The Answer to Project Tracking
What do you like best about the product?
Wish previous companies I worked for used Smartsheet. I utilize the desktop version of Smartsheet and love it. We have a project kickoff meeting and we then build the schedule. But this is not just a scheduling tool, we use it for tracking orders, product orders from vendors, and much more. I use Smartsheet all throughout the day. Comments, percentage updates, it's all done in real time so that everyone can see. The notification features that can be set up in the automation section is great too. I need to know when someone comments or makes a change, getting that notification is super helpful. There is so much more to learn with Smartsheet, I know I have only scratched the surface, but I am looking forward to learning more of the backend to Smartsheet to become a better user.
What do you dislike about the product?
I'm not a fan of the mobile version for Iphone and Ipad. When out in the field it can be difficult to update percentages or make sure that notes are being put under the correct line. I typically wait until I am back at my desk to input/update all my data.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Communication is top of the list. Comments and notes on a Smartsheet schedule removes any issues. So and so told me...but with a tag on Smartsheet and the comment, it's now all in one place and people can follow along. It also allows for open communication if we are waiting on something. Someone in fiberglass lets me know they are waiting on a metal piece, that comment goes to myself and the Project Manager creating an action item to get this task done.

It can be a bit pricey and my entire team isnt trained on it

What do you like best about the product?
Smartsheet is very intuitive to use and allows you to find more and more benefits as you get more exposure. I like the ability to resource plan and overlay project timelines. Smarstheet has allowed us to get a more holistic view.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only major downfall we have experienced so far is the usefulness of using Smartsheet on tracking projects. It is difficult to have repeatable tasks scheduled.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We never had a holistic view of what everyone in Research Services was doing before. We have a template we use for all projects within Smartsheet. Our ability to resource plan has grown tremendously since we started to use Smartsheet.
Excellent project management tool for skills at all levels

I love the automations available, makes following up with team members so much easier!

Smartsheet is such a powerful tool, it can be overwhelming at times with all the possibilties.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartsheet keeps all cross-functional departments aligned with one another, especially when there are dependencies.

What do you like best about the product?
I have used Smartsheet as a task tracker and knowledge repository for items that I want to be able to quickly reference at a later time. I find the opportunity to have multiple "tabs" open at once for various projects that I can click between very helpful on the desktop version.
What do you dislike about the product?
Smartsheet provides a ton of functionality but can feel a bit like building out the product to match your custom use cases. For those who might wish to dive straight into a pre-designed template, there's an option for that but it might not be the ideal tool.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I have multiple projects underway at any given time. Being able to retain context for relevant tasks in separate Smartsheets for specific projects has been invaluable.

What do you like best about the product?
I really appreciate the ease of creating forms and gathering records in one sharable file.
What do you dislike about the product?
The limits on characters in the column names.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We used to use paper logs for our hourly quality reports and now we use a QR code linked to the respective Smart Sheet form to collect and parse the data.

I like the ease of use and ability to share sheets/information with multiple people. Helps my client projects stay on task and organized/focused.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some of the logic and functionality is finnicky.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Keeping a project (RAID log, etc) organized and on task with the ability to share with a large project team and assign them specific tasks to maintain accountability.

What do you like best about the product?
It shows all of the details of the project, dates, responsibles and status. Easy to comprehend and manage. As a user it could have many other ways to use, like managing expenses or tracking maintenance reports.

Smartsheets is amazing when it works, but very frustrating when workarounds are necessary
What do you like best about the product?
Smartsheet shines the most when used as intended - as a project management software. We use it most to track track product testing (single tasks, not ongoing complex projects) and it works very well most of the time. The forms for other people to submit requests for testing is one of our most-used features and the report item is perfect for a summary of the whole team's projects. The ability to create a dashboard as a single destinationt to send colleagues to where they can see links to all of our forms is also very nice. The ability to automatically fill out a PDF with information based on column values is one of my favorite features that saves me a lot of time.
Overall, Smartsheets is very easy to use once everything has been set up and makes workflows easier to track.

What do you dislike about the product?
While some things in smartsheet are very intuitive and just work, there are a large number of things that I think should work, but don't. For example, it seems like it should be possible to be able to copy the value of one cell to another using automation, but it's not a feature smartsheet has included. There are also some automations that only work on certain types of cells and not others - such as the "change cell value" automation not working on date fields. It is very frustrating when something called "smart"sheets isn't so smart when it comes to features that intuitively feel like they should work.
When it comes to all of these lacking features, there is sometimes a workaround to achieve the same result, but the workarounds are usually tedious and clunky. In addition, asking for features through the community is very hit or miss - there are some feature requests that have been around 5+ years that are highly supported by the community yet very few of those have made it into newer versions of Smartsheets. One of these requests that would help our team tremendously would be the ability to enter multiple rows from the same form as we very often have requests where very little changes between the requests (often just a single field). Despite hours of research and trying workarounds, we have not found a better way than having people submit multiple similar requests.

Smartsheet is helping us track requests between different departments more easily than using email, as it allows the people in charge of various request types to easily see overviews of what has been submitted and manage priorities. This has helped requests from falling through the cracks, as we occasionally had happen before.

What do you like best about the product?
My favorite thing about smartsheet is team collboration. It is very easy and straight forward to setup workflows to get approval, set up reminders, and be notified when changes to your sheet are made. I also enjoy the forms feature where you create a survey/quiz and capture responses without having to use another website.
What do you dislike about the product?
My least favorite thing about smartsheet has to do with limitations with filtering. I need to filter for many values that change on a consistent basis and I can't just copy and paste the list I need to filter for, I have type one value at time which is time consuming.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
With people I collaborate with working all across the country in different locations and time zones, it makes colloborating and communication easier. It also helps me stay on top of things with its alerts and reminders.
