What do you like best about the product?
Jellyfish provides me invaluable insight into the productivity and quality of my team's delivery. I can view GitHub commit patterns, predict when I'll deliver important features, and see how my team performs in accordance with DORA (DevOps) metrics. The Jellyfish team is responsive and continually iterating on their product.
What do you dislike about the product?
I would like to see continued investment in their DevOps tooling. They have made good progress but still have a few ways to go regarding specific branching strategies.

Jellyfish provides me with insights into the development trends of my engineering team. I am able to spot performance gaps and leading indicators that I have not been able to see in the past.

One area where users have expressed a desire for improvement is the flexibility and customization options for certain newly created features, particularly in regard to life cycle management.

Easily digestible engineering metrics useful across the entire organization

  • June 09, 2023

What do you like best about the product?
Jellyfish creates quality interactive visualizations of engineering performance data that would typically take days to pull together by hand. If anything looks wonky, you can click into the chart and find the source of the discrepancy easily. They consistently update their product, adding new planning features and allowing the user to set sutom views. Our engineering and product teams utilize JF to track delivery - very helpful.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only downsides I see are that some quality of life features aren't in the platform yet, and there is limited customization. However, this is due to it being a relatively young product. Every suggestion I've had has been taken by our CSM and we hear updates all the time. They also have a user forum for feedback.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Jellyfish allocate our engineering costs to tangible business objectives. We are now able to estimate a project's true cost to a higher degree of accuracy than our previous method.
We also use Jellyfish to track program sdelivery. Teams have been able to pull relavant metrics and improve their on-time delivery rate.

Opens your eyes up to new ways of thinking

  • June 09, 2023

What do you like best about the product?
My favourite feature is "Interactions and Activity". I've never thought which developers are reviewing whose PRs before, but this feature makes it super easy to visualize direction and amount of interactions in Git PRs.
What do you dislike about the product?
I'm very conscious that people could use Jellyfish metrics the wrong way, such as tying a specific metric to somebody's performance review. Maybe Jellyfish could highlight risk in its UI? Sort of an in-UI education thing?
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I haven't figured this out yet. I've spent maybe 5-10 hours on Jellyfish. I'm still learning the tool and how it can benefit me.

Powerful Insights to Guide Decision Making

  • June 06, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I have been using Jellyfish now for several years. It opens up a plethora of insights that had historically been difficult to compile. This information unlocks much more powerful decision making capabilities. My teams use it to retrospect and make continuous improvements. The deliverables views also deliver as close to ground truth as possible on the status of your company initiatives. All around great product.
What do you dislike about the product?
Any time I have an issue or feature request the Jellyfish team is very responsive. They are continuously delivering new and powerful features. Most recently my teams have benefitted from the new Life Cycle feature. It provides great, actionable detail into the software development lifecycle.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Jellyfish to confirm our actual work allocation is in line with company objectives, our teams use the team-based metrics for retrospectives and reviews, and we use the deliverables views for ground truth on the status of our key company initiatives.

Very useful for monitoring daily work

  • June 02, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I find Jellyfish very useful when it comes to tracking all the work, it's amazing all the details it shows about what you have in Jira. In my case I use it a lot to see week by week what we have worked on, category, ticket work cycles, number of revisions, pages created in confluence. In short, it is a very necessary tool that makes it easier to control and manage your work.

Update: After more than one year since my last review I can confirm that Jellyfish continues helping me to track all the tasks managed by my team. The section I consult the most is the Team & Unit Dashboard to measure the efforts per week in detail.

Update 2:I still think it's a great tool for tracking the tasks my team performs and seeing where there is room for improvement.
What do you dislike about the product?
So far nothing serious, I don't think I have explored all the potential that Jellyfish have. Almost every time I have had a question or wanted to consult some data, a colleague or the person who manages it has helped me.

Update: I still think the same as I said more than a year ago, I still have a lot to discover about Jellyfish, but I have no complaints about what I use on a daily basis.

Update 2: Maybe I need more information about all the characteristics of the jellyfish for the moment I didn't find anything I don't like in the use I give to it
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Above all, it helps me to keep track of which business categories we are working on.

An amazing tool to drive alignment and continuous improvement

  • June 01, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I have used jellyfish for more than a year and a half. Over time, the platform has consistently exceeded expectations, providing valuable insights, fostering autonomy, and ensuring alignment with business goals. It has become an indispensable tool for driving high performance in engineering teams.

Jellyfish's operational metrics feature is a game-changer, enabling data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement. It empowers teams to back discussions with factual data, driving positive change and constant improvement.

Jellyfish excels at aligning engineering efforts with business priorities. Communicating key metrics to stakeholders ensures a focused approach that contributes to product strategy and company direction.

Jellyfish's user-friendly interface and customizable reporting enhance effective communication. It's a pleasure to navigate, providing access to the information we need.

In summary, Jellyfish is a transformative tool for engineering teams. With evolving features, it continuously adds value, offering insights, autonomy, and alignment. As a long-term user, I wholeheartedly recommend Jellyfish for organizations seeking to excel and evolve their engineering teams.
What do you dislike about the product?
While Jellyfish constantly evolve to add more value, one area could use improvement. Occasionally, the graph's color palette changes between versions without any apparent reason. This inconsistency can be a bit confusing and disrupt the user experience. It would be beneficial if the color scheme remained consistent to provide a more cohesive and familiar interface.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
- Jellyfish's operational metrics feature provides valuable insights into team performance, addressing the problem of making decisions based sentiments
- it empowers engineering teams by providing tools for tracking and analyzing metrics, allowing them to take ownership of their work and make more autonomous decisions.
- Jellyfish also helps on the alignment side. it makes the engineering efforts visible, and we can see if they align with the business goals.

Excellent reporting, project, delivery, metric and CAPACITY PLANNING tool!!

  • June 01, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
This is a must have for Scrum Masters, Engineering Managers, Project/Program Managers and software Finance.

As a Scrum Master, I used, on a daily basis, sprint reporting, deliverables & metrics pages in JellyFish.

And at a project/program level, the new Capacity Planner (currently in Alpha roll-out) is a major game-changer!

For Finance, it is a great solution for Software Capitalization and also spend-tracking per project based on FTEs and the great tracking algorithms that touch not only on Jira but also Git - as well as other software.
What do you dislike about the product?
I dislike how the Deliver pages are split between Deliverables In-Progress and Completed Deliverables. It requires that I have to do 2 pulls of data and combine them into 1 spreadsheet when doing calculations that span a timeframe. I feel like that should be an optional setting so I can grab everything I need in 1 pull.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It helps to visualize where the epic deliverables are. It helps a lot with visualizing metrics and allocations. It is integral with tracking software capitalization and monitoring spend against contracts using FTE numbers on each epic.

The new capacity planner is so easy to use and will be a game-change for project/program level management and even Engineering Managers for quarterly/yearly planning.
