Increased visibility across the org with regard to uptime and system stability
How using pager duty helped to solve production issues right away
What do you like best about the product?
The ability to integrate with different clients such as Slack or HipChat. The mobile apps, the filtering and different customization options.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only downside of using pager duty is that you have no excuse to miss a production issue!

We get instant notifications. This helps us to tackle any major issue right away which could cause potential disasters in our application.

Having just one person as on-call, to whom the PD will be sent.

What do you like best about the product?
We like the ease of scheduling overrides as well as the scheduling itself. We love that you can use a variety of methods to get data into PagerDuty in order to create alerts. The mobile app is great and it is extremely easy to use.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some of the better features are not present in the basic subscription including incident grouping. We would also like to be able to customize the severity of a service or alert so change notification times.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The aggregating of alerts and the notifications to various on call team members. The escalation policies are nice and we benefit from having team members notified immediately of problems.

Ensure that you know which services and what customization you will need as it will affect the pricing tier that you will be in.

The user interface can be cleaned up more as for trying to manage schedules and swap on call rotations

We are able to prioritize and submit work to the correct teams based on the ticket

If you are relying on your system to be optimal pagerduty is a must

i could have this on my android phone. you can use the web or integrate this to a slack (a chat application)

I like how versatile Pagerduty is in allowing me to set up various services to throw a page when necessary.

Lack of a PC Based app to allow me to handle incidents directly from my desktop.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Pagerduty is configured to alert me when critical events occur, it sits on top of other logging and notification systems I have so it alerts me and my team whenever something serious has occurred.
As an engineer that gets woken up at night by this product - its fantastic!
What do you like best about the product?
Intuitive, easy to use interface and a multitude of pre-wired inputs makes it easy to start using Pagerduty and then when you are using it regularly some of the fantastic new features like response plays make it a dream. It really is the best thing to be woken up by!
What do you dislike about the product?
The only negative is the steep cost!!!!!

On-call rotations, alert aggregations and more recently, assigning alerts to the correct teams

Just try it! You won't look back

I run a Client Support team. Getting in contact with the Developers & Operations is essential to our job.
What do you dislike about the product?
Running out of licenses, especially when there are new team members to add to the rotation.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Accountability; people can't hide from issues because of the visibility PagerDuty provides.
