Incident management with EASE
What do you like best about the product?
Rundeck makes it easy to create self-service tasks that help with issue resolution and diagnosis.
What do you dislike about the product?
More use case driven videos and tutorials
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
trying it out in dev env. to see the benefits of automating dev ops requests. Seems to be really standing tall to its claims !
Recommendations to others considering the product:
great tool for incident management and process automation !
Great upgrade from windows task scheduler
What do you like best about the product?
Rundeck helps us schedule, coordinate and monitor scheduled tasks across multiple target machines and various departments with a central UI.
What do you dislike about the product?
The hardest part of setting up rundeck was getting the winrm nodes to execute tasks successfully. Running tasks on windows "nodes'" is totally possible, but seems to be a less common use case than others. It requires a winrm plugin and the documentation seems thorough, but never quite works right without some fiddling/experimentation in my (somewhat limited) experience.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Like any small IT group in a growing organization, our scheduled tasks and cron jobs were starting to accumulate and 'sprawl' across many machines and operating systems. It can easily become an unruly mess to maintain if not well documented and monitored. Rundeck solves this for us by putting a (very) nice UI front end on tasks that can be scheduled are run on various machines from a single location, and reports status/failures in a user friendly way so even non-technical users can monitor or execute existing jobs.

What do you dislike about the product?
The UI could use some work. It isn't always the easiest to find your way around the product.

What do you dislike about the product?
I have no bad words for this, because as i said it helps my team.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Making good automations for easy work.
A straight-forward implementation of scheduling
What do you like best about the product?
Its simple architecture provides granular control of a task. Projects separated in folders are handy and provides isolation also with ACLs for large teams. Active Directory support for users and groups. Simple and intuitive interface. But mostly it is not a 30-day trial and node limited software. Good response on user forum for troubleshooting. Support team highly active on users issues.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some improvements on the graphical interface could be integrated. Pull down menu of a job could contain a "snooze" option. A more UX'd design.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have projects running jobs on a daily basis. Benefits are resilience and simple maintenance.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you look for an open-source solution for workload scheduling this is the best choice. No 30-day trial, node limitations, makes it the best software for a starting project.
Great automation tool
What do you like best about the product?
It is a versatile tool that can be used both for automation and for creating relatively simple UI for tasks.
What do you dislike about the product?
It can be complicated to set up properly (especially with SSL certificates from custom CAs).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Delegation of admin tasks to specific users, as well as providing a UI to admins for certain tasks.

What do you like best about the product?
the ease of its contents and applicability
What do you dislike about the product?
do not have tutorials, update courses
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?

Recommendations to others considering the product:
yes, since its implementation with a little knowledge reduces the work time
Automation tool for continuous environments
What do you like best about the product?
Easily set up recurring and triggered jobs for your continuous integration systems and activities that require strict outcome checking. Make sure your workflow is running correctly and alert those responsible for specific tasks that unexpected results occured, so to proactively take measures.
What do you dislike about the product?
If in need of complex orchestrated flows, like running parallel and sequential tasks in the same job, you might have to look elsewhere. Initial configuration can be cumbersome, especially if your systems are on a intranet that for security reasons can't be accessed by the machine that is serving Rundeck.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We switched from a non-checked deploying and sync schedule to a well-defined schedule with strict outcome verification, leading to higher customer satisfaction and a more stable architecture. With Rundeck, we could make sure that business critical tasks were executed in the right order and taking the right steps to serve what the customer needed, getting rid both of issues they had had up until that moment and preventing future issues, derived from multiple systems being integrated with each other, from arising. In the occasion that unexpected results occured, be it due to software errors or temporary unavailability of the integrated services, those responsible of the running tasks can now be alerted so that the right measures can be taken to make sure no interruption happens.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make sure you understand Rundeck workflows and your current infrastructure allows you to make use of the way it handles tasks on machines.
Happy customer
