HCL Domino, even after decades, remains the best platform for business process automation.
What do you like best about the product?
A very flexible, functional and relatively fast platform for application development. The available technologies for application development allow, having an accumulated base, to create new applications very quickly on their basis. Design inheritance technology makes it easy to maintain and evolve existing applications.

What do you dislike about the product?
A very, very outdated development environment. Debugging tools also require significant modernization.
Not everywhere in the development environment there are tips on the methods and parameters of custom classes.
Not all design elements support inheritance. Not all design elements allow labels to be defined via @Forlula, which makes it difficult to localize the application.
Work with the user's calendar is not fully disclosed and implemented.
Handling some events on form elements is possible only in JavaScript.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Recently, HCL has done a lot to develop the platform:
1) many restrictions on data storage volumes have been removed,
2) increased platform performance,
3) implemented many different integrations with other platforms and systems,
4) the ability to use previously developed applications for a thick client in a WEB browser is implemented without the need for any development.

Rapid and modern application platform
What do you like best about the product?
You can create in a very fast way complex applications which leaves the competition far behind. The Domino server is very performant and doesn't need many resources, even when 1000's of users connect at the same time.
Thanks to the backward compatibility is upgrading a piece of cake. And then I'm not even mentioning the power of replication.

What do you dislike about the product?
Because Domino doesn't need a lot of maintenance, companies tend to leave the applications as is. Therefore an application can look outdated and not upgraded to the latest (web) technologies
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
A platform to build quickly powerful, performant, secure (web) applications that require low-level maintenance. The sky is the limit since Domino has a web server that lets you use the latest web technologies. Next to that, it also has a mail server...

What do you dislike about the product?
Although marketed and designed for corporations, it lacks a free email C&S, etc. interface for the residential market that can bolster support and buzz for the entire corporate product line.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Domino is solving most of our business and internal processes including a public website, ordering, billing, email marketing, email C&S, finance management, employee time sheets, etc. all of which can be accessed by a web browser or app on multiple desktop platforms and mobile devices.

What do you like best about the product?
The Security features with a lot of granularity, including support for several Server Operating Systems, a great support team and a very vibrant and active community.
What do you dislike about the product?
GUI for the fully installed client is still a little outdated (not modernized). Some musts that need to exist in every Mailing / Calendaring / Collaboration solution are missing and evaluated under an Enhancement Request site (as most software development companies do). Still, some are hardly rejected or not even considered for not having enough votes (despite of being clear MUSTs). So, it's a little disappointing.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
A basic and advanced mail tracking system with detailed ACL management and excellent usage control capabilities. Internal applications rely on it, and is also the source of authentication for other applications, providing mobility for a secure on-premise mail system.

Applications from Domino can be used for:

Modernizing the user interface is necessary.
Due to lower Domino adoption rates, integrations with currently used software programmes.
The administration's tools are a little old and awkward. The Domino administrator console hasn't changed in years, despite updates and patches.

Automation, local backups, field-level security, and encryption. Without the need for a coder, any person can customise their own personal view of the data.
I can vouch for the fact that because to its exceptional clustering capabilities, banks, tax authorities, governments, the military, pharmaceuticals, logistics, cruise lines, food companies, and more operate continuously and without concern for failure or outages.
