Smartsheet - A Great Tool for Collaborative Business
What do you like best about the product?
One of my favorite things about smartsheet is how easy it is to setup. Anytime our team needs to track new projects, it's simple to add them in and quickly update relevant fields. We use it weekly to keep track of all the projects our team is working on, and appreciate that it allows us to store attachments and other files within the sheets themselves, so we can easily keep track of project notes and documentation.
What do you dislike about the product?
One of the downsides of Smartsheet is that, while there are a variety of ways to view the data, there aren't necessarily great ways to interact with the data in other formats. At least personally, I would love to see the ability to create something like a Kanban board, and have that interact with a smartsheet to populate data based on how cards are added, moved, etc.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The biggest problem it's solving is project tracking for our team. Previously, we did not have a great way to keep track of what projects each person was working on, the status of those projects, and other important items such as budget and deliverables. Smartsheet not only has provided us a way to keep track of all the projects, but also allows us to do so in a collaborative fashion, where we can each easily update the same project planning documents without running into version issues.
User friendly and does it job
What do you like best about the product?
I like about smartsheet is that the I can create multiple sheets, share, and collab in just 1 application.
What do you dislike about the product?
I guess the fees associated with it. But still does the job for free users.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Saves us time cause we dont need to go to different apps for our specific data need. we can create tables, sheets etc and share it within the group.
Smartsheet is the best chart manager.
What do you like best about the product?
Regarding use of a tool such as smartsheet on my various projects, I must admit that it’s the gantt chart functionality that impresses me the most. We have used it as a benchmark for tracking our project schedule and showing where we should concentrate since there are several critical paths. Smoothening of numerous creases that we have faced while managing tasks across diverse platforms because of this integration with office 365. Conditional logic in project sheets is very convenient, and it allows us add dynamics to our work. This is the reason why Smartsheet has become an instrument of choice in my toolbox.
What do you dislike about the product?
However, its reporting can be fine-tuned and improved. Compared to specially developed software such as Microsoft Power BI. Even though I can visualise complex datasets in my mind, I sometimes find this task a bit laborious – an obstacle for Cloud-based projects that may include different tiers of data analysis and maturity.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartsheet has been instrumental in improving our team’s project management process, giving us a common forum for sharing information towards a common goal. Coordination takes up much less of our time, so we can dedicate it to the real job rather than managing. It’s been one of the best investments within our team productivity and development.
Smartsheet: a highly functional tool with work to do to keep up
What do you like best about the product?
Smartsheet gives users significant capability to design and create a suite of tools bespoke and therefore well suited to the needs of their business. Though this can be complex, it's multifunctionality is a particular strongpoint.
What do you dislike about the product?
When working to build more basic projects, other PM tools e.g. Asana have greater "out of the box" functionality, with much simpler to make/ build dashboards.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartsheet is being used as the primary business and programme management platform, with multiple interlinking portfolios of work being linked together by 'Hubs', which act in a similar way to an intranet. This is benefitting the organisation by giving greater visibility of complex overlapping and often interlinked event project workbooks. Event Management is a distinct challenge from a programme management point of view, and requires adaptation of the traditional PM skillset. Smartsheets versatile functionality helps with this.
Smartsheet Tracking and To-Do List
What do you like best about the product?
Building out To-Do List for team and abilty to add weblinks
What do you dislike about the product?
No autosave!?!? Sometimes I lose my work.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I like Smartsheet because it is always available and my team can check off things as they get them done...so it feels colaborative.
Great for automating tasks
What do you like best about the product?
I love to use smartsheets as a way to digitize and automate reoccuring tasks. It cuts down on paper use and makes it very convenient to pull data.
What do you dislike about the product?
Smartsheets can be a great tool for educators and academics, however, I feel there is a lack of guides and information specifically for this field.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smarsheet is helping to collect lots of data quickly and effectively. We are seeing more user feedback because of the accessible and user-friendly forms created on this platform.
Great in an active team environment
What do you like best about the product?
Immediate (almost) updates, which allow for simultaneous updates by multiple members of a team. Great for collaboration in our remote environment. Building reports and dashboards are easy.
What do you dislike about the product?
Linking cells in other sheets is iffy, updates are not always immediately seen. We use many sheets in our dashboards and there are delays in getting the updates propogated.
Still have not figured out an easy way to set up a project timeline without gutting my scheduling worksheets and starting over.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We track timelines for our projects, with scheduled dates and actuals, and there are often multiple updates at once by different team members. SS is much easier to use than Excel for this.
Project Manager
What do you like best about the product?
Timeline functionality is great and the ability to link between timelines is helpful to automatically update interdependent timelines.
We also use smart sheets for DPS and it's very easy to work with as far as duplicating rows/columns without fomatting issues.
Aggregating hourly estimates for our weekyl resourcing meetings is also seamless; I've used propriety resourcing software in the past that was really finnicky and didn't alway work properly.

What do you dislike about the product?
It would like the ability to hyperlink specific text within a cell to link to different URLs. This would allow me to handoff detailed coverage sheets with links to Jira tickets, Teams Channels etc. without creating a number of new cells or rows etc.
We are also using reporting functionality that links timeline cells to reporting dashboards. When a row is inserted into the timeline, it breaks the link to another sheet. I would like the system to know that it still should point to the same cell/row without having to re-link.
When relinking cells to another sheet, SS does not automatically show the updated cell and I often have to save, reload and enter it again due to a bug. The sheet should automatically populate the value of the linked cell to show that is has worked properly.
Also, when linking another cell to another sheet, the search functionality to that other timeline is cumbersome. We have 100s of timelines and I only need to see my teams' sub folder. Limited view would helpful.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The ability to quickly duplicate timelines and forecast project milestones to allow for project planning is the best thing about smart sheets. Our marketing projects require very specific cadences as defined by our client's review board cadence. Submissions and review dates need to fall on specific weekdays. This means we need to see how holidays, client PTO etc affect our submissions. Smart sheets allows for quick and easy updating to hit the cadence we need and show full timeline duration for validation prior to kicking off projects.
Shared Smartsheets in Workforce
What do you like best about the product?
I love that we have a simply way to use a live document to track change. One of my favorite features is the cell history. I also like that I can see who has accessed one of my sheets.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish it had tabs like excel does, it would make things easier.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have a LOT of people involved in our intake and distribution of goods. Smartsheets allows us to track who is up next for a task and automates emails to our outside donors and vendors.
