Smartsheet for Project Managers
What do you like best about the product?
My favorite thing about Smartsheet is the ability to collaborate with my entire organization on sheets, reports, calendars, and dashboards. So much of it is automated too, which makes the collaboration practically seamless. And not everyone needs a paid license, which really helps because the Enterprise edition can be costly (but worth it!). As a smaller project management team, we're able to create, customize, and scale project management templates across our organization. We've been able to implement and get buy-in from 99% of our employees due to its ease of use, which is HUGE. Learning and even advancing knowledge in Smartsheet collaboration is easy because the platform is intuitive, it's familiar in the spreadsheet sense, and there are a TON of resources out there (Smartsheet University, YouTube, etc.). There is even a Smartsheet community where we all come together to help each other find solutions. Let's put it this way, it's the ONLY software company I've ever wanted to purchase swag from (and have, I use my coffee cup with pride). I use Smartsheet every business day and appreciate how it integrates with Teams, Outlook and that if I get stuck, they have customer support on top of everything else.
What do you dislike about the product?
Every once in a while, I will mutter under my breath "Dumbsheet!" One, it's fun to say, but two and more importantly, Smartsheet is newer to the software industry and is still growing and working out some enhancements. This is what I dislike the most about it, especially because the frustration usually feels like a "really? you can amaze me in 99 ways, but you can't do something this simple?!" type of scenario. For example, there is an amazing Calendar app that makes beautiful calendars even our C-Suite is impressed by. BUT you can only see a calendar key in one of the views (monthly) but not in any other format (multi-month and quarterly). And our C-Suite won't use it without a key (can't blame them, who has time to go back & forth in a high-level strategy meeting?). Smartsheet's "solution" is to plop the calendar into a dashboard and manually add a key, but by doing so the calendar is no longer interactive without having to log in multiple times. Feels like such a simple solution that causes so much frustration for us but until the developers get through their mile-long list of enhancements, we're stuck. But that is a silver lining: their developers are ALWAYS enhancing based on the user requests, which is such a refreshing experience.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As the leader of our PMO, it also allows me the 10,000 foot level view to what's happening at a Portfolio level, which really helps me to stay on top of all the projects, programs, and processes that impact our people. No more chasing down individuals for updates, wondering what the latest status is on a risk, or putting together costly and time-consuming meetings to plan launch dates that won't collide - all of that info is at my fingertips.

What do you like best about the product?
I like that Smartsheet is highly customizable and adaptable for project needs.
What do you dislike about the product?
Automations and other complex formulas have a huge learning curve
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We used to not have a system in place for tracking next steps and tasks. With Smartsheet, it's easier to track tasks and action items, tag appropriate assignees and accomplish them within deadlines.
Very Functional for Internal Use
What do you like best about the product?
I love the versatility of Smartsheet. It has amazing features that are much "cleaner" and easier to use than other sheets products. It makes tracking sheets for internal use much easier on the eyes.
What do you dislike about the product?
The other side of the functionality for internal use is that Smartsheets are not as client-friendly. While they can be shared, it's not as easy to make it editable for business clients when tracking a project. I also wish it had a tabs feature for projects that have multiple layers, rather than making multiple separate sheets.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our business involves a lot of multi-faceted projects that require detailed tracking. Smartsheet makes tracking these projects much more organized and practical.

What do you like best about the product?
I like the dashboard. It's an easy way to see the status of every project.
What do you dislike about the product?
The automations and conections are a bit difficult to maneuver.

May be needs to design more organized by adding extra columns or by adding some color shades which notifies the priorities what to finish first

What do you dislike about the product?
Loss of data when multiple users update data on same sheet at same time. This is very rare but painful.

Collaboration along with task and work management.

What do you like best about the product?
I love the ease of use in project management, the software is very user friendly. The help sections are easy to nagivate and understand.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish that you could create tabs as you can in Microsoft Excel for larger workbook projects or reports. The search is also a little difficult in that it not easy to search within a sheet as you can in Excel when you are looking for a particular name etc.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartsheet works really well for my team to stay on track of projects and tasks. Its very easy to share with others to make edits and changes.
Great features
What do you like best about the product?
We use smartsheet to track our sponsors for our non profit events. The functionality of it is great, I can set up reports for certain staff members so they don't have to wade through the whole thing, I can also set up alerts that are reoccuring. We attach the logo and the contract right to the line so our accounting department can also look at it too. We can also create an invoice right from the line by slecting generate document, which is super handy. Overall this is so much more useful than using google sheets or excel, as I have everythig in one place.
What do you dislike about the product?
The columns don't filter and sort as well as they do in excel. You can create a report and filter/group from there but in the actual sheet it doesn't have that much ability.

The way to develop a formula. Most users are familiar with Excel, and we need to learn again how to use formulas.

What do you like best about the product?
Task management is really helpful, and slicker than MS Projects to create, manage tasks, optimise the critical path and view project plans
What do you dislike about the product?
Automation is a little bit too complicated to my taste, and I'd like a 2-way interaction with Google Spreadsheets so that my customers can edit RAID logs or other Project-related documents
