Useful for Nuanced SMB Workflows and Project Management
What do you like best about the product?
Our Small/Medium company utilizes Smartsheet frequently for workflow management. Through the use of intake forms and alerts, information is flowing to the right people at the right time and is accessible to those who need it. We have many different lines of business so the customization of forms is helpful.
From a Project Management perspective, we utilize our own built templates and this works well for repeatable projects.
When we are interfacing on projects with other companies who utilize Smartsheet, its helpful to be able to access each others sheets and the consistency in format and system is helpful for users.
The account managers have been helpful when we have questions or need additional guidance on setting up certain aspects of the system.

What do you dislike about the product?
There is a bit of a learning curve to really utilize Smartsheet to its full potential. There are numerous ways to add alerts, link items, add context and files to tasks and sheets but overall the casual user is likely looking for something a bit more intuitive. Smartsheet does have instructional videos and even certification for those interested in learning more. In our case, we have a Smartsheet admin who is certified who ends up provisioning and setting up many of the workflows and templates on behalf of users who dont have the time or patience for the setup of the sheets.
With the competitive nature of this type of software I think companies are also looking at products that are more visually appealing and intuitive to a wide variety of users.
I also feel that the portfolio management aspects of the system are lacking, or at least are cumbersome to get to a point to meet our needs. We had explored this with our account manager, and ended up being referred to a third party support vendor to help us get our PPM setup dialed in.
With the competitive nature of this type of software I think companies are also looking at products that are more visually appealing and intuitive to a wide variety of users.

Workflow management has been a primary benefit of Smartsheet. Unique forms per service line with associated workflows allow us to pass information to the right people at the right time.

Project Management using Smartsheet
What do you like best about the product?
Smartsheet is an excellent way to simultaneously manage several projects. The spreadsheet design makes the application intuitive and easy to use. Our team uses the dashboard features almost everyday. It is great for cross-team collaboration. Multiple users can input data at the same time and refresh dashboards in real-time. Since many of us were Excel users, it was easy to implement the product. There is customer support available when you get stuck on a problem. We've successfully integrated the Smartsheet platform in our team's operational and project management.
What do you dislike about the product?
Smartsheet is very easy to use. however some of the formatting can be a little bit limiting and difficult. It doesn't yet have the customizabilty of Excel. I've found that some of the alignment of data in the cells is a little bit clunky. Sometimes I would prefer left justify, but the data is a little bit off kilter. Other than that very small issue, I think Smartsheet is great.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our team loves using the Smartsheet application for project management. Each member of our team has their own Smartsheet that they can input their own data in. The indvidual Smartsheets can then feed into dashboards in real-time. Our team has over 10 major dashboards that we routinely share with Executive leadership. We've also implemented a PTO calendar that allows for a single source of truth across our team. We love the ability to use Smartsheet and get away from the Microsoft products all the time. Smartsheet is benefiting our team by simplifying data entry and allowing quick and clean reporting.
Versatile managment Software Platform
What do you like best about the product?
The software is a user-friendly online platform that offers convenient access and a wide range of features for project management, organizational and vendor management, workflow design, and operations. The vendor provides additional customized design and workflow assistance to assist organizations to get up and running.
What do you dislike about the product?
The product is still developing and needs more integration and interoperability features. I perceive it will add these and expand the functionality as it grows for more excellent usability.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartsheets allow our organization to manage simple to complex projects, and create tasks and project plans to provide communication and tracking. The software aids in creating an organizational structure for efficient and effective business workflow and decision-making. The platform allows the business to integrate with some of our legacy tools, enhancing productivity and operations.
Good software for project management
What do you like best about the product?
It's easy to use and there are many different features included, like the dependencies and lags. The Gantt charts look really nice. I also like that it's integrated to Outlook, so you can notify users about their tasks directly to their emails.
What do you dislike about the product?
The software is great, so not a lot of cons. One thing that could be improved is the possibility of adding a baseline to the projects on Smartsheet, to compare with the real execution later. That would be very useful.

Smartsheet helps us keep the projects and initiatives on track, and we got way more efficient after we started using Smartsheet.

What do you like best about the product?
I love the automation workflows, where I can set up alerts for project team members to know an action assigned to them is fast approaching and to prompt their response.
What do you dislike about the product?
Smartsheet requires new users need to set up an account and therefore I need to provide instructions to those colleagues.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It saves me times to follow up on actions, so as a project manager, I can concentrate on the important aspects like stakeholder management instead.
Great tool for automating processes
What do you like best about the product?
This tool helps us stay organized as a growing company with a lot of moving parts. We love the automation piece that helps us trigger actions to keep us on track.
What do you dislike about the product?
Very hard to get someone to get in contact with us to change the admin on the sheet when someone left the organization.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The automation piece is helping us move at a faster speed versus emailing individually. At one point we used it to automate our onboarding process.
Good for keeping track of projects
What do you like best about the product?
I like that it provides dates and a way to keep track of not only if the dates are met, but if it is handed off to the next people, and the reminders via email.
What do you dislike about the product?
It seems overly complicated to use, and the reminders of dates/handoffs don't provide a direct link to the line/sheet in question.

It solves knowing when and where things are due, who has responsibility, and keeping track of projects all in one place.
Smartsheet has revolutionized my training request mechanism
What do you like best about the product?
Smartsheet has automation that is vital for communicated to important stakeholders. My team cannot work without the automation. This platform has made communication with team members that I do not get to see in person very often, seem like they are right next to me. It has steamlined timing and organized future training projects. We are very well planned and we do not miss anything. I also love the fact that I can continually improve these sheets with more ablities. Data can be sent to a specific person or group and I know that they have the information that they need. I have built in automation that lets me know when change happen and what I need to do to update it. Everyone that has used these Smartsheets has said how easy it is to use. My team got it right away. I also use Smartsheet for tracking data of certifications, who is trained in what and when. Also when they need to be recertified. I use this everyday. It is my lifeline to our business. Its has revolutionized my training request mechanism. I love it!
What do you dislike about the product?
I do wish there were some features that could improve. Like the speed of which the automations happen. At times the timing is a bit slow. I also would like that you could copy more than 500 lines of data at a time. For me that is too small. I use 2000+ lines at a time for record keeping. I also would like more cells 500000 is not enough. I create sheets that work together moving data into storage sheets, and back up copies of certifactions. Sometimes the sheets get full very quickly.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
In the past there was a verity of ways that training requests came in. It was inconsistent and much was word of mouth. There was not way to track consistently when, who and what was being trained. We also have to track the hours used for these trainings so that we can plan and execute to that plan. I created entry forms for our production teams to enter requests for specific departments. Specific managers would request for their team members to be trained in a specific process. All of this is now tracked. The manager gets an email at each step of the way from submission to approval to a change in team member or change in date. I also created formulas to calculate the proper hours for each training according to how many team members are trained at the same time. I send out a 3 week plan and we hit that mark very consistently because of this system. I also have solved unplanned training by limiting when training requests dates can be entered through the form. If I set it to 2 weeks out they cannot enter it any earlier. Without that request the training does not happen. Our operations team has learned that they need to request early to get their training on the books. At time I have had to adjust the open window to 4 weeks and it was not an issue for operations to learn. I no longer have to battle against unplanned training. Smartsheet is amazing for me. I cannot say enough good things about it.
