Great for Automations!!
What do you like best about the product?
The automations in Smartsheet are great. We use it across many platforms so that different teams can receive notifications when items require their attention.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are some limitations with regard to what excel can do, but it is a different software and offers other services that excel can't offer.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Smartsheet over different departments. For one department they can track cases that are received leaving a great audit trail as to what has occurred. It also enables them to notify each other when certain points are reached in the case. In addition, when these milestones are reached the details are then added to another sheet to be able to tracked.

I like that everything is visible and easy to follow up.
From tasks to projects. You can easily understand the complexity of anything that comes from the customers and than differentiae. And easily communicate with the team members. And track time.

It can be slow sometimes, I have also noticed sometimes that the comments do not get saved.

What do you like best about the product?
What I like best about Smartsheet is how easily I can adapt it to different types of projects — whether it’s a simple content calendar or a complex multi-team rollout, it gives me just enough structure without feeling too rigid. It also makes team collaboration much smoother, especially when I need everyone to stay aligned without constantly chasing updates via email or chat.
What do you dislike about the product?
While I really appreciate Smartsheet’s flexibility, I do find that reporting can be a bit limited when I need deeper insights. Some features, like time tracking or more advanced dashboards, require third-party tools, which adds extra steps and costs. Also, not all team members find the interface intuitive right away, so onboarding can take some time.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartsheet helps me centralize all project-related information in one place, which is a big win in terms of visibility and coordination. It solves the problem of scattered communication and disconnected tools by allowing the whole team to collaborate in real time. As a result, we're able to work more efficiently, reduce manual follow-ups, and keep stakeholders in the loop with minimal effort.
Smartsheet is a very good tool to create very fast visual management and project management tools.

Time between idea and finished product is quite small. The tool is easy to learn.

Some things are not possible to do and require work-arounds, some things are not possible at all.

Smartsheet is better than excel at visualizing data, without being much more complex.

It's very similar to using office, as long as you are familiar with office tools

If a I transfer a spread sheet from Excel the formulas don;t get transfered correctly

What do you like best about the product?
Smartsheet is incredibly helpful because it combines the familiarity of a spreadsheet with the power of a project management tool. It’s easy to use, even for new team members, and doesn’t require a steep learning curve. Implementation was quick and straightforward, and we were able to integrate it into our workflow with minimal training.
One of the biggest upsides is the range of features available—from automated workflows and real-time collaboration to dashboards and Gantt charts. These features help streamline communication and keep projects on track. We use Smartsheet daily for everything from task tracking to resource planning. Its flexibility and scalability make it a valuable tool across multiple teams.

Also, while it’s easy to get started, fully leveraging advanced features like formulas, automation, and integrations can require more time and technical knowledge than expected.
Another limitation is that some features—such as more advanced reporting, automation limits, or premium connectors—are only available at higher subscription tiers, which can be restrictive for smaller teams. Additionally, real-time collaboration can be slower when multiple users are editing large sheets simultaneously.

Given the nature of our business, where we offer around 30 core products that can be uniquely customized for each client, we found that most off-the-shelf PPC (Production Planning and Control) software solutions did not meet our specific operational needs.
That’s when I discovered Smartsheet. Over the past two years, I’ve built and implemented a tailored workflow within Smartsheet that aligns perfectly with our production processes. It has proven to be an invaluable tool, significantly improving our internal coordination, tracking, and efficiency.
While the learning curve may be slightly steeper initially, once you grasp the foundational concepts, Smartsheet becomes a powerful and flexible platform capable of adapting to a wide variety of workflows.
Given our positive experience on the production side, we are now planning to extend the use of Smartsheet to our sales operations as well.

Smartsheet, a great tool for safety, compliance and automating workflows
What do you like best about the product?
Smartsheet has become a core business resource that we use for safety and compliance across our construction projects. We have been an early adopter and part of the iterations over the year.
Initially I would describe it as Excel on steroids, but over time we have evolved to use it for many parts of our day to day business. From prestart checklists to inspection forms, Smartsheet allows us to create live registers, display dashboards and automated workflows that adapt to our changing operational needs.
The end result (after the initial setup) is a massive reduction for admin related tasks.
Other components that arn't really thought are things like version control, attachments, automated reminders, and even conditional logic. These features provide easy compliance against audit criteria (such as ISO Audits) while improving productivity.

While Smartsheet is versatile, there are still occasional limitations vs Excel — particularly when it comes to advanced formulas. Some functions just don’t exist or behave differently, and the formula syntax isn’t always intuitive.
That said, with the rise of AI tools over the past couple of years, it’s become much easier to work around those gaps by generating or correcting formulas on the fly.

We’ve used it to digitise prestarts, inspections, audits, document registers, asset registers, display dashboards and build reports which provide tailored information specific to those who need to see it.
The biggest benefit has been reducing admin time and human error while increasing the consistency of data capture in the field, for example from our daily field reports.
Overall, it’s enabled us to shift our focus from reactive compliance to proactive risk management In a real time collaborative manner.
