Bringing smart to the workspace
What do you like best about the product?
It's a good looking product, with some nice widgets.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not much. It takes a while to get used to but once you do, it's nice to use.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are using it for Project Management Office and for sprint planning. It's good to have the templates ready for use, which encourages a consistent look and feel. It is a bit challenging in terms of change management but then most things are.
Good project management alternative to MS Project. Great support.

Project Management and portfolio management. General use by other business depts for a wide variety of uses like questionaires, marketing, etc.
Good tool but require effort for management and efficient use
What do you like best about the product?
Timeline management functions are very easy to use. Added bonus when you can create different dashboards for yourself.
What do you dislike about the product?
The software is a great tool but requires efforts from project mangers to manage and make sure it's up to date. The functions and timelines can sometimes be too complex for people to use and it is not clear what is linked to what. The employees need more in depth trainings on how to use the software not just the project managers. Many people are not using it any more because of how complex it looks and the lack of training they are.
The business is still pushing for everyone to use more of it but even project managers sometimes revert back to excel, likely due to the above two points mentioned.

Smartsheet for Project Management
What do you like best about the product?
- The use of dependencies to create project plans - most PM softwares lack dependencies and Smartsheet makes it really easy to use them
- It's quite intuitive to use as a new software if you have any experience with excel
- Dashboards are good and easy to set up

What do you dislike about the product?
- Dated interface: The interface feels a bit dated compared to other PM softwares like Monday.com - it would be good if it didn't look exactly like Excel as when I share my screen to display the project plan people initially get intimidated
- More customisation: I have been able to set my brand colours and add a logo but beyond that there's not much I can customise (would like the ability to have more fonts etc)
- When you grant access to users on a business plan, it still nudges them to request a license: they don't need a license to view/edit plans so I wish Smartsheet would stop nudging them to buy a license as we then have so many license requests to clear out

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
- It's a great tool for storing and creating centralised project plans for the entire organisation.
- The ability to grant viewer access to unlicensed users is a big plus as most tools use a PEPM model and aren't suited for Project Management as only the PM really needs to make edits to plans

Works for most things we need
What do you like best about the product?
Smartsheet is relatively easy to learn, though I do have new users buck switching to a new platform. I do a lot of coordination, sheet creation, and Dashboard creation, so I see things that most of our team doesn't. From this perspective, I like how we can make customized dashboards for everyone in our organization. They are easy to make and link to spreadhseets, but I don't think the learning curve is low enough to make this accessible to people unfamiliar with online spreadsheet programs.
I like the automation options but would like to see improvements and additions. I have been able to create some pretty involved systems with a regex or 2 (or 8) and automation options paired with a Dashboard.

What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes with busy times of day, realtime updates are needed. You have to save in order to have things sync up. They have put safeguards in place like autosave and warnings, but it would be great if live edits were a part of the feature set.
A feature I would like to see is more styling options for Dashboards, like buttons and the ability to stylize grids. Right now you sort of have to hack together a label and make it clickable in order to give the impression of buttons and the grids look tiny and out of place in the only format that's currently available.
A pet peeve is that I wish the automation let you both change a date AND enter/edit information in a cell on the same workflow, but you have to make two seperate flows for these events, making the workflow list more difficult to manage.
Finally, and likely most critically, I would like to see the sign up and permissions more clearly explained to new users. Sometimes when I share a sheet or send automated emails, I end up getting license requests and confused users who think they need to buy a license in order to interact with the sheet. As a result, they end up telling me they can't see the sheet (when they do actually have the capability and just have to try again) because the new user sign-up experience is awkward and confusing.
