We acquired Smartsheet as a replacement for MS Project but use it for a lot more
What do you like best about the product?
Workflows and surveys are very useful. The various views allow for using it as a spreadhseet, gantt chart, kanban, schedule and more. Assigning tasks to users and notifications are used often. It was easy to implement and over half of out employees are using it.
What do you dislike about the product?
We have tried to connect Power BI but not a good solution for integration that we have found.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The primary use was for project schedules and task management. MS Project is ecpensive and most uers do not know how to use project. Smartsheet meets our needs and is much easier for people to use. We have since been using it for workflows, new employee onboarding, engineering notifications, marketing projects and content approvals.
Great PM Workspace
What do you like best about the product?
Smartsheet is intuitive and user friendly. I like how it is similar to our old friend excel which we have all been using for years. I use the features including links, and sharing workspaces through the site has accelerated my teams productivity and keeps everyone in the know.
What do you dislike about the product?
The people who you share with must have a smartsheet account. Often times our IT dept takes time to provide access to folks for viewing, which slows us down a bit. Sub tasks are also difficult to input under larger projects. It would be great if a larger project could be clicked on then you could view the sub tasks associated which could then translate into a dashboard. Instead our dashboard shows sub tasks as individual projects. Integrations across other programs to showcase dashboards would also help.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
project management is my team's main use. We create dashboards and calendars out of the project lists. We also use the forms function to organize our requests and have the team input thier weekly project updates.
The advantages of Smartsheet for my accounting occupation
What do you like best about the product?
Data import and export are done easily. It's rather simple to monitor the advancement of every phase of our team-based work with Smartsheet's user-friendly, visual interface; creating and adjusting budgets is quite dynamic and facilitates the establishment of detailed line items and assign costs to specific tasks.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's not as easy as I thought to set up multiple sub-projects in Smartsheet. There is room for improvement in this particular setup area.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The ongoing cash flow information provided by Smartsheet allows us to plan and budget projects with more efficiency and accessibility, even when they involve multiple vendors and line items.
Very helpful for estimating andschedules
What do you like best about the product?
It helps for the different stages of a project. In out case, we work with contruction - so we can multitask for estimating, change orders, schedules, and it can also be used in cellphone, tables and computers.
What do you dislike about the product?
I havent found any big deal compared to other estimating softwares I have used.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
One issue we had before was that each department had its own software. Smartsheet solved this by allowing project managers, accounting, design, and estimating work along the same document.

How I can link my smartsheet to another smart sheet and hit a check box when I am finished with a task, and it will move it to the other smartsheet.

I wish Smartsheet had a dark mode, like Google does.
Attaching PDFs (files) to the Smartsheet line is impossible. It used to allow me to, but now it does not. I can with Google Sheets.

Easy to manage my task, list, ect.... Great place for all that needs to work on tasks to come together.
A growing dynamic tool for all your project needs
What do you like best about the product?
If you ever thought of what would happen when you combine all the good features from an Excel sheet with a powerful project tool, then you must try Smartsheet. From resource planning to task distribution, from Kanban boards to Gantt chart views and detailed analytics, is all one needs to organize, track and control their projects with high accuracy. While you can enjoy such features as conditional formatting you still get much more powerful project management tools such as automation, baseline calculation, workflows and much more. The latest Home screen feature provides better workspace organization options.
What do you dislike about the product?
Smartsheet still has a lot of space to be refined and grow. While I believe it's a work in progress, it is boring to find out that the Gantt view resets when reopened and you will have to reorder and reorganize the width of columns to match your preferred screen size.
Also, it would be good to ask the user where to place the new Smartsheet file and create a new project kit when New option is selected.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Instead of using multiplr tools such as Excel, Micorosoft Project and Jira, Smartsheet perfectly combines all the best features from each tool.

Versatile and approachable platform for planning, tracking, personalization
What do you like best about the product?
SmartSheet offers many different options to deal with data. Our office uses a custom, in-house created system for tracking many different types of activities in several different ways. I like best that SmartSheet is similar enough to MS Excel so that it is approachable for a new user, with additional features such as built-in Gantt-views, ability to link sheets and cells, ability to generate custom forms, etc. Our office uses SS nearly daily to track our activities, big and small, which is when analysed at the end of each quarter. I have not had use to contact customer support, but I know that there is a robust professional community around SS, which regularly hosts meetings and reaches out to demo new features.
What do you dislike about the product?
For our office's custom purposes, we could have paid an exorbitant fee to have a custom system created for our use. That wasn't possible financially for us, so one of our team members took the initiative to create a tracking system from whole-cloth. As a result, it is a bit complicated, with several moving parts. Since the licenses are a bit pricey, we have four people on our team with full access, and everyone else has free accounts. Therefore it's been a bit difficult to implement and integrate into our overall office activities. There is a bit of learning curve with it, for sure, and there remain several people on our team who are loathe to interact with it fully. This is probably somewhat due to the limitations of SS itself, and somewhat due to the attitudes of our team.

Our team needed somewhere to track our annual activities in a database form, and SS does do all of that - the Excel-like format makes it easily useable for our team, no coding or more advanced data science needed.

-Limitations in number of rows and columns and couldn't add huge project plan that scheduled for more than one year.

Excellent handy Tool for PM and collaboration

What do you dislike about the product?
Learning curve for new users is when compared to other excel features is high.
I feel Cost is on higher side when you go for enterprise editions.

Project management is of ease. Clients are also happy with workflow we have implemented to track projects.

What do you like best about the product?
The most helpful thing about Smartsheet is that it is so user friendly. I also appreciate how the set up is and how you are able to go about things many different ways.
What do you dislike about the product?
I would love to see bulk conditional formatting applied to multiple rows. There are multiple different ways to do things, but it sometimes is overwhelming to figure out the best way to do things.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Ease of everyone being in the same document and being able to all work on the same sheet with the view not changing!
