Reeman Constructions - Thoughts on Smartsheet
What do you like best about the product?
1. Smartsheet simplified MS project environment. Smartsheet has provided our site supervisors who had no real experience in project management software with a tool that is a familiar looking environment that has reduced stress when it comes to reporting.
2. Being able to use Excel formulas in sheets.
3. Collaboration tagging consultants and subcontractors with the comments; the simplicity of this function has given us faster turnaround on questions and responses that are required.
4. Automation has allowed us to plugin collaborative web parts into SharePoint; this has saved us lots of time and is much simplier than using complicated SharePoint calendering functions

What do you dislike about the product?
The filtering of columns lacks functionality; it would be helpful if the filter string were constructed and then just unchecked rather than deleting them all the time. If the functionality was like excel here it would work better.
Printing of large Gantt charts, having some way of specifying a page break and previewing it before printed would be a life changer for me. ;)
Having to pay more money for the activity feature ;)
The automation workflows don't allow us to use the Assigned column, there are times where copying from another column where a specific condition into this field would be handy, allowing for the final part of that workflow to send someone a task or add an activity.

We can provide real-time data to consultants and clients, controlling views and encouraging collaboration has improved scheduling and improved processes that cause lag and delays to milestones.
Simplified conditional formating provides easy-to-read dashboards and exportable reports.
It is reduced the learning ramp for new supervisors and project managers & technology gaps, which has resulted in a fast turnaround of project snapshots.
Scheduling calendars that start in Smartsheet and have some automation added, the integration with SharePoint has been considerable time and visibility improvement.

Small business that needed a solution for growing workforce
What do you like best about the product?
Allows our team to be ontop of ordering stock and well as workshop jobs. No need to ask the correct staff memeber. Check the sheet and have the answeres needed.
What do you dislike about the product?
The ability to email a line through once changed.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are using smart sheet as an order so that anyone in the business can add an item to be ordered. A benefit is the ability to send that line via email to let the person know it needs to be ordered urgently.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
We have never experienced a down day with smart sheet. Very reliable business soloution

What do you like best about the product?
The interface is very easy to setup and manage for our business requirements, also offering a good user experience for staff. In-built functionality covers the majority of our requirements, with simple workarounds for anything else.
What do you dislike about the product?
Limited functionality when compared to MS Project. In most cases, a way forward can be found by altering business processes, but it would be preferable to have that flexibility in the software.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Simplified project management with the ability to share project reports with external customers, and team/client transparency and collaboration with regards to tools for managing internal tools such as timesheets, operational logs, change management logs etc

Great tool if you don't need a full-featured application such as MS Project

What do you like best about the product?
The possibilty to collaborate on project timelines with other team mebers.
What do you dislike about the product?
The "save" is not practical if several team members are updating the same smartsheet simultaneously.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Project timelines. Conditional formatting is very useful to find project tasks that are on track or lagging.
Efficient Project Management Tool
What do you like best about the product?
I like that it has all the functionality of Excel and the simplicity of a collaboration tool.
What do you dislike about the product?
The mobile app could be a bit more responsive when filling out sheets. It works well just wish the UI was more efficient so we don't have to carry laptops around to use it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's a great collaboration tool and allows my team to update each other on current projects. The mobile app allows us to update the sheets in real-time without using our laptops. It also let's us manage workflow items so that we make sure processes are working as efficiently as possible, and that they are being completed accurately.

It is easy to share, and the storage is really good.

Limited users and not plans for non-profits.

Easy to collaborate with others on projects, status updates; real time sync; rule based automation and notification save you time on some of the manual tasks

I am just a basic level user so could not think of anything that missed my expectation

We are using SmartSheet for project management and status updates - it's just easy to collaborate

What do you like best about the product?
Workflow management and the ability to create sheets that feed into specific reports. Our team runs weekly reports based off of these numbers, and this saves me a ton of time on Mondays.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish you could track when emails are released.

A Versatile Tool for Project Management with Minor Limitations
What do you like best about the product?
The notifications feature is great for ensuring all team members are aware of upcoming deadlines and keeps us all on track. I like being able to customize when each person receives their notification before a deadline, meaning that everyone has the advanced notice they need to complete the task. I also like the contitional formatting features to keep the sheet clean and organized with little front-end effort. I don't have time to make those small changes to the sheet throughout the project, and conditional formatting makes it a breeze. The integration with other tools like Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and various third-party apps streamlines workflows, enhancing productivity.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish there were a way to have multiple pages within a sheet, similar to Excel. I've had several occasions where smaller projects are linked to a bigger project, and having "sub-pages" attached to the bigger project in one sheet would have kept each of those smaller projects more organized and cleaner. I would also like to see those sub-pages have custom permissions so that one person could have access to a sub-page but not the entire project.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I'm able to keep my sanity with Smartsheet. I work with multiple departments and outside vendors, and being able to keep my work organized in Smartsheet means I'm using a lot fewer sticky notes. I can assign tasks to outside departments, keep track of due dates, and easily make adjustments by dragging and dropping rows or changing task statuses.

Smartsheet is a robust tool that is useful for project management and task organization, whether you're a team or an individual. The community and knowledge base are invaluable to learning the product and making full use of all of the features and tools within the platform.
