Innovative Service, Outstanding Team

  • November 20, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
By far the best thing about Tines is the team. Our Acoount Managers are extremely knowledgable, timely, and supportive. While the system offers almost too much functionality, support has been amazing and we have never not been able to find a solution. Most times, I am introduced to an easier or better way then what I was previously thinking

Secondly, I truly enjoy the company's attitude around progress. They are constantly making the prodcuct better, whether its adding new templates or usability features.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is a bit of a learning curve using the platform. While its super powerful, and there is a ton you can do, it can be difficult to tap into all of that without diving deep into the system. You are truly the bottleneck to your experience, and can be frustrating at times when trying to create something.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Tines for a wide range of automation including, offboarding tasks, security alerting, and reporting

What do you like best about the product?
I love the usability of the tool and the fact that you can develop and host things efficiently and quickly.
Tines, and especially Tines AI, works out of the box and helps we solve issues fast.
Our Tines support team and account manager are also great at answering questions in our shared Slack channel and helping with problems.
Also, the swag is exquisite.
What do you dislike about the product?
File upload and download has limits which prevent me from using the tool for some usecases.
Collaboration is challenging due to change control being only limited to one change at a time.
I can't see my AI credit usage as a non-admin.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
- categorising our security inbox emails
- detecting spam
- integrating with Jira and Slack to spin up incident tickets, channels etc

How Tines Helped Us Run Our Service 24/7

  • September 24, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
One of the most helpful features of Tines is its ability to reliably process large volumes of data. With Tines, we can easily call out to Elastic Security Alerts and handle hundreds, or even thousands, of alerts daily. It allows us to deduplicate, gather context through APIs like VirusTotal, and significantly reduces the time spent manually creating cases and querying threat intel platforms.

As a developer, the thing that I like best about Tines is the ability to debug if there is a problem or failure, with the 'Logs' and 'Events' sections. I'm able to quickly discern what the issue is and where it lies. As well as the layer of abstractions from coding- making it accessible to all members of the team allowing us to collaborate together. Making note of the 'Automatic Transform Mode' action that allows you to provide an input and prompt, cutting down my developing time.

Finally, the lovely people who work at Tines are constantly listening, giving suggestions and improvements to our story development and making sure we feel that our opinions are heard and listened to. Shout out to Eoin, Paula and Paul!
What do you dislike about the product?
Tines does have some areas that they could improve on, such as SLAs (which is now currently in motion), user interface refinements, and the need for built-in messaging capabilities from a case for platforms like Teams or Slack instead of us having to build it manually in a story. However, Tines is very open to feature requests, and we’ve seen firsthand how those suggestions have turned into actual product updates- with a quick turnaround. For example, immutable records are now available, and there have been substantial improvements in the UI for cases, including custom case statuses and case fields.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The key problem that Tines allows us to solve is our lack of time.

Tines enables us to correlate all of this data into a readable case efficiently. It also allows us to tie many platforms we use internally, like Opsgenie, Teams etc and create a chain of communicating with their API's- again saving us the manual time we would've done before and allowing us to operate as a 24/7 vendor. We have built logic that processes alerts raised in Elastic and that is run through our Threat Intel Story which analyses and triages giving us a criticality score. This benefits us by giving us the room to take on more customers.

No-code tool, good for scheduling scripts daily and easy to use

  • August 16, 2024
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

We use it for automations on the enterprise security aspect.

What is most valuable?

The best thing is that it's no code, so it doesn't require coding knowledge. But it does require knowing all the features and variables that can be used for automation. It's also good for scheduling scripts daily. It's easy to use and gather information within Tines, and every detail is in the documentation. If we get stuck, we can use the live chat feature to discuss and get help.

What needs improvement?

Maybe Tines can add more features and demonstrations, like videos on how to use the features within the tool. For example, when you click on a feature, it could show a video link explaining how to use it. That feature could be added in the future.

So, I'd like to see more documentation on how to use Tines.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using it for six months.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It's a stable product. As far as updates go, it's been stable with no bugs. They consistently provide updates to the platform, and it has never hampered our work. It's been very good to use.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Different team members used it. In our environment, there's a team that manages cloud platforms and cloud security. They use it to alert on cloud alerts. It's for the enterprise.

There were three or four people for cloud security, and I was the only one in the enterprise using it. There are a few others who are on-site. We are from India, but there are on-site people as well.

They also used to have access and were performing automation with Tines.

How are customer service and support?

I talked to the support team through the live chat feature. When we raise a question, an engineer is assigned within five or ten minutes, and they provide solutions on how to proceed.

The support was good. If we know things in Tines, and if we understand their answers correctly, we can get the solution. I would rate them seven to eight. If a user doesn't understand their answer, they might need to get on a call and have someone show them how it's done.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

The client finds it very easy to use, and everyone can learn it easily and perform automation tasks. The other platforms previously used for automation were a bit complicated and required a larger team to set up. Tines is very easy and compatible with the environment, so the client uses it for automation purposes.

What about the implementation team?

I didn't onboard it. It was already deployed in my environment. I was just using it for automation.

What other advice do I have?

If someone needs tasks performed daily that can be automated between different systems, and if there's a cybersecurity or SOC analyst team, they can also use it by creating various API calls, setting alerts, and investigating those alerts based on automation scripts. It's very useful and can be used in other places as well. Any tool with an API can be automated with Tines.

Overall, I would rate it a nine out of ten.

Vendor-neutral, increases response time, and enables to reduce staff by 30%

  • May 20, 2024
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

I run a security operation center. We used the solution for alert detection. We evaluated it for managed detection and response.

What is most valuable?

It was helpful to get additional data to the analysts without having them do manual work. The tool was vendor-neutral. We liked that a lot.

What needs improvement?

Tines was a little bit more expensive than Torq.

For how long have I used the solution?

I used the solution last summer.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Tines is a great product. The scalability is great.

How are customer service and support?

The support persons seemed unwilling to spend as much time with us after we moved forward with them. The salesperson was great. However, we got a bit more hands-on time with the people from Torq.

How was the initial setup?

The setup was not difficult. It seemed pretty simple. We were using fairly common hardware and applications used in the security industry. The help we get on how to do our use cases, specifically in the first couple of weeks, saves us a lot of setup time.

What was our ROI?

I was able to reduce my staff by about 30%. It was a pretty good saving. The response time was increased.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

Currently, we use Torq. Tines works the same way Torq does. We use Torq to handle additional phishing email intelligence. We use it to reach out to users automatically with some pre-created questions. We use it to automate our current playbooks. Torq is a little bit cheaper than Tines.

Torq’s team seemed a little more ready to work with us during the initial setup and get our use cases developed. Torq’s sales team is better than Tines’. Tines and Torq are pretty similar. They both have a lot of customization. They both have a much lower price point than other tools on the market.

What other advice do I have?

I will recommend the product to others. Overall, I rate the solution an eight out of ten.

Advanced platform with flexible options

  • December 12, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Having used other, similar open-source solutions in the past, the completness of Tines is great; especially if you set it off against the usability. With many products you get one or the other, but not both. Tines strikes a great balance between the two.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are some minor improvements I would like to see, such as being able to disconnect the name of an action and the output it produces. This would allow me to put a descriptive name on the action whilst not resulting in an output with a very long prefix/name.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Security automation.

Simpler but more flexible than the rest of the market

  • November 15, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Non-engineers who've struggled to use other automation platforms have been able to pick up Tines easily. The dev/support team have been quick to answer questions and even make fixes/changes where we've asked for it.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some of the features don't seem fully fleshed out yet, but this is quickly changing.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Tines is replacing our existing SOAR platform (XSOAR from Palo Alto), enriching or resolving raised alerts.

Tines is a game changer for every fast-paced company

  • November 09, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Tines really helps speed up all the processes that have clear steps by implementing automations. Also, having the chance to also work with external APIs is of huge importance as multiple feeds can help enrich the process a lot. Also, customer support seems to be very responsive.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes having to implement flows with loops may be a bit complicated and there should be more mechanism that should adress the methods that should interact with those loops.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We automate multiple processes which in the past took a lot of time and human effort. Also we enrich those processes with external information. Also, the connectivity with other applications is really amazing and the fact that the application also has that templates is of great use.
