Great alternative to traditional AD

  • April 28, 2021
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I no longer have to setup an AD environment to management a group of Windows machines and a small group of users. The solution is very cost effective.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some advanced funtionality is missing if it is for use with a small enterprise.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Allow user and system management without setting up an AD environment on-prem. This cut down the initial setup time and ongoing maintenance cost.

What do you like best about the product?
Easy to manage and bring in new equipment. I go weeks forgetting we use JumpCloud; things just work!
What do you dislike about the product?
Communicating with employees how the system works when passwords need re-setting and how that needs to be done in JumpCloud for it and other SAML apps to work properly.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We can limit the number of passwords people need and use Google Apps as our home directory and manage Windows and Mac devices.

JumpCloud is the perfect solution for onboarding new customers.

What do you like best about the product?
User/Device Management in the Cloud is a godsend.
What do you dislike about the product?
Microsoft Active Directory is so engrained in business culture that such an industry disrupter is a hard sell. JumpClouds continued and constant improvements have it on a path to get the attention of bigger clients but its really geared toward the smaller companies like the kind DiceCo services. Additionally, a phone app would be helpful for resetting passwords in the field when only one Tech is on-call and up on a tower - Yes, that's happened.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
JumpCloud's totally web-based User/Device management makes managing smaller companies without a Technical staff a breeze. No on-site LDAP? Who needs it! No password control or Radius for wireless and Laptops? Jumpy has it. -That's the pet name around the office. My company manages quite a few restaurant chains (Pre-COVID) and one-off Ma' n' Pa operations as well as larger companies and Jumpy has all the tools to make it easy. We manage multiple sites through their multi-tenant portal and with a very small staff.
We like Jumpy's MSOFFICE and Google Suite integration but those companies make it a pain to maintain with the constant re-authing of the products to JumpCloud. I'd like to see a feature that automates that process somehow.
The AD integration is a super-helpful feature for sites that do have on-prem AD and despite having MS Products, real benefits are realized in cloud management in cost-savings over Azure. As an MSP, our favorite sites to manage are those integrated with JumpCloud due to the ease of use and continually growing suite of features. It's gets new customers under management quickly and effectively so we can start making money right away as we grow out their services. We plan to continue on-baording customers to JumpCloud as part of our total products solutions
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Look at how you (or your client) is using AD. Ideal use cases are companies with more than one office or a number of remote users. As the new rule, there are a LOT of Telecommuters nowadays and JumpClouds ability to track and manage those devices from anywhere can shorten your service-ticket aging by 2-fold. I like the idea of using JumpCloud to replace on-prem AD but the fact that it integrates with existing LDAPs is a real plus. Expect some push-back when introducing it but JumpClouds Sales staff will gladly help you explain and sell the product which is like having another arm of your sales team. They're very knowledgable on all aspects of Infrastructure design and will be honest about how well JumpCloud fits your scenario.

Cross platform and ecosystem management made simple

  • April 28, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It's affordable and easy to use. There's nothing to maintain, and it helps with all sorts of things including management of Windows, macOS, Linux machines, logins and sync to Google Workspace, RADIUS, SSO, and more!
What do you dislike about the product?
Not much to dislike. It does almost everything I'd expect. A few times m there have been quirks related to macOS encryption, new version, remote login, but they've fixed everything eventually and for new OS releases they're usually ready on or around launch date.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Mac and Windows management, RADIUS, Google Workspace sync. One stop shop for a lot of management simplifies onboarding and exits.

Simple to use

  • April 28, 2021
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It was easy to setup and the interface is simple. It's easier to manage as a small company. Not having to deal with active directory and managing servers is a big plus for us.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some things are missing or don't always work how you expect them to. There isn't as much of a community so finding answers online can sometimes be difficult if not impossible. A lot of times when I search for an answer the top results are written by JumpCloud sales. They'll mention the thing you searched for and how it can be so great for your company, but they won't actually give the answer. So that is a little frustrating.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
A lot cheaper than setting up and managing an AD environment. We had more or less fully moved to the cloud before covid hit, and JumpCloud was a large part of that. Because of this, having everyone move to remote work was seamless.

THE Active Directory Alternative

  • April 28, 2021
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
JumpCloud is a fantastic alternative to Active Directory. It provides cross platform device management for PCs, Macs, and Linux devices. JumpCloud also serves as an identity provider, providing password synchronization to multiple instances of Google Workspace, Office 365 / AzureAD, user devices, and to systems that utilize LDAP and Radius. You can integrate many apps with SSO and enforce password policies and MFA, and set up conditional policies.
What do you dislike about the product?
One of the painpoints we've had that JumpCloud is addressing is the need for users to reset their password when being bound to a new service like Google Workspace. We had an issue where we integrated a new Google Workspace, and in many instances, it took up to an hour for Google to recognize the new password from JumpCloud. For provisioning some services, like Slack, you are limited in what fields can be pushed from JumpCloud.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
With JumpCloud, our users are able to keep their device passwords in sync with their JumpCloud, Google, and Office 365 accounts, regardless of which device type they use. The ability to manage those multiple device types from one console and platform is a huge time saver. JumpCloud is continually developing their product, and one improvement they made was to allow connecting to multiple instances of Google Workspace. This allowed us to remove another identity provider product and use JumpCloud solely.

Very strong up and coming MDM and SSO provider

  • April 28, 2021
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like how this application both has MDM and SSO capabilities. The SSO capabilities work very well, and the MDM works excellent for both Mac and Windows applications. Some features are lacking in this MDM compared to other products such as JAMF, but the price is much lower than JAMF. The other pro that it has over JAMF is that it has SSO capabilities, so you don't have to use two different products. Some other pros that I would have for this application would be the support of zero-touch enrollment, easy synchronization of passwords on both Mac and Windows, and a grouping system for accessible identity management applications.
What do you dislike about the product?
As mentioned, some features are lacking. Some examples of that would be a more complete application management support on Mac, lack of a self-service console for installing managed apps, and it does not manage mobile endpoints such as phones or tablets. JumpCloud is a rather new contender on the market, and not every single need is met quite yet, but they are adding on to their product with updates frequently.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
JumpCloud is a solid option for businesses looking to move away from the classic Active Directory setup and looking for something more based on the cloud. It has excellent support for SAML/SSO applications. It features a good MDM option for both Mac and Windows systems. You can easily set groups for easy Identity Management, so you may effortlessly provide different applications to users according to their role or their individual needs.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Be patient for different features as they do listen to their community of users. There is a lot to gain from going to a full cloud directory instead of relying on Active Directory for everything.

Everything we need to avoid traditional AD

  • April 28, 2021
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Having a service like this that makes simple to setup multiple OS on distributed networks around the globe. Instead of forcing everyone in the company to move systems or profiles to accommodate a standard AD system
What do you dislike about the product?
As with any AD convincing old school CTO's and CEO's that this is the better way
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Multiple OS' and distributed locations, and integrations into Gsuite and office
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Take the free account for a spin. 10 users and 10 servers were enough for us to see the Value.
