Makes deployments easy and repeatable.
What do you like best about the product?
Logs and ease of use. The ability to repeat tasks easily. I am able to create a single task that can then be linked by our jobs to help eliminate duplication of jobs.
What do you dislike about the product?
Mobile version unable to use. The modal is unable to be used because it is blocked out by the grey box.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Deployments and auditing.
We automate and Rundeck Orchestrates
What do you like best about the product?
We have been using Rundeck with Salt Module for everything. Deploying ARM temaplates, Terraform, Chef policy update, Domain Password resets etc for our daily IT automation and we are able to . Thanks ton Rundeck Team.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't think I dislike anything about it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are able to Orchestrate daily jobs like password resets, Chef Policy update, ARM template deployment. So user doesn't have access to real environment and password but Rundeck helps users to achieve end goal.
Great tool for automation management
What do you like best about the product?
Relatively intuitive. Once you set up your service, creating automations is pretty easy.
Users with no prior knowledge can execute jobs easily.
Great solution for centralizing all your automations in one place.
Log history and statistics for all executed jobs.
Great support team.

What do you dislike about the product?
There are still some missing features I need and takes a long time to add them.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Running automations on multiple servers from a centralized location.
Most of my team members don't like running scripts or other tools via command line, so rundeck's UI is a great solution for them to run automations and reduces the load off of me.

Generally good software but still quite a few bugs
What do you like best about the product?
Open source software, generally behaves how you would expect.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are still quite a few bugs in rundeck and responses from support are generally lacking technical expertise.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Auto -deploying released software into our CIB and Production environments. 99% of deployments are now automated.
Best tool for self service operations
What do you like best about the product?
I like the ease of integration with other infra tools, the security model, infrastructure as code using git plugin and API completeness.
What do you dislike about the product?
I missed all the time default value for drop down options: https://github.com/rundeck/rundeck/issues/4619 and a simple way to pass output from one workflow step to another.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I was able to easily create self-service operations flow which remove the burden from operations team.
Experience with Rundeck
What do you like best about the product?
Ease of Use. Every organization need a tool which can provide the following:
1. Allow sysadmins to do their daily Administration work easily.
2. Allow easy and quick Automation.
And Rundeck provides these two functionality.

What do you dislike about the product?
Basic Authentication mechanism which is saving the servers list with hostname & username in config file. For a organization where everyday new servers are getting provisioned this is a headache. I know we can chef or salt plugin to automate this but those two plugins doesn't have very good documentation like how to handlesalt return response parsers etc. because of which very hard to implement and unfortunately rundeck support is also not very helpful when you approach to them how to implement it.

The above plugins are comunity plugins and they must be rundeck official plugins with good tutorial on how to implement these.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Daily automation with powershell or shell script run by rundeck on the target vms.
Rundeck Enterprise
What do you like best about the product?
Integration with other tools such as puppet and JIRA, though we are still working out how to configure it all.
What do you dislike about the product?
How hard it is to configure nodes, there should be an option via the GUI
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Give users the ability to restart applications without having to give them root access to the servers.
It needs some improvements
What do you like best about the product?
It is light weighted and easy to run. It is good to automate tasks scripts etc
What do you dislike about the product?
It's integration is not generalised like all other tools support is a big issue.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are automating cloud deployments
A great tool for infrastructure monitoring and alerting
What do you like best about the product?
Great service for DevOps and SRE. Customizable notifications policy and multiple integrations available.
What do you dislike about the product?
The mobile interface could be improved.
The schedule feature in the web application is confusing and it's pretty easy to make an overwrite in a wrong way.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Implement a solid alerting system for our infrastructure and implement on-call rotation very fast with a set of great tools out of the box.
Does what you'd expect but not better than the competition
What do you like best about the product?
PagerDuty was very easy to move to and integrate with slack. For my organization, the slack integration was a must.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's more expensive and has a less verbose feature set than OpsGenie. For my organization, the move to OpsGenie has empowered better customized alert management that scales across the diverse needs of our organization.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
1) The ability for operations people to quickly be paged after-hours about production alarms.
2) Product teams have the freedom to rotate alert management according to whatever system they want to use (goalie, etc). We can also silence these after-hours for teams that are not on call.
