Great tool from managing your teams

  • October 31, 2024
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The tool has a very intuitive interface.
It allows you to stay up-to-date with the work of individual team members as well as their performance. In a simple way, it allows you to view the statistics of the entire team, check the metrics of the delivered work, and also the structure and type of work performed by the team in different periods.

Thanks to easy integration with Jira, you can easily navigate to the elements of the team’s work that caught your attention, going beyond the accepted metrics, and quickly move to individual tasks that impact your area of interest.

With specific metrics and groups, you can easily check the progress of set goals both in the short and long term and respond appropriately to anomalies affecting the performance of entire teams, projects, and individual people.

A very useful tool from the perspective of a Team Leader and Manager
What do you dislike about the product?
The only remark is that at the beginning, some attention had to be paid to the proper configuration of the tool - especially asignee people and groups.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Essentially, it saves the time needed to gather statistics and correlations between tasks performed by team members or several teams for purposes related to maintaining appropriate metrics at the project level. Additionally, it is easy to detect anomalies in the performance of individual teams and respond appropriately in advance.

Extremely valuable insights and time savings

What do you like best about the product?
Jellyfish does a great job of focussing on what is actually important. The data rollups from individuals to teams to the org are all consistently presented but also specific to each level where different information is desirable.

We integrate with Jira and I do a great deal of querying and exporting to crunch numbers and look at details objectively and in the raw format. Jellyfish hits the nail on the head for the types of inquiries I'm pursing but makes it all so much easier to get to. The types of trends I'm interested in are nearly all presented out of the box and it's beautiful. But additionally Jellyfish adds additional context from Github, Confluence, and other tools which really drives home a stronger narrative than I can provide via just my own investigation.

Part of what allows us to see the info we care about are the configurations, which honestly aren't super robust but once we understood how to use them we've been able to cut our data as desired. It's a good balance of flexibility to customize and protecting the integrity of the tool, so no real complaints as it's great out of the box.

Lastly, the customer support has been exceptional. Our reps and the support staff addressing our questions or issues are very quick to respond and extremely friendly and helpful. Everyone I've dealt with at JF has seemed genuinely interested in helping and being a great partner. Wonderful staff.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only feature request on my mind would be some kind of export that could present what I'm seeing onscreen in a deck or PDF. Different browsers save as PDF a little differently but most have issues with scrollbars and certain bits on the screen may have a Save As or option to Copy & Paste but the entire view together with the complete narrative does not. We have some execs that don't want to jump in and interact team by team to see details...sending them a PDF they can page through would be really useful in getting that info in front of them, but also as a way to snapshot and provide a mechanism to contrast and compare in the future.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Better insights into engineering performance, primarily trends like: is velocity improving, it feels like a certain IC is dragging their feet...are they, this team says they're too busy...are they focussed on the right type of work, etc.. We mostly use JF to analyze trends across the org, but also to research teams and behaviors we feel are present (gut feel) but we need data to back up those assumptions. JF helps connect lots of narrative dots.

Visibility like never before!

  • August 27, 2024
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The visibility you get on where your team's effort goes, the ability to work closely with Jira to maximise classification of effort, understanding conflicting priorities, focus from engineers and even a planner that considers velocity, team focus and work remaining that helps driving conversations.

Also, visibility on team processes. Easier than ever to see how certain actions on workflow, agreements and team processes can have on your team impact.

Values you get on Jellyfish are not a goal on its own, but a fantastic conversation starter and way to monitor progress.

The visibility I have over my teams now thanks to Jellyfish is like never before.
What do you dislike about the product?
There's nothing I dislike on its own, I'd love to have the ability to set up alerts based on specific deadlines or metrics.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The big questions that sometimes seems easy to answer but is not:

- Where's my team's time going?
- How much BAU/KTLO work we actually have?
- How many priorities the same engineer can have?
- What's the speed and capacity needed for specific projects?

What do you like best about the product?
Jellyfish is easy to use. It is easy to setup and integrate with Jira. I can see which tasks take a long time
What do you dislike about the product?
There is a chance that a managment may start using lines of code and things liekthat as metrics to judge engineering performance / productivity
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
seeing how much ad hoc / unplanned work there is.
