Smartsheet’s Flexibility Makes Project Customization Easy
What do you like best about the product?
Smartsheet’s flexibility gives me the ability to customize it to fit what my projects need.
What do you dislike about the product?
My projects are date-dependent, so being able to use formulas (like in Excel) would make building and managing them much more efficient.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartsheet helps me stay better organized by keeping everything in one place. The reporting features also make it easier for me to maintain accurate, up-to-date records.
Powerful Automations and Real-Time Collaboration with Great Cell History
What do you like best about the product?
I like the automations, the ability for many people to work in the same file at the same time, the cell history, and the conditional formatting.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some features are still missing. For example, I’d like the ability to create hierarchies or dependencies between columns—so if column A contains X, then column B can only contain 1, 2, or 3. I’d also like the option to define custom data types for a cell beyond the standard date/time/number formats. For instance, it would be useful to enforce a code format made up of 2 letters followed by 6 numbers, and require that it always matches that pattern. Finally, having the ability to use colored headers would be a great addition.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It helps me highlight errors in my data more easily, and it also lets me work more efficiently with the team that completes the data.
Smartsheet was a game changer for the PMO
What do you like best about the product?
Change control, data management, program/project management functions and the ability to collaborate across a large organization. Development options of centralized reports.
What do you dislike about the product?
Non-licensed collaborators are very limited in their ability to use the system, we had to adjust the structure of our data management to accommodate. The prior non licensed structure was far better.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Moving from excel based data managament to smartsheets yielded mutiple solutions in change control, accuracy, reporting and colaboration. It facilitated the same level of colaboration through Covid that would not have been possible in the other systems.
Great Usability, Frustrating Licensing Model
What do you like best about the product?
I like Smartsheet because it's easy to use and I can assign contacts to it. The automation features are really helpful, and I also like the forms. They make managing and controlling business processes easier, along with the sharing functionality.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't like the new payment model or the licensing model. It's a lot of rubbish. I find it crazy that I have to pay $300 a year for someone who might open the program three times a year just to view data, maybe edit occasionally, or comment. They have to have a license.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Smartsheet to track project progress mainly and kind of as a CRM.
Effective Project Management with Smartsheet, Needs Better Comment Formatting
What do you like best about the product?
I like the ability to update the progress of the project timeline and send emails. Smartsheet's built-in features let us track dates and percentage of progress efficiently. I appreciate how it allows us to create dependencies to alter dates as needed. It's helpful that when adding comments, I can tag people to send notifications, which keeps everyone informed.
What do you dislike about the product?
Formatting is not when sending the comments againt an item. It will be great to have formatting options like word doc to embed link or bold, bullet points, etc within the comments section
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Smartsheet for managing project schedules, tracking open action items, and sending timely notifications. The ability to update progress and create dependencies enhances project implementation. Tagging people in comments also helps with effective communication.
Flexible Forms and Smart Alerts That Replace Paper Processes
What do you like best about the product?
Flexibility and the ability to develop solutions to meet any need. I was able to build a process to gather information using forms to replace paper, and with the added functionality of notifications, any deviations automatically send alerts.
What do you dislike about the product?
It was the fact that collaborators had to pay for a licence, but that recently changed!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Gather data using forms, to replace paper. Reporting on data gather. Workflow new product development
Parametric Forms Make Data Sharing Easy
What do you like best about the product?
It allows users to use parametric forms to share data with other users.
What do you dislike about the product?
I’d prefer the user interface to look a bit more modern and up to date.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I work for a global organisation where multiple stakeholders submit forms for reviewers to review. Without it, we would have drowned in a sea of emails.
Seamless Scheduling with Real-Time Updates, But Needs a Tweak
What do you like best about the product?
I like that Smartsheet allows for allocation and linking in terms of functions and cells, similar to an Excel sheet, but in a live manner where things are continuously updated. It helps different business units work together seamlessly without constant live communication. When something is flagged, it comes directly to me, and I can efficiently allocate tasks to engineers who are notified immediately. This eliminates the need to pick up the phone and call them.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's pretty messy when it comes to splitting out into different parts, and some functions of the cells are not as intuitive as I would like. I think if there is some form of AI input to help understand our needs with regards to what type of information we want to send through and how we want it sent through, instead of a rigid process that's in place, it will help everyone.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartsheet helps me see the big picture in scheduling, understand timeline criticality, and seamlessly connect tasks across teams without constant communication.
Team Collaboration and Row Attachments That Shine

What do you dislike about the product?
Limited data import: we can only upload 20,000 rows in Smartsheet, which is frustrating and makes us feel restricted in how we can use Smartsheet.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Documentation is very easy, presentation to client is very easy because attachment of documents and photos
Easy to Manage and Track Everything in One Place
What do you like best about the product?
easy to manage, or track one thing, and suddenly you’re dealing with columns, automation rules, forms, reports… way more setup than expected.
What do you dislike about the product?
Feels overcomplicated for simple tasks & can get messy as you scale
