Excellent combination of open source tools and tough integrations

What do you like best about the product?
Users
- Easy to add and update users and their details
- Users can manage their own details including SSH keys
- Integration to Office365 helps on board and off board staff easily.

Servers
- Very simple to add servers to your fleet
- Good information with the additional module
- Grouping of servers makes access control easy
- Very fast updates to servers (key additions and revocations)

Integrations
- A wide range of apps for the users to be presented with but the LDAP and O365 integrations are most useful to us.
- Extensive and well documented API

Price
- Per user is great for us as we have a lot of servers with few people
What do you dislike about the product?
Users:
- Limited ability for LDAP groups
- Short login duration, seems to be about a day before reauth to SAML-enabled applications

Admin portal
- No audit logs without an additional module
- Some reliance on the API to get access to certain information, but that's improving over time
- Very limited admin permission sets, basically a full admin or a full admin without billing

Irritations
- Need a separate user to get admin access, you can't use the same email address for user and admin access
- Admin and user pages are on separate pages but the same URL
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have realised massive reductions in user admin time and server deployments through user propagation. Previously we used Ansible scripts to deploy public keys, and user authentication was in several places that all needed updating. JumpCloud gives the users a single place that updates all of their credentials. It's great to be able to say "use your JumpCloud credentials" instead of "which password did you set?"

Their support has been very responsive when we've had an issue, and they have escalated quickly when required. We've got an active case regarding O365 integration and the engineers have kept us up to date throughout with regular emails and calls.

Great alternative to self-hosted domain, especially in a mixed environment of Mac and Windows.

What do you like best about the product?
Cross platform management of users and devices. Allows us to centralize identity. We actually have JumpCloud's LDAP connected to our Okta instance, which allows us to leverage the more robust Okta capabilities. It plays nice with G Suite, and to a slightly lesser extent, Office 365. The powershell module is well developed, as are some of the other API's. Easy to create internal apps that leverage JC capablities. Linux support is nice, but we haven't really used it much. We dont install JC on production resources in AWS, though in theory you could. We're continuing to build onboarding scripts that automate what used to be quite the manual process.
What do you dislike about the product?
I dont like that they charge extra for Directory Insights. Seems pretty core to their business. Same goes for System Insights. Would like to see more development of the UI. For example, it would be nice to run commands on machines ad hoc, instead of assigning them to to the command and then running it. Honestly the pricing is pretty steep as well - we'd like to get more of our money's worth at times. Overall its still a great product.

I also dislike that when creating Mac users by assigning them to a system, they don't get Filevault unlock privs, even if they are admin.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Enforcing policy compliance and simplifying IT mgmt. wins! The MDM for Apple is a great recent feature as well. Offboarding users ahs become much more automatic,.

The solution makes sense for mixed environments with PCs and MACs

What do you like best about the product?
Learning curve for our support staff. Easy to adopt and maintain. Also minimal disruption for users. The main problem was having an easy solution to secure and centralise the authentication of our Macs. Implementing 2fa is also a great help.
What do you dislike about the product?
Billing in currencies other than USD would be really helpful in reselling the product. We resell in AUD and the fluctuation in the dollar can hurt us at times.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Ability to maintain 1 directory between all devices. MAC and PC. Secure access to devices which hasn't been possible to centralise in the past.
Easy to adopt and maintain. Also minimal disruption for users. The main problem was having an easy solution to secure and centralise the authentication of our Macs. Implementing 2fa is also a great help.
Recommendations to others considering the product:

What do you like best about the product?
I like how easy and straight forward the user interface is. It also solves many problems that business struggle to find solutions to all in one solution. Radius, Mac and PC, MDM, SSO, Policy enforcement. Ect..
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't like how you cant customize the search fields very much.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It has solved Radius, SSO, and Policy enforcement across all of our Platforms.

JumpCloud for a transitioning business

  • May 28, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I love how easy it is to add an existing computer to your domain. The installer is very small and minimal guidance is needed.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't like how some of the features of a full-fledged Windows AD are missing, but AD and JC are catering to different audiences.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We had minimal system unity across our business and we have realized how hard that unification can be.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you are looking for a lightweight, but powerful AD, then JumpCloud is a good choice.

DaaS is the future

  • February 07, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
- Ease-of-use backed by great UI design
- The number of integrations, it covers the big players (Microsoft, Google, LDAP)
- Friendly, knowledgeable and responsive account manager and support team
- Excellent documentation from an exhaustive knowledge base. One of the most detailed I've come across.
What do you dislike about the product?
There were a few niggling bugs we came across when signing up but they were quickly addressed.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The main problem was having an easy solution to secure and centralise the authentication of our Macs. DaaS makes sense when your staff all have laptops, especially if you want to avoid having to connect to VPNs to sync with Active Directory.

The other big win was enabling MFA on our Macs via the JumpCloud agent, increasing security. I don't know of any other products that can do this.

Centralising our development teams SSH keys is very useful too.

System Administration for Small Businesses

  • February 06, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
We're able to remotely control user accounts and other system services across our fleet of Macbook laptops.
What do you dislike about the product?
No large downside to JumpCloud other than the initial manual installation of the tool on each machine.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We're remotely syncing user accounts, enforcing some system policies (like full disk encryption), and syncing passwords/logins with G Suite.

Jump On It

What do you like best about the product?
I like the dashboard ease of use and the ability to push different policies to both PCs and Macs.
What do you dislike about the product?
The main downside is, the fact the user accounts are still technically local.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Centralized user management, encryption of computers, and sign-on integration with WiFi.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Try it free first. You get up to I believe 10 accounts for free that you can play around with.
