So much better than Google Sheets
What do you like best about the product?
It's easy to create timelines and shift them as needed. Provides a very visual way to see the project plans.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is no way to link spreadsheets and have them automatically update each other. There is no way to sync it with Asana.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are keeping projects on track and all parties updated on the next steps.
Does a great job mostly but lags in saving massive amounts of data and support is lacking
What do you like best about the product?
SS is extremely versatile and can do just about anything. My company actually utilizes it for solutions it isn't even meant for, which is a huge plus. It's flexible in that everything is done through a spreadsheet-like interface, so it's very easy to create reporting, pull info, etc. It's also very intuitive for the most part, with familiar iconography for things like uploading files, and lots of features for various views. My favorite is the calendar view, which does cost more, but it's very affordable. On the whole, SS is quite cheap for what it does. It also integrates with APIs (easy implementation), which is huge, meaning we can use this every day for various needs.
What do you dislike about the product?
For our business, I wish smartsheet had a better interface for CRM. We use it for this, but it clearly isn't meant for it. I wish it also had text suggest in the sheets. You can only have that if you set it up a certain way, so some sheets take more time to work in than others. As we grow, I think we'll outgrow Smartsheet, so I do wish it had more growth to it for bigger companies. We've been using them now for about 5 years and we have to migrate sheets yearly due to overloading the system with too much data. It's not a huge issue but it does mean work takes longer. Also, customer support is pretty awful to try and get a hold of for anything meaningful.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We track advertisement placements on our site through smartsheet, which it isn't actually meant to do but does great for our business. We also use it as a small CRM, to keep track of selling pipelines, and for various reports. It helps us get both a bird's eye view and very granular data on every brand we work with, our selling processes, and any roadblocks.
A good mid-level project management tool
What do you like best about the product?
The Smartsheet team is frequently adding new features to the tool. A recent exciting example is card view which allows the tool to adapt to kanban-forward organizations and teams' needs. The support team is very responsive and proactive.
What do you dislike about the product?
Smartsheet won't offer as robust of features that you might be used to in more enterprise tools. We could also benefit from more enhanced linkages/integrations to ticket softwares.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have used Smartsheet to create executive dashboards for progress on large, enterprise-wide initiatives. The tool allows us to monitor and control progress and display it in a very straightforward way to leadership and customers.
User-friendly product with helpful project management tools!
What do you like best about the product?
The ease of use has been a great feature for Smartsheets. I love how easily one can transitionsfrom grid view, to calendar view to viewing it in a Kanban card style manner. In the 4 years I have been using the platform, I've found that I've only scratched the surface on the capabilities. In the last year and a half, I've noticed that Smartsheets have expanded their portfolio of services and pre-built dashboards and sheets. Their customer service is strong.
What do you dislike about the product?
The formula development in Smartsheet can be a bit challenging. There are a ton of forums that can help one navigate this. However, more intuitive use of formulas would be better.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Smartsheets to help project manage significant projects in a startup. The projects can be both large and small in scope. We have also begun using their resource management feature which is informative. Additionally, I use it as a tool that can share documents and spreadsheets to various people. Being able to be in the document at teh same time is incredibly useful. I like being able to link cells to other sheets and documents to see a bigger picture.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Use the helpdesk and forums to help support any questions you may have on using the product.
A fast, functional and fun product to map our your project timelines in a whim!
What do you like best about the product?
Smartsheet is extremely intuitive and I love the fact that I can duplicate my existing templated timelines to whip up a new project timeline in the matter of minutes. I especially like that I can split up my phases and conceal and hide them under drop-downs so that when I need to share these to clients/internal colleagues, I can target/separate those accordingly to audience.
What do you dislike about the product?
I absolutely hate the fact that Public Holidays are not factored into Smartsheet - this is an utter annoyance because I have to manually calculate these myself and add these as part of that phase/tasks duration. Please give us an option to add these across regions, please! For example, I map out timelines across different locations (Australia and New Zealand) and I would love for it to be able to populate the public holidays so I don't have to calculate these myself. This would enable some more accurate forecasting and help me crunch out these timelines faster!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Allowing me to add dependancies, I'm able to accurately forecast when deliverables are able to be completed and ultimately, the critical path. Smartsheet has also supported me in providing realistic expectations of project deliveries to my clients due to their dependancies (i.e, if you provide us x dependancy by x date, then we could bring in the timelines, or vice versa, if you provide this late, this is going to stretch our timeline out and we won't be able to get to market at the desired timeline).
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Create a standard baseline timeline template and duplicate this to churn your timelines out faster!
Smartsheet has become an invaluable tool for my daily tasks
What do you like best about the product?
Smartsheet is very intuitive, so users can ramp up quickly.
With proper user adoption, Smartsheet becomes the "source of truth" for projects I'm managing.
Considering these projects include up to 30 different resources (co-workers, client Subject Matter Experts, and third-party integrated service vendors) Smartsheet allows all stakeholders access to the latest detail on all aspects of a project without having to hunt through email.
Using Comments/Conversations in Smartsheet allows a single continuous thread for any given topic, so you have one place to go for the latest and greatest info on any specific issue.
Sheet Summaries allow you to compress the level of detail needed for higher-level reporting directly within a sheet.
Reports & Dashboards mesh data across multiple sheets (aggregate resource loads, capacity across all projects, aggregate sales pipelines across multiple products or service lines, etc.) allowing a stakeholder one-stop-shopping for items that may exist in multiple sheets.
Automation workflows allow stakeholders to be notified of critical events (changes to resources on a task, changes to due dates, tasks that are late or upcoming within the next XX days, etc.) without a PM having to manually initiate the action item. These workflows can employ if/then conditional logic to take different actions based on specific conditions, certain dates being reached, etc.
I wish I had found Smartsheet at the BEGINNING of my career. At this point, I'm simply thrilled that we found it!

Reports should allow a user to drill directly into the row from the source sheet via hyperlink or "Link from a cell in another sheet" as you can within Sheets.
When drilling down to a row, the screen focus should bring you to the row.
The above link to source Row should be available through Control Center so that templates rolled out dynamically include the necessary Row URL's

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Visibility across the organization for resource allocation, sales pipeline, project pipeline $ and hours, consistent project management through the use of project template folders, exception management instead of hunting for potential problems, automated workflows
Smartsheet review
What do you like best about the product?
I like the ability to collaborate on scheduling tasks with other team members as well as the ease of creating schedules and assigning tasks. The customizing features help to create a very professional finished look for work that is shared to others outside of our organization
What do you dislike about the product?
The things I dislike with Smartsheet are that I do not agree with the limit to sheets per account. This creates a confusion of whether you are selling software or cloud space
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The problems we are solving at RGC with Smartsheet are ability to convert a Gantt chart from a timeline to a calendar, and this is helpful when in discussion with differing parties.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
We looked around and tried some other programs for the functions we needed and everyone at our firm decided that Smartsheet worked the best, and fulfilled the needs we had. I can not say enough about how much the ease of creating schedules with Smartsheet has helped even our least computer literate team members.
Real Estate Schedule and Budgets
What do you like best about the product?
The best thing for our team in Smartsheet is to have our various real estate transactions and construction schedule in one place. The alerts make sure we do not miss our targets and help us keep our projects on time or ahead of schedule! The mobile app is a bonus where we can be at a project site and easily review and adjust schedules as necessary. We now use the RAID (Risk, action, decision, in progress) log for each of our projects and use that to run our project meetings, so we focus on the items that need our attention.
What do you dislike about the product?
I understand why they can't but it would be beneficial to be able to export budgets with formulas in the sheet.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The big problem we are solving is eliminating late contract dates. With our schedules and alerts being utilized, we know well in advance what our next target dates are to make sure we reach them! Benefits: TIME SAVING by having all project schedules in one place and accessible to our whole team any time, any where.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
The implementation for us as a commercial real estate developer, was easy. There are a lot of moving pieces and even after 3 years we are still making changes to our Smartsheet process. But it is well worth the change.
Excellent Organization Tool
What do you like best about the product?
The vast array or organization tools and the Task Lists. I also love the ability to build out project schedules as these have become super useful for our company and projet a great outline of where teach project stands and what is remaining to complete. Smartsheets keeps me very organized and allows our team meetings to be very efficient and productive.
What do you dislike about the product?
Haven't found really any aspects that I "dislike" yet. We've been using it for several years and will continue using it for project management, schedules and developments, creating and managing individual and team tasks, and much more. I haven't really reached out to customer support for anything in the past, so I don't have much comment on how good their customer support is.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are solving issues that we've had with filing documents with the city to get our development projects entitled, we're collaborating on solutions for internal issues, and we're making sure to stay on top of all of our investment materials and investor relations. We've benefitted heavily from the schedule tracker and task lists.
Smartsheet as Operations workflow tool
What do you like best about the product?
Flexibility and inter-operation between sheets as well as portal functions
What do you dislike about the product?
Some inter-operations between sheets need enhancements, and formula variables are incomplete.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Smartsheets as central repository for documents and comments relating to specific projects and then combine the projects in a portal to see and adjust schedules and project interactions. So we solve the problem of having a central place everyone can look to see/track workflow and status on a specific project or overall schedule. Since we also use it as a doc repository, it is also the first place to look for a specific document or milestone on a project.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make sure you test/learn Smartsheets long enough to get a through understanding of the inter-operation of multiple sheets as well as implementing a portal. It can definitely do things that other alternatives can't accomplish.
