How Anaplan provides a success planning model
What do you like best about the product?
App hub is the part that I like best that can provide people a high possibility of viewing potential functions they will have and give users flexibility to download and reconfigure based on business requirements. Also, the dashboarding is a very good feature that Anaplan has, it provide the possibility that user can see the immediate impact derived from the driver or assumptions. There's no need to move across a bunch of sheets to visualise the result.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only thing that I would say dislike for Anaplan is the new user interface. It's a good feature that provides better user experience but not all functionalities are well developed so far, some functions of traditional dashboarding are not supported in the NUX. Therefore this is a part that Anaplan can keep developing and provide more possibilities.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We solved a bunch of problems that clients have. The key benefit that we can take from Anaplan is the well organised planning approach for each end user roles. It's not a tool developed for single admin or only for CEO, it takes care of all users and provide very good navigation and path for everyone in the company. Also, the dashboard collaborates necessary information in same place that users can easily navigate or move to the page that they'll need to use or review.
Worked with Anaplan as a Partner for 3 years.
What do you like best about the product?
I like how easy it has been to connect multiple Anaplan models together so business data can be shared easy between groups. It has been seamless for users around the world to be in the system and collaborate.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is not the best system for visualizations. Users often cannot view the data in formats that they would like, and there are sometimes functionalities that they see in excel that do not carry over into Anaplan that makes it difficult for them to view the data.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am working with financial reporting and the problems we have been tackling are eliminating large excel files that need to be updated by global users. The benefits have been to consolidate large amounts of data, run calculations against them, and have users all over the world be able to quickly view and assess their financial reports.
Anaplan is a Cloud-based Multi-Tool
What do you like best about the product?
Anaplan's flexibility, ability to work at scale, and its extensibility make it an excellent tool that can be applied to large-scale business processes and more granular operational processes alike.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's licensing/pricing model. It's very confusing to both partners and customers, makes it harder to sell services than it should, and since those conversations occur towards the end of the sales cycle, it can create unnecessary tension between the partner and customer.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I currently use and implement Anaplan to solve all kinds of problems for a variety of our clients. Most use cases have been within the FP&A, Supply Chain, or SPM areas of our clients' organizations but have also entailed some Call Center Planning, Contract modeling, and other interesting implementations. The primary benefits we've realized have been more efficient planning cycles that require less time and produce better plans, unleashing more creative potential in our clients' teams from increased collaboration in Anaplan, and enhanced analysis from greater transparency in the modeling and planning process.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you're a partner, make sure you understand the licensing model so that you can help the client understand it and avoid potential issues coming from the Anaplan AE.
Otherwise, if you're considering Anaplan as a user just make sure to go through the Level 1-2 trainings, at a minimum. It will give a solid foundation to understanding the platform and the underlying technology.

Anaplan is a fantastic planning solution for business focused teams
What do you like best about the product?
It is simple to build (point and click instead of writing code). It is fully customizable. It can be architected to build any train of logic. Therefore it forces the business to truly understand itself when building models. So not only does Anaplan helps teams plan more effectively because it puts structure around their process, but it also allows businesses to think thru, collaborate on, and develop the logic of their business in more details terms.
What do you dislike about the product?
Anaplan has a tendency to talk the talk about a year before they can walk the walk. This causes many customers to become frustrated when they hear that new functionality is available, but the model builders tell them it is not actually in a useable format yet. However this is not all downside, because it prepares customers for the exciting new changes that are coming to Anaplan.
Also, since any logic can be built in Anaplan, if builders are not careful, it is easy to build an overly complex solution that ends up failing in the end because it cannot adapt to the changing nature of the business. However if builders are thoughtful, it is a great tool to build solutions with the right amount of complexity and pair them with sound business processes.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Sales forecasting, P&L forecasting, new item development, and marketing budget planning. Teams collaborate more efficiently, use one source of truth instead of many competing versions of the data, and understand their business more deeply.
I would recommend Anaplan because it is a better way to model.
What do you like best about the product?
Due to Anaplan's architecture, when building a model you can focus on the model and dont have to worry about the container, like you have to do in excel. Dragging rows and formulas for example.
What do you dislike about the product?
Because of the architecture, some relatively simple tasks in excel are much harder to accomplish in Anaplan.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I have solved complex cash flow calculations with Anaplan, the benefits received are better, more timely data.
Similar to Excel but much more useful functionality
What do you like best about the product?
The automated summing of hierarchy lists
What do you dislike about the product?
The rigid nature of native time settings
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Gathering data/ information over many dimensions very efficiently
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Very easy to use and adopt
Premium User experience, Ease of use along with Powerful core is what works really well for Anaplan.
What do you like best about the product?
Wide knowledge-base and timely efficient delivery are one of the best resources available.
What do you dislike about the product?
Currently still evolving with upcoming updates and feature, more flexible lifecycle management along with more real case functions will benefit platform more.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Anaplan is versatile and applicable among multiple use cases. Have seen practical application of Territory Planning, Staffing and Data Hub scenarios.
Simple, powerful, and easily leveraged
What do you like best about the product?
The best part about using Anaplan is the ease of connecting models & various use cases into a consolidated format for the end users. For example, a P&L can be the backbone of a reporting model with smaller calculation models that feed the end result. This allows the models to be more granular in nature without affecting the main submission model and reduces performance impacts on the main model.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some functions are limited (like subset of versions, subsets of users), but there are workarounds that the community has suggested. The roadmap is constantly developing and we are seeing some issues addressed with the releases. One major aspect that is recently being addressed is the key word highlighting when writing formulas. It is still in its infancy and has a bit of ways to go before it can be fully utilized.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our use cases currently include aggregating a bottoms-up forecast for financial metrics, allocations of sales data for more granular visibility into performance, a bottoms-up calculation to determine COGM by product and region. It ultimately shortens time to understand where the numbers are coming from; perform allocations with minimal interaction; integrates with 3rd party platforms via APIs. We have seen a reduction in errors per forecast and time required in the model.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Spend the time upfront to flesh out your data structures & feeds - it can save you many headaches once you're knee-deep building a model. Keep a close relationship with the ones building integrations and tables in your warehouse if you don't have a resource dedicated to your team. Otherwise, it can be cumbersome to develop the proper connections for your data automation processes.
