An advanced version of Excel, missing only a few features.
What do you like best about the product?
I love that teammates are able to be in the program and utilize features (including updating) in real time.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's incredibly difficult to import and export in the program.

Unmatched for Team Project Management
What do you like best about the product?
I like that we can collaborate with other team members when managing projects. In our organization, we have a host of projects that are running simultaneously. With that said, it is nice that everyone can see all projects (even the ones that they are not assigned) just to be familiar with the progress of a project. Also, assigning team members to tasks has been especially helpful so that we know who's responsible for a certain tasks. Lastly, I like that Smartsheet is intuitive and personalizable. The flexibility and ease of tools that are available allow me to customize each project sheet according to the project's needs.
What do you dislike about the product?
The downsides of Smartsheet is the cost. For smaller organizations it may be harder for them to afford the tool, and in my opinion, of all the tools I have tried Smartsheet is the best. In our organization, there are some changes we have had to make with licensing due to cost.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartsheet helps our organization to keep all projects in one place, and allows members of our organization (whether licensed or not) to be able to view progress of the projects.

What do you like best about the product?
I love how immersive each type of document is with each other. I like being able to connect my documents and always be referencing back to things, so I don't have to fill in the same information multiple times. I like the formulas where you just tell it what you're trying to do by filling out boxes based on the prompts.
What do you dislike about the product?
I do not like how when I change something or mess up, it is really difficult to get the document history to be able to go back to a point where everything was working. Since a lot of my documents are intertwined, when I make a mistake on one, I break a lot of other documents that I don't even know about. It would also be awesome to see a tree of how all my documents are connected (which I know this would probably be difficult to visualize).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
In order to stay on track, we keep schedules and statuses in Smartsheet. We also use this to keep track of any problems we are having on a project. It is a super quick, and easy way to look at everything in a glance.

The functionality of filters and automation codes and completely different from Excel which takes a little while to get used to.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We wanted to devise a coherent Project Management approach which could be used for all PMs across the Globe. SmartSheet's has enabled us to create an Intake Form which then autonomously creates a Project Folder within a dedicated Project Workspace, ensuring all projects have the same documents and layout for all users. This has enabled not only document repositories to be consistent but also enable an easy transition from Excel for all PMs.

Smartsheet has been a game-changer for organizing and streamlining our work. I really appreciate how flexible it is—you can start with something as simple as a task list and gradually build it into a full-fledged project tracker with automations, dashboards, and reporting.
What I like most is the balance between spreadsheet familiarity and project management features. It’s easy for new users to pick up, yet powerful enough to handle complex workflows. Automations (like alerts and reminders) save a lot of manual follow-ups, and the ability to integrate with other tools makes it even more versatile.
The collaboration aspect is also strong—sharing sheets, assigning tasks, and tracking progress in real time keeps everyone aligned. Dashboards are a great way to give leadership a high-level view while the team can dive into details as needed.
If there’s one area for improvement, it would be enhancing the mobile experience for more advanced use cases, but overall, Smartsheet is a reliable platform that adapts well to both structured projects and ad-hoc work.

While Smartsheet is powerful, I wish it offered smoother ways to hide and collapse columns and to save filtered views more easily. Having these features as quick toggles—similar to how you can in spreadsheets—would make navigating large sheets much simpler.

Smartsheet helps us bring structure and visibility to projects that would otherwise be managed in scattered spreadsheets, emails, or chat threads. It centralizes work into one place, making it easier to track tasks, deadlines, and ownership. Automations reduce manual follow-ups, dashboards provide leadership with quick insights, and collaboration features keep the entire team aligned. Overall, it saves time, improves accountability, and helps us scale processes without losing control.

What do you like best about the product?
I like the customization that it offers for different applications. The site was very easy to get everyone trained on and Smartsheets has a good support team for helping that happen. The smartsheets team did a great job at designing the application to match our needs and walking through the process with us.

We do seem to have frequent times where the website is down. By down, I mean it doesn't load the dashboard I use.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We had a very difficult time tracking progress within our improvement teams. We were never on the same page and things were getting pushed down the pipeline. Smartsheets allowed us to set up dashboards where everyone can track each others projects on initiatives, as well as send out reminders. This increased transparency across the team a lot.
Efficient way to communicate across multi-functional matrixed teams
What do you like best about the product?
Allows for the creation of multiple dependencies, where completion of one or more tasks will trigger the start or feed into the gating parameters of the next series of tasks. I also love the auto-generation of Gantt charts/ timelines and the ability to filter for Critical tasks.
What do you dislike about the product?
Requires some upfront training from a Smartsheet user and can get overwhelming for new users at the start. The mini training modules are somewhat helpful but too general, and team-specific recommendations/ training were essential. Perhaps come up with several use cases/ examples?

It facilitates inter-team communication and handoff expectations. Also the ability to edit in parallel (live) is outstanding.

I really like how flexible it is. It’s great for when we need to track project statuses because you can set it up however you need. Makes it easy to see where lots of different teams statuses are when we are unable to meet in person/with frequency.
It’s also helpful for collaborating with others, especially when it comes to our payment requests. You can leave comments, set up reminders, and keep everything in one place instead of chasing emails.

What do you dislike about the product?
Some things can feel a bit clunky, especially when setting up more complex sheets or automations — it’s not always super intuitive. Permissions can also get confusing if you’re working with a lot of different people.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It helps me keep track of project progress without digging through emails or spreadsheets. I can easily see where things stand, work with others on payments, and keep all the records in one place. It saves time and keeps everything way more organized than an Excel sheet that only allows one user to edit at a time.
I think we could do more to utilize some of Smartsheet's other data analysis features though.

Centralized and Dependable for Property Management
What do you like best about the product?
I appreciate that Smartsheet provides a centralized storage solution for all our property-related documents, making it easy for both myself and corporate to access and review files, even from out of state. I love its straightforward functionality, which is beneficial for holding and sharing essential company documents.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is nothing I dislike about smartsheet.

I use Smartsheet to centralize and store all our property-related data, enabling corporate access and streamlining information sharing across states.
