Innovative Visuals, But Steep Learning Curve
What do you like best about the product?
I like the visuals and the feature that it can be a living document. We can work on the same document as a team, and it’s not static, so we can always improve it as we go. Plus, it’s accessible to all employees and new hires. The initial setup was also very easy.
What do you dislike about the product?
I find difficulties in formatting and usage. It needs time to get used to it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Lucid Visual Collaboration Suite to build journey and RACI charts for process understanding. It lets my team work on a living document together, constantly improving processes and ensuring accessibility for all, including new hires.
Collaborative design has improved feature planning but still needs a dark mode option
What is our primary use case?
We use Lucidchart to map out a new API feature or a recent project or feature. When we're mapping out a new API feature in Lucidchart, we have a custom template we use, and we use it to do the design flow and task list.
What is most valuable?
The best features Lucidchart offers include real-time collaboration.
What stands out to me about the real-time collaboration in Lucidchart is the fact that multiple people can be in there at the same time.
Lucidchart has positively impacted our organization by improving our collaboration across the company.
Collaboration has improved in our organization, as decisions are made faster and there are fewer miscommunications with specific outcomes we've noticed.
What needs improvement?
I wish Lucidchart would add dark mode to improve the user experience.
For how long have I used the solution?
We've been using Lucidchart for about two years for collaboration amongst the team for future development. All of us are in there at the same time working out how the feature should work or how the flow should look, and then we'll write tasks.
What other advice do I have?
My advice for others looking into using Lucidchart is to collaborate. I would rate this product a 7.
Visual planning has improved migration mapping but now needs broader cloud icon support
What is our primary use case?
My main use case for
Lucidchart these days is for working on a plan where I am migrating from my current version of our software to the latest version. I need to compile everything that is interacting with my application, so I have to bring up all my skills to factor in every application, every call that is done using our application to ensure when we move to the new OS and software, nothing is broken, and everything is in place.
How has it helped my organization?
Lucidchart has positively impacted my organization, as we have been using it for a while. The same people are comfortable using the tool, which makes planning process flows easier than trying to work in a Word document or a similar tool that does not offer as much as Lucidchart.
A specific example of how Lucidchart made a process easier for my team is that the diagrams we created could be exported as PDF or SVG files, which we shared without losing any quality. The collaboration with the rest of the team, where we have access to only what we are supposed to, also helped us work faster rather than everyone starting from scratch.
What is most valuable?
In my opinion, the best features Lucidchart offers include the toolkits they provide, such as the icons for AWS. These features allow us to use proper service icons rather than simple plain boxes for everything, helping us effectively map out the actual services instead of getting confused.
The AWS icons and toolkits make my diagramming process easier and more effective because it is easy to explain and show to my customers which service is being used for a particular component. For instance, when using Amazon S3 for object storage or Amazon RDS for SQL, I can clearly indicate those services. If I need to show containers, I can pick those specific icons to demonstrate that, making it easier than reading it within a box.
Lucidchart also offers other specific UML diagrams that I could use, including class diagrams, before I get into the code-level details.
What needs improvement?
One way Lucidchart can be improved is by adding more toolkits like the AWS charts. Icons would be something we could look for because it is not just AWS; other cloud providers are also using the same.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using Lucidchart for over five years now, and in my role, I play a solution architect role where I have to think about the different architecture flow before I go ahead and start recommending it to my team.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
I find Lucidchart stable when I am using it.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
Regarding Lucidchart's scalability, I believe many within our enterprise are using it.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
I did not really use a different solution before Lucidchart.
What was our ROI?
In terms of return on investment with Lucidchart, I would say I have saved time. Instead of spending a couple of hours drawing a process flow in a Word document, I can use Lucidchart to do it in minutes.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
Before choosing Lucidchart, I evaluated PlantUML, which I used in the past, but it only focused on UML diagrams at the time when I used it.
What other advice do I have?
My advice to others looking into using Lucidchart is to explore all the options available and not fixate on drawing flowcharts using Lucidchart. I would rate this product a 6.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
Private Cloud
If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?
Amazon Web Services (AWS)
Great for Visualizing Workflows, But Can Be Challenging with Large Projects
What do you like best about the product?
Easy to use. Simple to make visualisations of complex customer workflows and processes. Easy to share these and collaborate with other team members.
What do you dislike about the product?
A bit of a learning curve for new users to ensure they get what they need out of the system. If you are using the free trial can very quickly run out of nodes at which point in time a system like Miro can do similar for no charge. Speed of system started to slow once there was more nodes added. When working with detailed processes this may become challenging.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I wanted to map out our entire quiet complex customer journey. Allowing this to be shared across the business to all key stakeholders.
CEO
What do you like best about the product?
The ideas are presented clearly, making the content easy to understand. The interface is also user-friendly.
What do you dislike about the product?
The free version offers only a limited set of features.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It helps me clearly organize my thoughts about the organization and is useful for process mapping.
Great Templates and Usability, But Pricing Limits Collaboration
What do you like best about the product?
Lots of image options. Helpful templates and tips. Easy drag and drop functionality. The look and feel of the tool are also superior to the likes of Microsoft Visio.
What do you dislike about the product?
The cost is the biggest barrier. Also, the requirement that collaborators must have premium.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I primarily use Lucid Visual Collaboration Suite for diagramming workflows, data flow, work processes, integration architecture, and highlighting external vs. internal information flow.
Powerful Collaboration Tool with Room for Improvement
What do you like best about the product?
I love using the Lucid Visual Collaboration Suite to map out operational workflows and visualize complex supply chain processes. It excellently facilitates coordination in cross-department planning, ensuring that our teams in operations, finance, and customer service stay aligned. The feature I enjoy most about it is its ease of use in building process maps that make even the most complicated logistics workflows understandable. The ability to collaborate in real-time by adding comments, adjusting steps, and reviewing dependencies together significantly streamlines cross-department planning. Additionally, the initial setup was remarkably easy—I was able to create an account, join my organization's workspace, and start mapping out workflows within just a few minutes. The interface is intuitive, which means I didn't need any training to get started.
What do you dislike about the product?
The main issue I encounter with Lucid Visual Collaboration Suite is managing very large workflows. Once a process involves dozens of steps and decision points, the canvas starts to feel cramped and becomes a bit slow. Additionally, I wish Lucid had more supply chain-specific shapes and templates, like standard logistics symbols or prebuilt shipment tracking flows, so I wouldn't have to build them manually each time.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use the Lucid Visual Collaboration Suite to visualize supply chain processes and coordinate cross-department planning. It simplifies complex logistic workflows, aligns operations, finance, and customer service teams, and enhances communication through clear visual maps.

What do you dislike about the product?
When working with large groups of people, managing components can become quite challenging.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
This tool allows for quick prototyping of application ideas, making it easier to bring concepts to life efficiently.
