What do you like best about the product?

Descope made it really fast to get auth working for a prototype. The visual flow builder let me set up sign-in and passwordless login without writing a lot of boilerplate, and the SDK was simple to drop in. For a solo founder, being able to change login flows without touching code is a big time saver. Their startup program is also generous, which matters a lot early on.

What do you dislike about the product?

The main downside is the smaller community compared to bigger auth providers, so when I hit an edge case there were fewer tutorials, forum answers, and examples to lean on. The flow builder also has a bit of a learning curve at first, since you need to understand how flows, screens, and conditions connect before it clicks.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?

I used Descope to handle user accounts for an experimental project. It saved me from building sign-up, login, and session handling myself, so I could spend my time on the actual product instead of auth plumbing. As a solo founder, not having to worry about security details like password storage and token management was the biggest benefit, and it let me get a working prototype in front of people faster.

What do you like best about the product?

Descope takes authentication off our plate. Onboarding a new enterprise customer’s SSO is a configuration change, not an engineering project. One login page sends each user to their own company’s identity provider.

What are the upsides?

* Every auth method in one place: SSO, passkeys, magic links, OTP
* Roles, permissions and custom tokens that fit a multi-tenant B2B product
* Much faster to ship enterprise-grade auth, so the team stays focused on our core product

Complex flows can get hard to manage in the visual editor, but it’s a small trade-off for what we get

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?

Descope handles authentication for our multi-tenant B2B product. That covers enterprise SSO for each customer, login methods, sessions, and roles and permissions. Without it, we’d have to build and maintain all of that ourselves.

The benefit is that each new enterprise customer’s SSO is a quick configuration change instead of an engineering project. Customers get a secure, polished login from day one, and our engineers stay focused on our core product instead of on auth.

What do you like best about the product?

Visual workflow orchestration: the drag-and-drop workflow lets teams design, test, and adjust user authentication settings without having to write the backend logic themselves.

What do you dislike about the product?

While the visual builder works well for standard flows, it can be challenging to debug complex branching logic and state-related issues when an execution fails partway through a journey. On top of that, the documentation for advanced customizations and non-primary SDKs tends to lag behind the core TypeScript libraries, which sometimes forces me to open support tickets to resolve edge cases that really should be covered in the docs.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?

Traditional password-based authentication was causing high drop-off during sign-up and generating frequent account-recovery tickets. Descope addressed this by making modern passwordless options (WebAuthn, passkeys, biometrics, and magic links) straightforward to integrate directly into our front-end client. Since adopting it, login friction has dropped noticeably, onboarding finishes faster, and credential-reset support requests have been practically eliminated.

What do you like best about the product?

The Flows builder is the best part of Descope. The UI is clean and visual, so I can map out the full auth journey - signup, passwordless login, social login, MFA, and SSO - without writing and maintaining a lot of custom authentication code. It makes iteration much faster when product or security requirements change.

The integrations are also a major strength. Descope supports the identity providers and auth patterns I care about, including social login, SAML/OIDC SSO, MFA, and APIs/SDKs for embedding flows into an application. That reduces the amount of glue code and infrastructure I need to own.

From a performance perspective, authentication feels reliable and responsive in normal use, and having the identity logic managed by Descope means I'm not spending engineering time maintaining my own auth stack. The ROI comes from faster implementation and less ongoing maintenance: I can spend more time on product work instead of rebuilding login, sessions, RBAC, and multi-tenant access controls.

Onboarding was straightforward for the core flows, and the documentation plus support helped when I needed more specific implementation guidance. I also appreciate the direction they are taking with AI and agentic identity - being able to think about both human users and AI agents in the same identity platform is increasingly relevant as more products add AI-driven workflows.

What do you dislike about the product?

The visual builder is great for standard flows, but more advanced or highly customized journeys can take extra time to understand. The documentation covers common use cases well, though I would like deeper examples for edge cases, complex integrations, and advanced customization.

Pricing is reasonable compared with the engineering cost of building and maintaining equivalent auth infrastructure in-house, but it is worth modeling carefully as usage grows - especially for teams with high user volumes or more complex enterprise requirements. Some parts of the admin experience could also be more intuitive, particularly around auditing and managing more advanced configurations.

I needed secure, flexible customer authentication without building and maintaining it myself. Descope lets me offer modern login options - passwordless, social login, SSO, and MFA - while managing users, roles, sessions, and multi-tenant access through one platform.

Incredibly easy to set up, prototype, and productionize

We have not ran into any blockers or issues. Their team and product is awesome

Multi tenant auth - we didn't have to build complex flows or MCP oauth thanks to them

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?

The entire provisioning, auth, design for login, multi tenant and M2M & apps, custom attributes and RBAC - now we just need to manipulate auth provider in code, everything else done in almost zero effort.

What do you like best about the product?

Descope’s WYSIWYG flows are a game changer. They make authentication flows easy to build and scale, even for millions of customers. The wide range of integrations and connectors covers pretty much everything, and it comes at a very affordable rate for startups and enterprises alike.

What do you dislike about the product?

The dashboards and audit logging could be improved; they sometimes feel non-intuitive to work with.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?

We’ve spent a lot of time using Self Service SSO, which has helped us onboard customers by handling authentication so we can focus on what’s important. The support is genuinely excellent and makes sure our needs are taken care of, which lets us stay focused on the important stuff.

What do you like best about the product?

It was very easy to use and implement. After the initial configuration, integrating additional applications with Descope authentication was straightforward and required little effort.

What do you dislike about the product?

I can’t think of anything I didn’t like—Descope is good overall.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?

We have multiple in-house applications, and we didn’t have a solid solution for centralized authentication and authorization. Descope made that possible for us.

What do you like best about the product?

I really like Descope for the 'out of the box impersonation' feature. It lets us see the app through the eyes of our customers and spot bugs and issues fast. I also appreciate that everything worked fine for us and the initial setup was very easy, making the experience smooth and satisfying.

Descope provides a reliable solution for authorization, user management, and multi-tenancy. It also offers out-of-the-box impersonation, allowing me to see the app through customers' eyes to quickly spot bugs and issues.

What do you like best about the product?

Descope has been a great fit for our multi-tenant B2B authentication needs — we use it for social login and SSO, multi-tenant user management, and RBAC policies. Flows have also been genuinely helpful for us: our login page is powered through a Flow, and even without heavy customization it’s been easy to make quick changes and iterate without much engineering effort. The overall experience has been seamless in production so far, and the platform has been consistently available. The docs are detailed and typically sufficient to self-serve, and the team is very responsive whenever we have questions or need help. We also like how Access Keys and unified JWTs work seamlessly with Flows and RBAC, making it easy to handle different identity types (including test users) consistently.

What do you dislike about the product?

We ran into a couple of rough edges while setting things up — particularly around Microsoft social login and fine-grained whitelabeling options for the Flow-based hosted login page. That said, the Descope team was proactive and provided timely support to help us resolve these at the earliest, and we haven’t had major issues beyond that.

We use Descope as the authentication provider for our B2B application, primarily using Flows for login, social and SSO authentication, and multi-tenant user management with RBAC policies. We also use Access Keys and a unified JWT approach across access keys, real users, and test users, which makes protected flows and RBAC enforcement consistent across all identity types. Overall, Descope helped us avoid building and maintaining authentication in-house, enabled us to ship quickly, and gives us flexibility to evolve the login experience as our product and enterprise needs grow.
