The best MDM and agent based management for iOS and macOS

  • October 03, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
A very well supported software package frequently getting updated to keep up with Apple. Neither platform suffers from being a secondary consideration as on many other products. Good documentation, along with online and classroom training resources, smooth the path for those new to Jamf Pro.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is priced accordingly, with high startup costs for not entirely clear reasons. There is still no standardized public bug tracker.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are currently using Jamf Pro to manage all macOS and iOS issued by the institution.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you can afford it, get it. There is nothing better for managed Apple devices.

Great MDM for school

What do you like best about the product?
The JAMF software is feature rich, and support was helpful for the difficult problems. They are always adding and improving features. The online community is amazing, and most problems have already been solved and documented through the forum members or JAMF.
What do you dislike about the product?
The support did take awhile to get escalated to someone who could give answers. I don't like the push toward more expensive hosting solutions, but understand why that is valuable to places that don't have anyone with the necessary skillset to do everything on their own.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are allowing our employees in tech to have more time to focus on problems during summer when school is out by no touch deployment. We also have an easier time staying within government guidelines when it comes to off site restrictions, especially with mobile ios devices for the students.

Best of the breed in Apple management

What do you like best about the product?
That Jamf puts a strong emphasis on keeping up with Apple’s changes.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only reason I didn’t give it a 10 is the price, but it ends up being worth it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It helps us keep our fingers on the pulse of our fleet inventory wise and helps us to put the end user in control with proper IT guidance baked in.

Jamf Pro in the Higher Ed. Space

What do you like best about the product?
The ease with which you can assist users with a variety of problems that happen on the day to day.
What do you dislike about the product?
Occasional difficulty imaging machines and problems that arise from maintaining a poorly documented system. No Dark Theme. Can't immediately jump to a script from a policy.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Providing users with Application support and updates remotely and quickly. Imaging machines to a users specific requirement. Larger scale deployment of many machines with similar/identical configuration. Its great to pull a computer out of the box, install Jamf, and hit the go button.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Clearly document the entire workflow as things are created and modified. A mess of overlapping policies, profiles, and groups can crop up quickly if unmanaged

Jamf Pro makes managing your Mac environment a breeze

  • October 02, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Checking in Macs to the platform is simple, using DEP or user-initiated enrollment. We have a zero-touch deployment where we can ship a Mac directly from Apple to any of our offices, our users can unbox it and we are safe knowing it will check in properly and get them started.
What do you dislike about the product?
Would love for Jamf to develop some more native functionality, particularly around DEP notifications. We're glad they bought NoMAD, would love to see more acquisitions and rollups like that in the future.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We couldn't manage our 300+ fleet of Macs without Jamf. They are the industry standard for a reason. If you have any Macs or iOS devices to manage, you need Jamf.

Great Product, Pretty good support, high price

What do you like best about the product?
JAMF has a great product - I don't think there's anything on the market that compares to it. If a company has a substantial Macintosh deployment, they almost need JAMF. You've become the gold standard.
What do you dislike about the product?
Historically, the UI has been clunky, but I think it's gotten better. I'd love the UI to better walk you through how to setup policies & configuration profiles with workflows / wizards / something. Lastly, your support used to be stellar, and I think there was a turning point a year or so ago when our personalized CS person was taken away. I think it's been better recently? I don't need to use it that often, so I don't have a great pulse on this.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We only use Macintosh laptops as a company, so we use JAMF for life cycle management of all employee laptops across the organization.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It's a great product that continues to get better. You'll need to spend time to justify the cost to executive management because I think it's kind of pricey.

Jamf is the best

  • October 02, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
One of the best parts of using Jamf is that it's simple to use. I've used many programs in the past that are supposed to simplify the end-user experience but have a steep learning curve. I dare to say that Jamf has been fun to learn and explore.
What do you dislike about the product?
My biggest issue is how Jamf handles saving changes. Sometimes it's not obvious that you're not saving changes the proper way.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Going Paperless!!! It was extremely easy to set up web clips that allow us to point the phones to paperless forms with electronic signature. We are also able to do Zero-Touch deployments to our remote staff.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Think about how you can utilize other applications with Jamf as well! Be creative.

Great management tool for everything Apple

  • October 02, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like how you can remotely manage any aspect of my Mac environment. Things like controlling restriction policies, deferring software updates and pushing out packages. Jamf makes it so you can do anything you want from a management side to meet your business needs.
What do you dislike about the product?
I dislike the learning curve needed to master the mdm solution.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am trying to solve the management of my Mac environment.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make sure to take the training courses before beginning to implement in the environment

    Education Management

Very easy to manage and Up time is great!

  • October 02, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Once you have it set up with Smart Groups, policies, and Apps catalogs, it's straightforward to manage.
What do you dislike about the product?
Lack of detailed reports, we need more MAss Action Commands, so it makes it hard to perform some tasks at a Mass level.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
managing over 15k ipads at a time. Scoping out Apps by School level has been a problem solving experience. Saves a lot of time. Being the only Admin it has helped our dept.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It is a good product - I just hope they maintain their high standards and get it going with more command options.

    Education Management

Good functionality, some bugs

  • October 02, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Advanced criteria for scoping such as buildings and other LDAP integration have been instrumental in automating workflows and eliminating manually-managed, static lists. There are a lot of very useful macOS policy payloads to accomplish basically any task. The community is great, and if you're running into issues you can usually find a solution, or at the very least someone also experiencing it to commiserate with.
What do you dislike about the product?
MDM functionality still leaves a lot to be desired, but that is, of course, at the mercy of Apple. A lot of product issues crop up, but most do eventually get fixed.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Provisioning automation, unattended management. Empowering end users to solve their own problems and requests with Self Service.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Familiarize yourself with free tools first and see if they are adequate for your environment. They will also help you develop the base skills necessary to really make full use of Jamf Pro
