Smartsheet for More than Just Schedules
What do you like best about the product?
It's extemely versatile.
We use it for queuing Engineering change requests, schedules, manufacturing and other dashboards, it enables us to pull budgetary info from ERP and include that on reports and dashboards also.

What do you dislike about the product?
It's a little slow to use vs a program loaded on your desktop, particularly when trying to link dates to a parent project from its children.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's providing a single platform to support multiple business needs.

User friendly project manager tool with some limitations
What do you like best about the product?
Smartsheet makes form submission accessible to all. It has allowed me to create sophisticated reports and dashboards to summarize key project metrics. My team has benefited from the visually compelling charting on the dashboard feature.
The automation and formula capabilities are helpful in a number of ways. The Smartsheet help forum is also a wealth of knowledge, where I have found answers to many of my own questions about formula syntax.

What do you dislike about the product?
I dislike some of the limitations in the dashboard widgets. For example, I cannot visually display "summary" data from reports, or display metrics from reports.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartsheet is helping me optimize and streamline our project timeline and deliverables.
Efficient but Pricey project management
What do you like best about the product?
What I like best about Smartsheet is how easy it is to organize and track different projects in one place. It’s super flexible, and I can customize it to fit whatever I’m working on. The collaboration features are great too—it’s easy to share updates and keep everyone on the same page. The Single Sign-On with Microsoft is really convenient and saves time logging in. As an IT admin, I also appreciate how easy it is to integrate with other tools we use, making it simple to manage from my end.
What do you dislike about the product?
What I dislike about Smartsheet is that it can sometimes feel a bit slow, especially with larger projects or when there are a lot of people collaborating at once. Another downside is the cost; it can get pricey, especially if you need more advanced features.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As an administrator, Smartsheet solves the challenge of managing multiple teams and projects efficiently. The ease of integration with other tools, like Microsoft 365, makes it simple to implement across our organization. Managing user permissions, setting up workflows, and ensuring security is all straightforward. At the same time, as a user, it helps me stay organized and on top of tasks. The automation features and notifications are a big help in keeping everything on track, and it benefits both my admin role and my day-to-day work.

Inability to set sheet-wide conditional formatting (need to do one column at a time)
Slowness on sheet level when there's lots of lines (i.e. over 5k)
Lack of pivot tables & other functions to allow for data consolidation, viewing, and analysis
Difficulty with moving rows (i.e. needing to set up different sheet with the same columns, etc. - when seeing up "move row" automation, would like the ability to automatically "create new sheet using existing sheet's layout")

Logging our activity for tracking and visibility purposes - quotes being created, renewals coming up, orders booked & pending completion
Automations - alerting certain individuals when a solution is quoted for a certain architecture or geography that they cover, when something is invoicing, when something is due for renewal

Effective Project Management Tool to Streamline Business Processes
What do you like best about the product?
What I like best about Smartsheet is its versatility and efficiency in project management. It excels at managing timelines and sending out reminders to keep the team on track, ensuring that deadlines are met and everyone stays aligned. Additionally, it streamlines approval processes by controlling access to information, allowing only authorized individuals to view or edit specific details. Smartsheet also excels at maintaining confidentiality by securely locking down sensitive information. Finally, its customizable nature allows you to build and tailor processes and tracking systems to fit your exact needs, providing a highly personalized and effective project management solution.
What do you dislike about the product?
One aspect I find challenging about Smartsheet is the complexity involved in building out processes or projects while ensuring all details are included. It can be quite cumbersome, especially for those who may not be experts in the tool. While having an experienced user on the team can significantly ease this burden, in my experience, not many users are familiar with the intricacies of building and managing these processes effectively. This can sometimes lead to a steeper learning curve and a slower implementation process.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Primarily cross functional project management. The project timelines and to dos are very visible to all involved, which helps set expectations and ensures everyone hits deadlines.
Smartsheets for Creative Graphic Production
What do you like best about the product?
Smartsheets has been a great tool for managing ongoing creative asset production requests between my team and my clients. The sheets can be shared and edited across different organizations, and is a one-stop shop for all review, communication, and creative briefing for my projects.
What do you dislike about the product?
One of the biggest flaws is the lag and glitches that occur when a sheet is filled with several proofs and line items. For larger projects, it is easier to keep all information in one central sheet - however, we often need to split our project into separate sheets to avoid the lag that occurs when over 100+ proofs are on a sheet.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Not all my clients work with smartsheets. For those on different platforms, we're often jumping from different tools and platforms for each phase of the project (brief, handoff, file sharing, review, etc). Smartsheets has been a great tool for centralizing our project information and workflow.

What do you like best about the product?
The ease of access. I know excel well and I feel that the formulas and formatting translate well.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't like the many marketing messages. I also don't like that on some sheets I need to save beofre exiting and others I do not, but that may just be a formatting thing.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The Smartsheet allows me to organize student data across several different units and clinics on a specific day and time. In turn, it gives clinical partner control to say which units are open and for which weeks. It gives all of our stakeholders access to the same data to avoid any duplication of efforts.
Good standard tool and helpful collaboration
What do you like best about the product?
Its a good standard PM framework tool. The collaboration is very helpful and the linking is useful as well.
What do you dislike about the product?
Its not very customizable, there are limitations to what you can do and its difficult to use for dev project management.

detailed tracking and accountability of who is responsible and accountable on tasks.
Good tool for specific use cases
What do you like best about the product?
The ability to quickly build and share timelines in a grid and gannt view. I also like the universal way it is set-up based on Project Management methodologies.
What do you dislike about the product?
Smartsheet is a difficult when wanting to share timelines in views other than Grid and Gannt. The calendar view is something clients always request but very very difficult to build and show in Smartsheet. I typically have to export and then bring into Adobe and change manually as you cannot adjust views, days of week or customize how data is shown.
Resourcing is also a weak point for Smartsheet. In 19 years of working as a PM in advertising almost every company uses Smartsheet purely for timelines and uses a seperate tool (currently I use Airtable) for resourcing.

Smartsheet solves, for me, a universal way of communicating timelines and tasks. Clients can view project plans and review milestones easily.
Works well for condensing gathered information
What do you like best about the product?
I like that I can see my entire school district one one spreadsheet, yet each school only gets their own individualized data reports.
What do you dislike about the product?
Its not always intuitive and I find myself having to click around a lot to figure out how to adapt the program to meet my needs in the most efficient way.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
When we used other programs, each school had their own data spreadsheet. With Smartsheet, it is all on one spreadsheet for me and on individuals ones for each school.
