One Stop Shop for Self-Service Automation Tasks
What do you like best about the product?
Rundeck is open source software that helps you automate routine operational procedures in data center or cloud environments. Rundeck provides a number of features that will alleviate time-consuming grunt work and make it easy for you to scale up your automation efforts and create self-service for others. Teams can collaborate to share how processes are automated while others are given trust to view operational activity or execute tasks. Rundeck allows you to run tasks on any number of nodes from a Web-based or command-line interface. Rundeck also includes other features that make it easy to scale up your automation efforts including access control, workflow building, scheduling, logging, and integration with external sources for node and options data.
What do you dislike about the product?
One thing i don't like about rundeck is, it doesn't have single sing feature with the regular open source free version

Architected, Installed Rundeck software on Unix/Linux based servers on both on-premises and on the AWS cloud infrastructure. Currently, we have more than 50 users using the tool across multiple teams and projecting this to grow to more than 200 users in next couple of years.
Automated jobs(XML/yaml) which targets more than 200 servers to manage administrative tasks like service restarts, cache clear, clean-up actions (getting space back), booting VMs, cron jobs, etc and also more complex tasks like server patching or BI data processing jobs.

Awesome automation software
What do you like best about the product?
We used RunDeck for 2 years on my team to automate Sysadmin and DevOps tasks, such as cron jobs. The best thing about RunDeck is that it's free and open source and you can install it on your own machine. It's also easy to use and compatible with ansible.
What do you dislike about the product?
A simple installation can take too much resources on a self installed instance.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We used to run dozens of cron tasks on a distrubuted server cluster, rundeck make it easier and we can manage how everything's going on a single place.
Delegate IT process to development departments
What do you like best about the product?
I love give development department the ability to be autonomous, and make them able to deploy environments by their own.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't like the user interface of Rundeck it is really old-style.
It is not really intuitive

Recommendations to others considering the product:
It makes easy for IT deparments delegate some tasks to other internal deparments, like development or QA teams, for instance deploy releases to preproduction or staging environments.
It makes easy to deploy automatic and iterative tasks on several hosts, allowing to group them and making easier boring maintance tasks.
These two features, makes than IT deparment, could dedicate more time to innnovate or find additional improvements, in place of doing task that can be delegated to other

Rundeck CI/CD
What do you like best about the product?
Good role management, easy to launch distributed tasks, good ansible plug-in.
What do you dislike about the product?
Editing jobs can be sometime quite painful. It should have better integration with git.Not that much plug-ins as jenkins
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Rundeck solves us problems with continues delivery and distributed configuration management. It allows to configure well different roles for each stage like dev, qa, pre, pro...
Automate the tasks as much as possible
What do you like best about the product?
Rundeck UI is easy to use and understand.
Using the fine grained ACLs you can let your users access only what they need to.
I also like the way you can follow workflows during execution.

What do you dislike about the product?
The main downside of Rundeck is the difficulty to change temporarily the steps of jobs using for example calendar constraints.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Rundeck to automatize as many process as possible. Among them :
- deploying to production our apps
- refreshing data accross environments
- starting / stopping apps
We also use it on a daily-basis in our exploitation team to fix known issues.

Recommendations to others considering the product:
Rundeck is easy to handle. Consider splitting your complex processes into simpler parts : this will be implemented as jobs in Rundeck which may contain steps, It's up to you.
Anyway, Rundeck is powerfull enough to cover a lot of needs : deploy, CI, self service scripts, commands... you'd rather give it a try.

I'm automate and sheduled centrally some tasks like OS updates. I use it as ansible central location and console to run playbook easly.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Use rundeck because it could make your life easier centralizing configurations and automations.
Overall good product
What do you like best about the product?
The most useful part of Rundeck is that it is user-friendly enough that somewhat non-technical users are able to create and adminster their own scheduled jobs.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish there was a way to see an overview of scheduled jobs, perhaps a calendar view that displays the upcoming jobs. There are times when I would like to perform server maintenance, but it's difficult to determine when the next window of non-scheduled jobs would occur.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Before implementing Rundeck, users were logging directly into the server and creating their own cron jobs. This began to cause maintenance (not to mention security) issues. By providing a relatively simple web application to allow running jobs, it has simplified my life as an administrator.
