing connections. When I first set up the software, I got a lot of false positives, but after a few weeks of using it, I think it began to decrease, and then I started getting emails that the system thought were fair.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make sure that the price is set for a longer period of time and covers potential product changes.
mimecast
What do you like best about the product?
Able to stop 99% spam and phishing emails.
What do you dislike about the product?
The way the daily digest comes, should have better way notifying people something is held. I know there are plugins but time-consuming to go open your portal and plugin some time people forget.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Protecting end-users from spam
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make sure you make your user aware before implementing this solution perhaps send some instructions.
Mimecast required if you use Office365
What do you like best about the product?
Granularity in rule making for email management
What do you dislike about the product?
Their support system. I cannot see the complete history of my support ticket data.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Spam management using O365 is hard to manage and is not effective enough for us. Mimecast makes it easy for admins and end users.
Mimecast Secure Email Gateway Just Works
What do you like best about the product?
Policy implementation is easy and it just works.
What do you dislike about the product?
Lookup for policy definitions is not always intuitive.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Edge filtering, email security. We have quantitative data on threats prevented by Mimecast, management loves to see big numbers.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Use professional services for any implementation
Mimecast is a solid and effective email security product
What do you like best about the product?
URL protection is quite good. Ability to retroactively block a malicious URL saves a lot of headaches with regards to phishing scams. While it doesn't always automatically correctly block malicious links, the ability to manually add it and instantly ensure no one else is able to hit the site is invaluable. URL protection registration ensures you know who actually clicked the link as opposed to who received the email for followup and remediation.
Ability for users to interact with their hold queue via multiple methods (mobile app, Outlook plugin, web console, scheduled emailed summary digests)
Web scale
Flexible licensing true-up model
Simple DKIM implementation for outbound mail
Azure AD synchronization/authentication
Auto-whitelist for basic SPAM checks based on outbound email messages (if you email an address, the reply bypasses basic checks reducing chance for false-positives)
Auto-generated detailed weekly and monthly statistical reporting

What do you dislike about the product?
The administration console menu structure is unintuitive. Have to constantly dig to find the correct page and there are often multiple pages that can show similar information.
Drilling down on log entries is sometimes a manual copy/paste search exercise instead of one click (eg, directly jumping to the source email message for a clicked URL)
They do a poor job of monitoring their outbound IPs for RBLs. We often have to open a support case to request our tenant outbound IP range be changed as our outbound mail is being blocked by the recipient. That being said, we haven't had to do this in a while so they're either getting better at proactively managing this or are simply appearing on fewer RBLs.
Antivirus engine does a poor job of catching MS Office vulnerabilities, leaving it up to our O365 backend to catch
Had a month this fall that had a handful of days with significant email delivery delays up into the hours but that seems to be resolved and it was the first issues of the sort since migrating two years ago

Mimecast E-Mail Gateway Review
What do you like best about the product?
Solid platform, good feature-rich, decent support
What do you dislike about the product?
Much too much downtime - they should have this side solid by now
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
E-Mail, malicious URL scanning
Overall Great Service, Implementation Can Take Time
What do you like best about the product?
Mimecast as an email filter is great. It stops stuff, plain and simple, much more than 365. And while the UI is a little cumbersome, they are improving it all the time.
What do you dislike about the product?
We have implemented several of their products, and I will say that availability of implementers is an issue. Every engagement has taken a lot longer than expected. And of course you always have the difference in the 'sales promise' and the 'actual delivery', but that's common for this arena.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Phishing is way down, many less incidents, overall improvement of security posture.
Flexible and powerful
What do you like best about the product?
Support has helped us tweak the settings based on what we're seeing in the console. Excellent history report shows everything, or you can filter very easily. Unfiltered you can see blocked (and why), quarantined, accepted...everything. If you don't see it, that email did not get to you, and in our experience it has been a Sender issue every time.
What do you dislike about the product?
It does require us to do some of the lifting and I have discovered there was a lot I didn't know about fighting spam. I turned on one block setting and started blocking emails I didn't want to block.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
When we initially setup the software we were getting tons of false-positives but this subsided after several weeks of use after which time I assume the system started to pickup on the types of emails that we consider legit.
Mimecast as email firewall
What do you like best about the product?
One stop shop for reviewing and managing all email rules and restrictions applied to the whole company
What do you dislike about the product?
Some features are cumbersome to use. Could have been more flexible to display the information we need.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Implementing rules and policies for securing the email environment. Protecting the environment from spammers, malwares, malicious, marketing emails, etc.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Mimecast is a great tool to use. It serves the purpose. But if in market I would check for Cisco tools that may be easy to use.
Perfect for stopping junk mail/spam
What do you like best about the product?
The software is good at stopping phishing emails and spam. It is easy to use and quite self-explanatory, almost like having another outlook screen. You receive notifications when an email has been held and can action what you wish to do with it.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes delays emails and can stop important non-spam emails coming through. Another issue is when you log in to a different computer, you have to run through the authentication progress from the beginning, which can take some time.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is a secure software which has enable to filter down the emails are sent to me. We used to have loads of spam emails come through, some impersonating other members of staff. As a result of using this software, we have seen a reduction in phishing emails and links which could potentially steal personal information
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you use outlook or any other email software and manage sensitive data, Mimecast is perfect for that extra security. It is worth bringing it in on a trial basis to see if it can help secure your day to day emails .
