Useful for tasking tools
What do you like best about the product?
assigning tasks and managing deadlines with other colleagues.
What do you dislike about the product?
linking between sheets is clunky. frequently signs me out.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
managing larger deadlines and other smaller day to day taks.
For every positive there's a drawback
What do you like best about the product?
Being able to assign work and progress through checklists/processes easily. The reporting does a good job of putting everything together in a way that's easy to digest and share. It is a fairly robust platform.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are some things that just make using it difficult. It's close to being Excel, but not quite. Some of the formulas don't make sense. It's difficult to work not in the direct way Smartsheets wants you to. I want to have dynamic use of a column (but I'm often stuck into one specific drop down or a date, etc). It can be combersome.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are able to use it to quickly setup a process and assign work to the appropriate people in the appropriate order.
Good Tool for Collaboration, but Needs UI and Performance Improvements
What do you like best about the product?
Smartsheet provides great functionality managing timesheets and planning tasks as we presently use that for all employees and contractors. The timesheet functionality is usable for simple projects but complex tasks entry may require time consuming repeative tasks.
What do you dislike about the product?
The user interface and overall experience could be more simplified. It is cumbersome and frustrating at times, and the planning boards lack the seamlessness I would expect for efficient project management. This is especially when we are not following templates. Additionally, there are performance challenges when using Safari on Mac, with pages sometimes loading slowly and interactions lagging, which disrupts productivity. I would also hope simplified authentication when using SSO.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartsheet solves our timesheet problem seamlessly. We use the boards to manage our project management and keep track of work tasks for all projects.
Easy & quick to use

Easy to use, quick to input and update information.

Permissions are tricky. Reporting capabilities not great.

Keeping track of project tasks, milestones, and schedule.
Smartsheet is flexible, but there's almost too many options and it's too expensive
What do you like best about the product?
Like that we have the ability to use Smartsheet for a number of different solutions. It's a very flexible product.
What do you dislike about the product?
Flexibility is also difficult because you have to be the one to configure it and figure out how to use it. I also think that they're charging a lot for the product. I have also run into things randomly breaking.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We can see all marketing requests and projects in one place; we can use it for an editorial calendar.
Overall it's been a good experience.

I can easily search for a solution for any problem I have using Smartsheet University.

User interface isn't always as clean or easy to navigate.

It houses all project information and links to project documents I use.
All-encompassing project management
What do you like best about the product?
There are many unique features of Smartsheet that I like such as the ability to upload attachments to a cell, its advanced calculation functions, and the ability to share easily.
What do you dislike about the product?
I think sometimes the product could be a bit easier to use, it is not always the most intuitive.

It allows our team to easily connect with other groups where our work overlaps. It provides a place where we can collaborate effectively.
Excel Spreadsheet on steroids, with steep learning curve
What do you like best about the product?
I like the fact that it looks familiar and has lots of functionality simliar to what you would find in Monday.com or Workfront.
What do you dislike about the product?
The simpler, spreadsheet like interface is deceiving. I found it sub-par for handling complex workflows, and the "advanced automation" requires much more manual configuration than I enjoyed with Workfront.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Iron Mountain uses Smartsheet for tracking projects across the Marketing Department. I found the trainings offered either way too simplified or way too complex. However, we do benefit from the collaboration and tracking such as timeline visuals and task organization lists.
Good Product with Minor Enhancements Could Be Great
What do you like best about the product?
The item that I like best about Smartsheet is the quick ability to add columns with different data types. It is straightforward and can be picked up by any user.
I also enjoy it being web based to allow for sharing and editing with team members outside of your organziation.

What do you dislike about the product?
I would prefer if Smartsheet was able to successors and predecessors. This would allow the tool to act as a project plan and have dependencies taken into accounts with dates.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are using it mainly as a Project and Portfolio management tool.

I liked the ability to keep track of tasks and the ability to integrate them in a visual dashboard

For a newcomer, I can see how creating a dashboard or resource view can be too complex
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartsheet allows multiple views to be shown with the ability to keep track of tasks assigned to resources such as gantts, grid, timeline etc.
