Perfect for New Learners
What do you like best about the product?
Smartsheet is user friendly enough for beginners, yet has enough features for experienced users. I particularly like the automation to reduce the burden.
What do you dislike about the product?
Smartsheet requires manual saving of data, although it gives a prompt to save every 10 minutes. Some of the formulas are complex and could be automated.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I have used Smartsheet in helping small biotech companies becuase it is a nice balance of structure and flexibility. I also use it in a course to introduce students to project management concepts and tools.

I love that you can attach documents to rows

It is not yet intuitive to me, but I am going to sign up for training. I'm a total beginner

it is helping a group of us manage a HUGE grant with many moving parts
Very good program with a few minor setbacks
What do you like best about the product?
SmartSheet makes collaborating very easy when there are multiple players involved. Having access to real-time updates in one environment, and being able to attach files, makes project management significantly more convenient. It was easy to get users started and have SmartSheet integrate into our process. Reminders are an excellent feature for all users.
What do you dislike about the product?
The SmartSheet documents themselves act strangely sometimes, with small quirks that typical Excel users may struggle with. The program also runs slowly at points, which detracts from the one-environment setup and makes the process more frustrating for frequent users.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our nonprofit has multiple complicated grants. SmartSheet gives us one central location to monitor project and report progress for all grants, regardless of size, and lets Senior Leadership have a 30,000-foot -- or 30-foot -- view of everything when they need to see it.
Smartsheet is Great for Inegration
What do you like best about the product?
The most helpful thing about Smartsheet is the ease of adding attachments to rows. I also think the control over who can access, edit, and share each sheet makes it easy to allow some information with pertinent employees but not all. This helps keeps things confidential as well as prevents employees from being overwhelmed with too many sheets they may never need to use.
What do you dislike about the product?
The least helpful thing about Smartsheet is when an employee DOES need access, it has to be granted through an administrator, which is sometimes difficult to get quickly.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartsheet is excellent for qick calculations, organizing information, and keeping all relevant files and attachments in the same please for easy finding and using.

The fact that we can change to various views (Gantchart, cards, list,...) easily
What do you dislike about the product?
Not sure if it is a dislike but something that is missing or could be improved, is to be able to link different sheets. One could have a master sheet with various projects, and within a line, it would be nice to be able to call and link lines of another sheet.

complexities sometime can be overwhelming if you are not from Excel working background

I love the collaborative feature of it that our whole team can work on it at the same time.
What do you dislike about the product?
I get problem when I do bulk modification. It saved the changed automatically after sometime when I intend to do it manually. Because after saving the tasks it sends notification to multiple peoples that some modification has been done to tasks in multiple parts but I just want to be sent that in a single notification email using automations.

We are managing project and it benefits us by sending timely reminders about task due and upcoming tasks.

What do you dislike about the product?
Not super easy to customize the sheet, it's not excel. So it has limitations that make me frustrated when I use it. Google Sheets is similar to Excel in a lot of ways, but is also very different. I prefer Google Sheets to Smartsheets no question. I don't understand how to use the templates on SmartSheet, it's not intuitive and I feel many of the ways I would approach Excel/Google Sheets does not work the same on Smart Sheet.

What do you like best about the product?
The ability to link data and have it update across different views in real-time is invaluable. Smartsheet prevents data being buried in static spreadsheets and allows better tracking of efficiencies across our business.
What do you dislike about the product?
You should be able to link a cell easily to multiple other sheets and have the ability to enable two-way editing for contents of a cell. Think about it like a phone number that exists in multiple directories and can be updated in any place when it changes.
The color palette is also tough. You should be able to format any sheet with a full color wheel.

Great Alternative to Google Excel
What do you like best about the product?
Smartsheet offers a more user-friendly experience compared to Excel, with a well-designed and visually appealing interface. Unlike Excel, Smartsheet provides a variety of tools that enable users to personalize their sheets. Notable features include multiple views, such as Grid View, Gantt View, and Calendar View. For my work in a healthcare setting, the Calendar View is especially valuable, as it allows me to efficiently manage patient schedules and track appointments on a daily basis.
Initially, I was not well-versed in using Smartsheet, but after reaching out to customer support, I found the team to be both personable and responsive. They ensured that all my questions were answered and followed up to confirm my issues were resolved. Additionally, the Smartsheet Community Hub has been an invaluable resource, offering a wealth of information and support when I need clarification or assistance.

Due to the wide range of tools Smartsheet offers, it can be overwhelming for first-time users, particularly those who may not be well-versed in tech, as I experienced. For instance, when I first encountered Smartsheet, I found myself confused by terms such as "Automation" and "Proof," which were unfamiliar to me.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It helps me by visualizing my task priorities, tasks, and my data such as when patients are coming in on which day via the Calendar View.
