Lightweight but has everything to show where and how your spend your time and budget on R&D!

  • September 07, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Lightweight, very easy to configure, and start to see the data and all the metrics. Excellent communication from the very first day and so on! Documentation is good enough.
What do you dislike about the product?
There's no "out-of-the-box" ability to see metrics based on the Sprint cadence instead of month and quarters
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Jellyfish shows the actual data in real-time on the top level and allow us to dig deeper, with one dashboard instead a lot of reports. Great that JellyFish has the ability to get data from different sources and combine it in a perfect way. It has a lot of useful metrics that allow management to set goals across org and for specific teams and it's easy to track the progress!

JellyFish Metrics

  • August 17, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
JellyFish provides detailed and actionable insights. The JellyFish metrics are at both detailed and summary levels which is great for a variety of stakeholders. The JellyFish staff are friendly, helpful and always quick to respond to questions.
What do you dislike about the product?
The ability to add more customized views and filters on some insights would make it easier from a user perspective.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The key value areas that JellyFish provides are a clear understanding of where engineering effort is being spent and how this aligns with our targets or goals.

Much, much easier than trying to do it yourself

  • August 15, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Before we began using Jellyfish, we tried to produce the same data in-house and it didn't work out. It was a lot of work, it was prone to error, and it didn't look half as good as Jellyfish does. Jellyfish has put all of this data and more, at our fingertips. The hard part now is figuring out how to use the data. Almost as good as the product itself have been the folks at Jellyfish. They have worked with us hand in hand since day one. Any questions, any requests, they have been very responsive and helpful. Now that I've been using Jellyfish for about 9 months, I can't imagine working without it at this point.
What do you dislike about the product?
Jellyfish is still a rapid-growth startup, so they are focused on delivering customer value quickly. Being a customer, I can appreciate that. The downside is that some of the more mundane, less interesting bits of the application are lacking or missing altogether. You have to work through your rep to do most user management or tweak any application settings. Since this isn't a day-to-day activitiy for me, it's not a big deal.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Jellyfish helps us:
1. Understand our we've invested our people
2. How are teams are performing
3. The true state of work in progress (vs the more basic view JIRA provides)

Great tool for Engineering Management

  • August 12, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
We are still implementing Jellyfish, but so far it has given us really good visibility into engineering team cost allocations as well as performance. We are very excited to expand the usage of Jellyfish to get the most out of it.
The team at Jellyfish has also been great to work with. They are knowledgeable and very responsive to requests and questions. It has been a pleasure to work with them.
What do you dislike about the product?
To get the most out of Jellyfish implementation, we needed to do a good amount of Jira project clean-up. While this took some effort, our Jira instance has improved hygiene because of it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As we implement Jellyfish, it gives Engineering management improved visibility into metrics and also reduces manual work that traditionally was done in Excel sheets.

Useful Metrics Tool That Accommodates a Complex Team Structure

  • August 11, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The "Hierarchy" feature in Jellyfish allowed us to configure our Teams and all other levels of the organization in a way that worked best for us, utilizing some unique JIRA setup and methods. Because we were able to do this initial breakout, we can present metrics to management in all the various ways they require despite some nuances we had to work around.

We were also able to streamline several spreadsheets into one, which feeds into Jellyfish for our organization, and saves us time on manual data entry and manipulation.

While setting up Jellyfish or fielding questions, we can always easily click through to the raw data in JIRA or GitHub to take a closer look, which is essential for troubleshooting.
What do you dislike about the product?
A custom report/charts feature would be nice; or, having a little more flexibility to customize some of the existing charts would help. Jellyfish also has some explicit ways of considering work complete based on JIRA that we were able to mostly adapt to, but things may not be that flexible for other companies.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is saving several hours of work for a handful of managers on our team each month, which in turn saves me time.

It also exposes some key metrics to management so we can identify where and how to improve the Scrum Teams, all in one place.

Data that you cant get from anywhere else

  • August 10, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The easiness of use. JF integrates with the enitre workflow with great inputs and visualization.
You get data and information about your teams that you just cant get from a different tool.
The customer support and our point of contact (Lane Cronin) is just amazing with an answer to every question that we have
either in a zoom conversation or slack message.
What do you dislike about the product?
Requires adjustments that only JF can do, not real time integration with Jira.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It lets me understand where the teams invest their time, provides KPIs and measurements and is just a great tool to overview the engineering process and allows better planning.

The software provides robust data and I have received "white glove" attention during not only the introduction and overview but also ongoing weekly support sessions from Jevin.
What do you dislike about the product?
I haven't identified anything that I dislike.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Currently, we haven't identified any problems that need to be resolved.

Amazing tool to help demystify your engineering operations

  • August 08, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
How well it integrates into our entire workflow. It's amazing how much information we can glean from Jellyfish, everything from high-level metrics, to cost cap.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some of the DevOps metrics are still a bit unrefined. UX and nav can be tricky and wish we could get some of the views from the top level down to the team view.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It reports on everything from where our engineering resources are being spent, cost capitalization, engineering efficiency and effectiveness and overall operational health.

Highly Recommend Jellyfish to get Key Engineering Insights

  • August 08, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Jellyfish provides a lot of data that we don't/can't get from Jira. It offers a lot of great visuals, with drill downs to get to very specific details. It provides every level of data we need, from highly-aggregated info about our whole engineering department, to info on a specific team's performance, to info on specific sprints/tickets. Our point of contact (Lane) is AWESOME - she's super knowledgable and helps us with everything we need.
What do you dislike about the product?
Jellyfish is very configurable, but a lot of it must be done by Jellyfish. It's not a big problem because Jellyfish is very responsive, but it would be nice so we don't have to bother our point of contact. The user management is a bit cumbersome and slow.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We get detailed performance metrics on our development teams so we can coach them to improve. It ties together data from several systems to give us one holistic picture. We get a consistent set of metrics across all teams, regardless of tech stack. It gives us valuable aggregations that are not possible in Jira (rollups based on custom fields, investment allocations, etc). All of the data/metrics have drill-down options so we can get to the tickets involved and cleanup/organize as necessary.

Still new to this tool. Learning all the cool stuff it has to offer and it looks promising!

  • May 18, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Being able to track where the teams are focused and how we are spending engineering time. Gives insights into teams and individual metrics.
What do you dislike about the product?
There seems to be some learning curve and requires a lot of setup and clean-up before getting some value out of this tool.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Need to understand if the teams are working on the right things. Also, help with one of the big pain points for the teams - Time tracking.
