Effortless, Secure, and Dev-Friendly Authentication at Last

  • May 01, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
1. Customers can roll out SSO on their own—no Customer Success or Solutions Engineering support required.
2. Sophisticated authentication flows can be designed on the fly, with zero lift from the R&D team.
3. Comprehensive auditing and alerting are built-in and ready to go.
What do you dislike about the product?
A small hurdle was generating PDF versions of the SSO guides that kept their dynamic details intact, so customers could forward them to their internal IdP admins—who don’t have platform access—letting those teams handle the setup on their own.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Descope removes the heavy lifting of building and maintaining authentication by giving us an all-in-one, passwordless-ready platform for SSO, MFA, risk checks, and customizable login flows. That means our engineers focus on core features instead of auth code, our security team gains unified auditing and real-time alerts, Customer Success spends less time hand-holding SSO setups because customers can self-serve, and users enjoy friction-free sign-ins—ultimately accelerating releases, tightening security, and slashing support tickets in one move.

Super customizable, super easy auth solution with amazing support

  • April 16, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Descope has been a great experience so far. The UI is super easy to use, and it’s honestly one of the most customizable tools I’ve worked with. Whether you're a developer or more into no-code, it just works. Setting up sign-up and login flows feels more like building with automation tools than coding an auth system from scratch, which is exactly what we needed.

One thing I really appreciate is the support. The community is active, and the Descope team actually responds quickly and helps you out—even if you're not on some huge enterprise plan. We ran into a few tricky implementation issues and they were right there to guide us through it.
What do you dislike about the product?
If I had to nitpick, I’d say the naming and terminology can be a little different from what you might be used to with other platforms. It took a bit of figuring out at the beginning, especially around access keys. But once you get it, it’s smooth.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We needed a modular authentication solution that could be used to consolidate authentication experience across multiple application. Furthermore we were interested in reducing our security risk by not storing user passwords. Finally we were interested in easy implementation of social login with g-suite and microsoft to make the login experience more seamless for our end users.

What do you like best about the product?
Descope made onboarding incredibly easy—I was able to completely replace my previous auth service in just two days. Their team is highly responsive and worked closely with me to ensure everything was production-ready. The documentation is clear and well-structured, making it easy to self-serve and implement features without friction. Overall, a great experience!
What do you dislike about the product?
One challenge I faced was with supporting external API keys, which wasn’t as straightforward as I expected. Some additional guidance or examples in the docs would have been helpful.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Descope helps us manage authentication and authorization across multiple tenants in our product. It also enables secure authentication for service-to-service communication and supports external API keys for user access.

Fully featured IAM Solution for Enterprise SaaS

What do you like best about the product?
Descope has been an ideal fit for Aptly’s identity and access management. Its login flows builder made implementation flexible and smooth, allowing us to integrate SSO, SCIM, and directory sync without heavy engineering effort. The flexibility to support multiple authentication methods (passwordless, social, MFA, etc.) ensures that our clients have the capabilites that enterprise customers expect. Additionally, Descope’s team has been highly responsive and supportive, making the implementation a very good experience.
What do you dislike about the product?
There’s little to dislike but if I had to point out one area for improvement, it would be ensuring all documentation is up to date (understabdably difficult when featue release quickly) and expanding documentation with more advanced implementation examples.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Descope provides a single solution for identify and access management (IAM) with advanced features that enterprise clients like those of Aptly expect such as SCIM integration/directory sync, and detailed audit trails.

Leveraging Descope reduced burden on our engineering team and enabled features that would have otherwise taken us much mroe time and effort to implement, namely fine grained authorization (FGA).

What do you like best about the product?
Easy to integrate, tons of needed features and use cases, slick desing, startup program.
What do you dislike about the product?
I honestly cant find anything that I don't like about them.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Descope took all the CIAM effrots from us, allowed us to not write a single line of code for any of the use cases of tenants, users, api keys management.

NO BRAINER!

What do you like best about the product?
Have a best-practice, best-of-breed AuthN/AuthZ platform for your product is just a non-negotiable in 2024. To do this in a way that also stays current with the current threat landscape is difficult to do if this specific area is not your core competency. Descope has allowed us to achieve this bar with a surprisingly simple integration effort. No, rolling your own solution here is not a good idea or faster.....stop thinking about it.....choose Descope.
What do you dislike about the product?
I've had hands-on experience with Descope in two organizations now and I have not encountered an issue that was not addressed by their team or roadmap.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Flexible yet standards-aligned AuthN/AuthZ platform for out entire product portfolio allowing us to shift our focus to our distinctive competencies and move faster in those areas without sacrificing quality/security.

Excellent experience with Descope for client authentication

  • January 09, 2025

What do you like best about the product?
The personal and extensive (read: unlimited!) support from Michael Rimboim and the Descope team is what made my experience excellent.
What do you dislike about the product?
It was not easy to onboard with Squarespace- but we did it and it's working great!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are making log in to the online library and membership sign up way more secure than it was. We also were able to take alot of manual labor away from a volunteer team of librarians running the library.

Solid tool, great customer service

  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Customer service is very responsive and supportive. Solution is very flexible to meet custom needs and has lots of features.
What do you dislike about the product?
There's definitely a learning curve and some features/use cases seem to only be supported using Flows, not API/SDK. Flows can do pretty much everything though, so that might not be a con if you're OK with the no code approach.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Allows us to handle lots of different custom use cases for both retail and business customer identity. Provides us with confidence in our CIAM and that we will be able to keep up with changing landscape as CIAM and MFA approaches evolve.

Taken a huge headache off from me

  • December 11, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Once configured, this is a superpower, especially for a small startup.
We implemented it to comply with one login requirement, and all of a sudden, we found plenty of other ways to take advantage of it.
What do you dislike about the product?
Coming from virtually no experience or knowledge on the subject, it was a pain to really understand all of its aspects, and since our setup is quite unique, we had to spend a lot of time making it work.
The support team has gone out of their way to help us. At one point, three team members were consulting with us, and one of them continually followed up until we reached success.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We had a bunch of tools connected together to allow logins with MFA and some SSO. moving to Descope, most of those tools became irrelevant, we have now one point of entry for all future users, and this entry point can be configured to receive tons of login options, and already allowed us to implement IP filtering per user without any code.

A former customer identity specialist who loves Descope

  • December 08, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Having been a customer identity specialist for years, I knew I wanted a solution to handle the authentication for my new application. I previously worked for a leading company in the space, but I couldn't justify their price point of several dollars per user just for authentication (there are so many other costs that go into building, hosting and maintaining an application). However, I wasn't willing to compromise on quality just to save money, so I explored all of the competitors I was familiar with before selecting Descope.

Descope was easiest to use, had the features I needed and made it easy to do everything from setting up different user flows, to creating different development environments. Plus, as we scale their price point is appropriate and doesn't require ridiculous negotiations to get to a reasonable dollar amount for the authentication portion of the application .
What do you dislike about the product?
I'd love to see Descope continue to expand the pre-built integrations they have, but this is something I can manage around by working with the APIs of the apps myself while Descope continues to expand.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It handles all of my authentication flows including login, sign-up and user registration for protected pages that require signup prior to access.
