Expensive, but worthwhile
What do you like best about the product?
Smartsheet has enabled us to centralize processes (such as purchasing, scheduling, and hiring) which were historically done through e-mail. $689/user/year is steep, but the return on investment is sound. The software is simple enough for the average user to be able to navigate, but powerful enough for those who know how to use computers to get a lot out of.
What do you dislike about the product?
My biggest disappointment with Smartsheets is the lack of a programming language (like Excel's VBA) to compensate for the inexplicable gaps in features. It would, for instance, be nice to be able to require a character minimum in forms to stop users from simply entering a space in required fields.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartsheet has enabled us to collect ~ 90% of the information needed from users in one step, replacing the need for long e-mail chains which have a tendency to be lost. Simple additions (such as the previously mentioned character minimum in forms) would bring this figure as close to 100% as software is capable of.
It's a clean interface and is great for sharing data with others.
What do you like best about the product?
Super easy to work in the same document with other team members. It also helps force clean data in the way it's set up. It integrates well with Power Bi which is helpful for my work. Attaching items to rows is great as well.
What do you dislike about the product?
Don't expect it to be as powerful as excel. Not meant to be that flexible.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Centralized hub for information that multiple people track.
very efficient project management tool
What do you like best about the product?
I really like the dashboards, and that you can leave comments in Smartsheet's with multiple users, the input history is also very helpful
What do you dislike about the product?
no tabs like excel, bit tricky to create an Archive sheet, might helpful to have a hidden row function like excel, can sometimes be hard to input features/ copy paste large chunks of data and link Smartsheet's.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
just project management in general, good way to integrate work processes onto one dashboard
Smartsheet is great for projects, project management, etc
What do you like best about the product?
Accessibility, features, user friendly and display
What do you dislike about the product?
You run out of sheets quickly when working on several projects.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
A great space to organize all types of projects.
I created a full set of dashboard and KPI for my team
What do you like best about the product?
The reporting and dashboard function is the most useful one
What do you dislike about the product?
sometimes is frustrating to write long formulas
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Keeping track of project deliverable, timing, shcedule.
The tool supports me in managing my projects effectively across teams and countries
What do you like best about the product?
I like the ability to connect multiple sheets, or cells within sheets together, the different views you can select, and the ability to create multi layered child groups
What do you dislike about the product?
The pricing model change has caused big challenges/frustrations across our teams. We've also been disappointed with the lack of support, and awareness, of our account manager, making it feel like we've had to navigate this change alone.
Other areas for improvement are:
the update request feature - it's not very clear when requests have been added, or not added
I find the colour coding on the timeline view very clunky, and it would be great if instead you could right click on the task and choose a colour manually
The manual saving means people unfamiliar with how Smartsheet works regularly lose work because they assume it autosaves

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Solving: storing information in one centralised place, linking data from different sheets together
Benefits: ability to link cells across sheets, timeline views, predecessors

Great tool to manage projects and teams
What do you like best about the product?
The tool is very flexible and can be used for simple tasks like tracking but has all the features to utilise it for more complex plans, with conditional formatting and automations. It really helps to streamline some repetitive tasks and keeping on top of things such as deadlines and updates.
The templates are such a great resource as well meaning that you don't need to build common sheets from scratch and the accompanying reports and dashboards are a good starting point if you don't have experience building your own.
There's a good community board/forum which is great when you get stuck on something be it to find a solution or work around or just knowing that it's a product feature that doesn't exist so you know to move on.

What do you dislike about the product?
Setting up more complex reporting sets can be tricky even using the template sets and it's difficult to get hands on help to troubleshoot when stuck with a issue. Find equation/formulas and linking different cells to different pages sometimes quite confusing. Same with dashboards, seem to need to create lots of small reports from a sheet to be able to then feed it into a dashboard. More training material would be helpful, just a general library or even for the templates as the more advanced ones can be tricky.
The design of the tool also feels a bit outdated compared to some other project/resource management and tracking tools.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Better tracking of projects and automations for repetitive tasks.
We are an MSP who use Smartsheet for various purposes such as Onboarding/Offboarding/Feedback
What do you like best about the product?
I like how easy it is to navigate through the pages
What do you dislike about the product?
All of our onboarding is set up on different sheets for different clients, so when we make one change we need to make it on all the other forms too
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Having a location where we can view all responses to forms, and triggering alerts to us from this
Great planning tool
What do you like best about the product?
I really appreciate its ease of use, flexibility, and the strong integration capabilities.
It's an effective tool for managing projects, tracking tasks and collaborating with other teams. It's our main tool for planning activities. Dynamic views are truly advantageous, and the capacity to generate disparate views (grid, Gantt, card, calendar) facilitates seamless adaptation to diverse workflows.

What do you dislike about the product?
The user interface is really less intuitive and visually appealing compared to alternatives.
Its increasing cost can be a barrier for small teams or individuals on a budget.

It's very useful for planning and for the integration with other business tools
Experience using Smartsheet for Project and Portfolio Management
What do you like best about the product?
What I like best about Smartsheet is how visual and user-friendly it is. The ability to create customised dashboards and reports makes it incredibly effective for both Project and Portfolio Management. I also really appreciate the automation features—they help streamline our workflows by sending timely reminders to keep project updates on track.
What do you dislike about the product?
One drawback of Smartsheet is that it can feel a bit rigid at times. For example, there's a limit to the number of characters allowed in a single cell, and the platform doesn't currently support horizontal swimlanes, which would be useful for certain types of visual planning. Additionally, exporting a sheet into a Word document isn't very straightforward or user-friendly.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Smartsheet to manage, track and view our overall portfolio — to have one single source of truth that enables better, quicker decision-making, effective resource planning, and overall improved strategic alignment. In one view, we can view projects across the entire business, along with their priority, RAG status, Path to Green commentary and estimated launch date.
