Best free design software out there
What do you like best about the product?
Canva has changed the way I do work! I am a self-taught graphic designer and my clients need things like social media graphics, website banners, email headers, and infographics. Canva has hundreds, probably thousands, of templates that you can straight-up "steal" or customize to make it your own. It makes designing so much easier and quicker!
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish you could upload fonts with the free account but other than that, there is nothing bad to say about this program.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I want to make modern, eye-catching graphics for my clients (business coaches, entrepreneurs, therapists, stylists, bloggers, etc.) quickly and easily. Canva allows me to do this. I have also learned a lot about font pairing, color pairing, how to utilize shapes to make certain elements stand out, etc. They have a "school" with free tips and strategies so literally ANYONE can design using any of their templates or one you make up on your own! There is a lot of inspiration within Canva and within the Canva-using community.

Canva
What do you like best about the product?
Easy to edit and create graphics to be used by a business without needing a graphic designer on staff for smaller simple projects.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes is slow and difficult to move things around.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The time it takes to create these graphics is lengthened because canva seems to run slow.
I absolutely love it! Saves me a ton of time.
What do you like best about the product?
I am not a designer, I'm just a marketer, and I am able to easily make images. It is intuitive, they also have a lot of tutorials that are super helpful for a non-artist, and they also provide a lot of ideas within the tool for inspiration. These ideas are templates you can pay for and are already made, but if you don't want to pay you can borrow the ideas to make your own design. Also, images are very inexpensive and different than common stock photos. A lot more realistic.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only thing I can think of - I wish I could have a bit more flexibility editing images. If i wanted to make a particular object in the image stand out and blur the background I can't. It is all or nothing. Oh and I wish it didn't open as many tabs when I'm working with it. But these are all minor things, not deal breakers.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It takes a long time for Creative to give me images for social media, and because for us social is not our greatest focus it is not even worth taking their time. I can make the images myself in a few minutes (or hours because I'm not a designer/artist) post, and move on. I get the image the same day and I don't have to plan well in advance.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you are struggling to get images, CTAs, and other things that are fairly simple to make but take you forever to get from someone else, do use Canva. It is very easy to use. They offer a trial so worst case you cancel before you start paying.
Watch out photoshop here...Canva makes beautiful design as easy as drag & drop
What do you like best about the product?
Great design and photoshop used to seem daunting to me. That was until I discovered Canva. Now making professional designs is easier than ever at a fraction of the cost. Canva is faster and more efficient than using freelance designers or standalone in-house designers for sporadic projects. Highly recommend for beginner through marketing professional.
What do you dislike about the product?
Canva is missing key features including a desktop app and basic guidelines like rulers. The included stock photo libraries are pretty limited at least for free elements but additional choices are available on an ala carte basis.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Canva makes marketing, branding, and day-to-day design easier. I no longer need to work with external designers for developing menus or strategic presentations.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Build out more features like rulers and multi-page elements.
User-friendly, fun product
What do you like best about the product?
Canva is very easy to use - I appreciate that they have templates you can pull from but also the flexibility to customize and create your own designs.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes it was challenging to make the uploaded images show up in quite the way I wanted to, but I managed to work around that and figured out options that turned out to be best for what I wanted to achieve.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
At the moment we're using Canva for graphics to promote events covering everything from juvenile justice to criminal justice to fair financial services - it's a nice range of issues.
Lacks sharp image quality
What do you like best about the product?
simple tool to use, it has an easy to use interface.
What do you dislike about the product?
lacks sharp image quality, I created a logo using canva fonts, I downloaded at the highest quality, when I uploaded to the site it was blurry.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
not really any benefit so far.
Mixed feelings...beautiful UI and features but hard to handle
What do you like best about the product?
Canva's UI caught my eye, and the following features encouraged me to stay:
-It's free! Unlike other free versions, Canva's free version allows users to access all their templates, and within those templates you also have tons of free resources at your disposal - aesthetically pleasing fonts, icons, frames, free animations, various layouts, etc.
-You don't have to be a graphic designer to make the most use out of this tool. Canva makes designing almost effortless. For example, what would have taken me days to a week to create an infographic using a program like Illustrator/Photoshop now only takes me a day or two, because they have ready built templates that you can then tweak to your liking. Change out graphics, remove or add text, the world is your oyster when it comes to customizing your design
-All the elements, from text to template, follow a sleek, chic and minimalistic approach. The look&feel of Canva is overall trendy and modernistic

What do you dislike about the product?
Canva should enhance their UXE - it can be frustrating when I make edits, click outside of the graphic to save the change, and it automatically routes me to the left of the page. Also, they should have layers that you can easily edit as they do with Photoshop. Every time you try to make a change and the elements are super close together, it takes forever to try to move the element you want. Urgh!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Canva helps me pump out gorgeous graphics in a jiffy. It is just a beast to edit.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
UX is still in the rough, premature stages.. I would recommend adding a view bar where you can easily edit each element!
Great for bloggers, not so great for Graphic Designers
What do you like best about the product?
Canva offers so many options for backgrounds, shapes, fonts, sizes for final artwork and color that its hard to make anything look less than great. It easy to use and it's simplicity cannot be beat. Even the photos that are available are great and there are many to choose from. The ones that aren't free are very inexpensive and better than similarly priced royalty free photo "competition".
What do you dislike about the product?
Sharing your file with others isn't as easy as it should be. Downloading your artwork into a useable file such as jpg or png should be a lot more user friendly. I have a lot of co-workers that have issues sending me their final artwork because the interface is a tad confusing once you get to the point of saving and using the artwork.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As a graphic designer I do not use Canva for my own designs but I do have interns use it to help me build memes and teach students how to use it for intro to the design world. It gives me a pretty good idea of who has a good idea for design and who doesn't. By removing the technical know-how one needs to start with a blank canvas in Photoshop or Illustrator, Canva allows you to simply get the job done without drag and drop, type and place functionality. It won't make you a good designer, but allows good designers to design beautiful things without having to know more difficult software.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you have a website or blog, have any eye for beautiful design and can't afford a graphic artist to create facebook posts, pins for Pinterest, memes for your blog posts, Canva is hands down the way to go.
Roughtdraft Designs
What do you like best about the product?
This is a great tool to use to get inspiration from the templates and tweak it to fit your own promotions.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish it had more preset templates such as facebook ads!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Coming up with new ideas for email designs, facebook ads, and rough drafts to send to the graphic designers to implement.
Simple and effective design
What do you like best about the product?
The drag and drop interface is great, and the auto-sized boxes for Facebook Ads, Cover Photos, Twitter, etc.
What do you dislike about the product?
Canva for Business is nice but not ideal for an agency like mine. I wish they'd open it up to allow custom brand colors for multiple accounts
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Quick and easy formatting with attractive designs for Facebook Cover Photos, Ads, and Posts.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Allow custom brand colors for multiple accounts instead of just the primary account. The folders are a great start.
