Extremely easy product to use!

  • July 19, 2023
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The most helpful part of storylane is the ease of use. Capturing screens from our app and creating eye catching videos takes very little time compared to its competitors.
What do you dislike about the product?
At this point in my Storylane journey I wouldn't say I have run into any downsides or dislikes. The only feature I would love to see would be a Zoom feature.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Storylane is solving a time problem I had. P{rior to Storylane, creating this type of content would take hours. Now it just takes about 30 minutes.

  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
A great way to show off products and provide helpful information for users
What do you dislike about the product?
There's no way to exclude internal visitors from your analytics, e.g. team members with fixed IP addresses
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It allows us to show off a relatively complex product without needing a human demo

Customers can sell themselves!

  • July 18, 2023
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Our sales process can get messy, and often times we rely on lower management to pitch the product to upper management. This is not ideal but is the nature of our sales cycle. Storylane enables lower management to pitch upper management in an engaging and convincing way. They share their Storylane interactive demo link and the personalized demo does the selling for them/us. We have more confidence in our sales cycle thanks to Storylane.

We are a startup and most of Storylane's competitors did not have pricing that would fit our needs. We would've been paying for way more users than we actually needed. Storylane works for enterprise and start-up businesses!
What do you dislike about the product?
I have not run into any issues so far. The product is simple to use so I have not needed to contact support, which is really nice. They understood the needs we had and made sure we were signing up for the correct tier.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Thanks to Storylane we are able to empower our potential clients with a tool that allows them to sell our product to their management. During the sales cycle, it is difficult for us to get in contact with the main decision-makers, Storylane can help bridge that gap.

Competitively priced with great features

  • July 14, 2023
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Signup and onboarding were easy, with the promise of support and some exciting new features coming soon.
Competitively priced to other more established solutions, some generative ai, text-to-voice, prompting and more.
Simple browser extension plugin that allows you to seamlessly:
- Record screenshots with smart linking, scroll etc., as you click, kind of like a video (you can't remove or blur small sections of your product here)
- Record HTML perfect for highly detailed editing of sensitive info; you can manually edit, adjust and set up as you like.
- Easily add to existing demos or create a new demo

Some of my most used features are the following:
- Find & Replace is great for editing out large sets of sensitive information across multiple screens.
- Test-to-speech prompts
- Edit HTML is amazing for editing screens, especially when developing content for feature releases that are still in production with our team or customising certain fields like options of dropdown menus.

The team are very supportive and responsive. Arjun has been amazing support so far.
What do you dislike about the product?
Depending on the complexity of your product the HTML editing can be tricky and isn't always easily editable or responsive. You'll need to have a decent understanding of coding, so there may be a steep learning curve.
Our main demo product has 100+ screens, all containing multiple sets of highly sensitive information. Navigating through these can be quite tedious, you also need to make sure you unselect "apply to all" pages when linking.
Navattic has a better interface if you want to be able to demo mobile apps.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We're working towards product-led growth. A solution we hoped to address was allowing the target audience to view a curated demo and also be able to play around themselves after - so we could look to see where they saw the most value, but also perhaps where they don't understand the benefits our solution offers them.
We also use it to train new staff and clients - as a step-by-step guide with text and hotspot prompts explaining the features of the product.
We haven't had a chance to play around with all features yet, but we will also look to add video and images to some of guides.

The perfect alternative to video walkthroughs

  • July 11, 2023
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
We currently use an animated video walkthrough on our homepage to show users what they can expect when they subscribe. It takes a while to make these videos, and with recent UI updates, they need updating regularly.

Storylane solves this by being super fast to mockup a demo environment and make quick changes to text, layout and anonymising data. What took days to make a video update will be a few minutes with Storylane.

My favourite feature is the HTML capture. Instead of taking a screenshot of the page, it captures the HTML, allowing you to easily modify text, delete popup elements and link buttons to other pages.
What do you dislike about the product?
There's a few technical issues I've come across.

The 'apply to all' feature on some parts can be too easily clicked, undoing previous work, tooltips placed on wider screens don't adapt for smaller screens and the blur feature still allows the end-user to copy and paste the text it's blurring.

But these feel minimal and would likely be fixed quickly.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I animate each video when we need a new walkthrough because of a UI update. That involves:

- Taking screenshots of the updated pages and anonymising details in photoshop
- Re-writing, re-recording and editing new parts of the voiceover
- Re-animating where the mouse moves, with new mouse-over animations
- Making different versions depending on where a user is in the funnel.

Storylane solves most of this:
- Editing screenshots is as simple as clicking on the screen where to anonymise.
- There's no need for a voiceover as it's all written in popups.
- There's no need to animate the mouse as the user moves their own mouse.
- Making different versions is as simple as typing a few new words.

This saves me days of time. I can instead put my effort into building out the demo environment so it's more interactive and make additional walkthroughs for different aspects of the platform for customers at different stages.

Finally! We can offer ungated product demos

  • July 11, 2023
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Storylane allows us to spin up an interactive product demo in minutes. The HTML capture makes things an absolute breeze, so we can quickly tweak or blur data as needed. We love video, but it just can't replicate the experience of using and clicking around inside our product. Storylane bridges the gap perfectly. It's ideal for SaaS companies who want to embrace product-led growth, without draining any dev resources.
What do you dislike about the product?
I'm struggling to think of any negatives. Our experience has been 10/10 so far. No complaints.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our prospects want to road-test our SaaS before creating an account. Video and live demos are great, but they're hard to do at to scale. Storylane saves us a lot of time. I was surprised at how powerful and flexible the feature set is. I've been "imagining" a tool like this for a long time. Storylane built it.

Great product for interactive demos

  • July 11, 2023
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Great experience in creating interactive demos.
What do you dislike about the product?
A bit too time-consuming for customizing the demos, especially when you have a complex product.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Provides a great support in demo customization, especially when it comes to complex products you don't need to go to product / front-end teams to make changes, but can do it yourself and then commercialize it in dedicated campaigns.

Super Powers For Our Sales Team

  • July 10, 2023
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Storylane's system captures the full HTML/CSS and image assets from your app. We went through and captures just about every single page in our application. With its screen linking system, we can now give leads demo's of our app immediately, on the fly, with all of the state from when we captured. We no longer have to manage demo instances, clean/reset the data, or have anyone technical involved in preparing a demo. Our whole team can now just fire up the link, and show off our application and everything looks and feels real because of the HTML capture.

Because it's all HTML, we can create variables. So 5 minutes before a demo, our sales person can inject the prospect's company name and logo, Storylane then spits out a special link for that prospect. This allows an incredibly personal experience for our sales calls, and all is done without needing to setup a real, special instance of our application, and doesn't require any technical know how at all.

The other bonus benefit was, because Storylane captures each page, and you're linking and clicking through them...it removes the loading time a real instance would create. So when you're doing demos and in sales mode, knowing that you can click anything and will never get hit with unexpected seconds of loading time is a huge plus. Of course, that depends on your app.

In the end, this tool has completely changed how we do sales. We have very particular demos setup to tell specific stories, and also one big one with almost our entire application captured.

Whatever you pull up, it all looks and feels like our actual application!
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish they had some more demo management features like versioning and locking production ready demos.

When we have a really large demo with 50+ screens, it would be cool to have a way to go directly to a screen without having to navigate to it through the demo itself.

These are minor things though, really hard to find any actual fault considering the value it gives us.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Prior to Storylane, for us to do a demo, we needed someone to carve out a demo instance of our application. Then given how many third party APIs we integrate with and want to show off, we had to clean and reset the data at every single system. This often required hours and multiple people to become ready for a demo.

Great team, great product

  • June 28, 2023
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The HTML screenshot functionality is really helpful for us, because we can customize the screens to show only what's most important.

It can be so hard to find a clean demo instance - one that shows the right data, and also doesn't have any customer information on it, etc - and this solves that challenge.
What do you dislike about the product?
We haven't really found anything that we don't like - I know there are a lot of options on the market, and we demoed them all, and this was the best for our specific needs.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We wanted our product pages to have a product walk-through on them. This doesn't replace the sales-led demo, but it gives prospects a sense of each tool before they talk to sales.

Sometimes we also have promoted the click-through demos as part of new feature launches - sending customers and prospects there to learn more about the new feature.
