Perfect replacement for Active Directory and if you want a centralised system for central management

  • June 08, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Active Directory replacement
LDAP integration with 3rd party devices
RADIUS integration with 3rd party devices
Single pane of glass for managing everything, including users, devices (including MDM and Android), policy management and more.
What do you dislike about the product?
The price - I feel whilst its great to have 10 users for free, there is a huge jump from 10 users to 11 users. We've used JumpCloud for a couple of years now and recommended it to many, but as soon as we hit 11 users we had a kick in the face - an immedate $178 a month fee. It would have been much better to simply charge the 11th user onwards, not from the 1st user. I suspect this is a bit of a sneaky tactic to help compensate them for the time a user has free access. Whilst we did have 10 users for free for a while, we did pay for premium support.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We dont need to manage a complex on-premise Active Directory server. This means we can have true remote/home users without the reliance on a complex VPN back into the office AD servers. Importantly we can continue to use LDAP with our internal devices though, through the JumpCloud LDAP. We could also leverage their RADIUS system which we didn't have previously.

Seamless and Secure Identity Management with JumpCloud

  • June 08, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I recently had the opportunity to use JumpCloud, and I must say it has been a game-changer for our organization's identity management needs. I wanted to take a moment to share my positive experience with this exceptional tool.

First and foremost, the ease of implementation was remarkable. JumpCloud's intuitive setup process allowed us to get up and running quickly without any major disruptions. The user-friendly interface and well-documented guides made it a breeze to navigate through the configuration steps. Within a short span of time, we had our entire user directory synced, and our employees were actively using JumpCloud for their daily authentication needs.

One aspect that truly sets JumpCloud apart is its extensive platform coverage. Regardless of whether we were dealing with macOS, Windows, or Linux systems, JumpCloud seamlessly integrated with all of them. The ability to manage user identities and access controls across multiple platforms from a single unified console significantly simplified our administrative tasks. We no longer had to juggle between different tools or spend excessive time on repetitive user provisioning tasks.

Another standout feature of JumpCloud is its robust security capabilities. With JumpCloud's multi-factor authentication options, we were able to add an extra layer of protection to our systems and applications. The granular control over user access rights and the ability to enforce strong password policies helped us strengthen our overall security posture. We appreciated how JumpCloud actively supported industry-standard protocols, ensuring compatibility with our existing infrastructure and applications.

The customer support provided by the JumpCloud team has been exceptional. They were always prompt in responding to our queries, providing timely and knowledgeable assistance whenever we needed it. Their dedication to customer satisfaction is truly commendable.
What do you dislike about the product?
Enhanced Reporting and Analytics: It would be valuable to have more comprehensive reporting and analytics features within JumpCloud. This would provide deeper insights into user activity, authentication logs, and system usage, enabling administrators to identify patterns, monitor security events, and make data-driven decisions more effectively.

Expanded Integration Options: JumpCloud already offers integration with a wide range of applications and services. However, expanding the list of supported integrations would be beneficial for organizations that utilize niche or industry-specific tools. Providing an open API or developing additional pre-built integrations would offer more flexibility and enable seamless workflows across various systems.

Improved User Interface Customization: While JumpCloud has a clean and intuitive user interface, allowing users to customize the interface further would enhance the user experience. Providing options for personalization, such as customizable dashboards or themes, would allow users to tailor the interface to their preferences and increase overall satisfaction.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
JumpCloud has been an absolute lifesaver for me when it comes to accessing applications using Single Sign-On (SSO). As someone who regularly uses multiple apps throughout the day, JumpCloud has simplified my login experience and made my life so much easier.

Gone are the days of juggling numerous usernames and passwords. With JumpCloud's SSO, I only need to remember my primary credentials to log in to the JumpCloud portal. Once I'm in, I have instant access to all the authorized applications I need. It's a seamless process that saves me time and eliminates the frustration of constantly resetting or managing passwords.

Makes managing devices and users 100% easier

  • June 08, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Jump cloud has made it so much easier to keep track of hardware of different types, from mobile phones to desktop and laptop PCs, all from one dashboard. I can see and manage which users have access to which devices and can have user profiles and software automatically pushed based on user role and device operating system, and if a user has any issues, I can assist remotely to help them solve any hiccups they may have had along the way, it's definitely been a game changer for us
What do you dislike about the product?
Some parts of the initial setup were moderately confusing, I really think having a download link to the client installer and our key right on the main dashboard would make things a lot easier, especially when we were first starting out with Jumpcloud
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The SSO and LDAP as a service have enabled us to allow our users to use multiple services with a consistent and secure login credential saving a lot of help desk labor. Being able to have software packages and updates automatically install as needed ensures that everyone is using the same software as well as the correct version for a project

What do you like best about the product?
Easy to set the team up with access, integrate with our existing platforms and systems. Default operation is seamless, and admin console gives a good amount of flexibility.
What do you dislike about the product?
I cannot autofill the TOTP code; a minor inconvenience if auth is set up to be shared across apps within JumpCloud. This was more of a pain when we had to re-auth to JumpCloud for each additional app.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Unified MFA and groups across many applications.

Jumpcloud is an incredible resource for small businesses in the age of remote & hybrid work

  • June 08, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Basically every company needs a way to centrally manage its computer fleet to make sure computers are getting updated, people have appropriate access, you know where company laptops are, and who is using them.

The traditional solution to this would be Active Directory, but that's very expensive for a small business because you need a server a running MS Server, annual licensing, and an IT person to use it.

Jumpcloud replaces all this with a very intuitive interface, great support, and a reasonable and transparent pay-only-for-what-you-need pricing scheme.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's honestly hard to think of downsides, every time I've had an issue, I've been able to contact their support and have very knowledgeable engineers helping me.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
- remotely track computers
- enforce policies like consistent updates
- integrated with Google Workspace
- manage permission levels at both the group and individual level
- integrate with Synology file servers
