It’s the OS-neutral directory you want to use to manage your endpoints
What do you like best about the product?
It’s cross platform - Mac, Linux, and Windows. With JumpCloud becoming an Apple MDM, it’s only getting better.
What do you dislike about the product?
Certain features are lacking while they focus on product. Reporting and logging are only just catching up to minimally required functionality. Wider support from SIEMs and other security platform integrations is also lacking.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Not having to run AD. We’re a 100% cloud company. We do not run on on-prem of any variety. Easy to deploy, cloud-native directory services for endpoint management was essential 5+ years ago and JC was and is the only cross-platform, 100% cloud product that focuses on being an endpoint specific directory. It’s a one stop shop for easy directory and endpoint management.
Yeah, you can cobble together something with Azure AD and LDAP and RADIUS, etc, but JumpCloud handles it all.
Apple in particular is hard to wrangle in this respect, with their disparate tooling and now MDM requirements for most basic management. JumpCloud became an Apple MDM and is rolling out more and more features to that end. It’s a huge help, allowing us to eliminate Meraki as an MDM (albeit at the loss of their SCEP wifi auth). JumpCloud is slow to roll out such features as they have so many competing feature priorities, but they’re also good about listening to customer feedback and now run an admin Slack.

Great product. A lot of potential
What do you like best about the product?
JumpCloud allows the pushing of computer policies. This allows IT Admins to control managed devices and make them compliant for business continuity.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are some downsides to it but not enough to outweigh the pros. But the product is growing and in a good direction.
This may be a cross-platform solution but it seems they are catering more towards Apple products. If you consider yourself to be “cross-platform” I think there should be an equal balance between al platforms of Mac, Windows and Linux

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Problems being solved would be automation for IT Admins and controllability for the Company to manage users and devices.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I recommend you evaluate your Company needs upon attaining JumpCloud to make sure to setup goes smoothly.
Empowers Business Growth
What do you like best about the product?
Security, automation, scaling for an ever extending office of workers and managed devices.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some of the issues that have prevented me from taking this solution to stakeholders have historically been UI, lack of documentation, and even more granular pricing for SMB-size companies. All three categories have been vastly and importantly improved.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
This helps solve 'no-touch' type device management for our MacOS and Windows is devices and brings MDM into one lane of glass.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
The ability to test and playground this product endlessly up to 10 users is so important and not constrained by an often enforced 30-day trial period.
Their documentation and academy webpages are very helpful.

The Chance to Change
What do you like best about the product?
The system is very easy to handle and has a very large documentation. Including windows and Linux agents for password management, package management and monitoring.
What do you dislike about the product?
It not full a Microsoft Active Domain Controller replacement which is very interesting for smaller business and private usage cases.
I would be cool to have a service which can run on windows or Linux to provide a local domain controller as a replacement.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Centralized user account and permission management. Deploying software and scripts to machine groups and monitoring.
Great user interface, really easy to get setup
What do you like best about the product?
The User Interface for creating policies, managing devices, etc was really great. I was able to get devices registered really easily - probably less than 15 minutes using the Apple MDM configurations. Out of all of the UEM providers we looked at the process with JumpCloud was by far the best.
I also liked that you could buy directly from JumpCloud. With some of the providers we looked at like MobileIron you need to go through a 3rd party reseller.

What do you dislike about the product?
It's not possible to use Mobile Device Management on iPhones / iPad / Android devices. That was a bit of a downside for us - we have users who are using phones / android phones and ipads that need to be monitored. We would love to see this feature introduced - support did tell me it's on the way so fingers crossed.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Mobile Device Management - as part of our security policies we need to be able to manage devices remotely and see what software is installed. By installing JumpCloud it gave us this visibility that we didn't previously have unless we manually checked each individual users' device which isn't really a practical solution.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
This is a great product but lacks the ability to manage devices such as iPhone / iPad or Android devices. We'd love to see this feature be introduced - I did speak with support and they said that it's on the roadmap.

Recommendations to others considering the product:
Jumpcloud has been a pleasure to work with. Jumpcloud's systems have been running reliably with few issues for the entire time we've been using them. They have even won over our users, which is something you rarely see in the fast-paced, internet-marketing development community. They are the only solution that provides all the features we need, and their support has been excellent.
Compared some of the other, large IAS providers we depend on, they are friendly and easy to deal with, and they don't treat us like we are less important for being a smaller company that does spends less on them than other companies.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
A mixed environment with Windows and Mac machines, combined with a Google Workspace all works seamlessly and we do not have to make compromises on what we can deploy.
Why not DAAS?

I like the ease of roll out! Adding it to our existing network was easy. The users have no issues and they never require support.

It's not cheap, but somebody once told me you get what you pay for. We are small so per user it seems expensive until you do the hardware math.
