  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Easy to learn and implement to exact business requirements, UX is clean looking and offers multiple ways to visualize; easy to integrate with ERPs and other data sources
What do you dislike about the product?
Have to be intentional with what you want to implement as it is fully custom; need to dedicate time to learning
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Ease of allowing multiple users to enter forecasts in to one central location, of which aggregations happen naturally and calculations immediately work.

How to increase data security by eliminating spreadsheets while breaking down silos

  • November 09, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Anaplan's security via self services, single sign on and central identify management allows planning teams to stop sending risky emails with attachments and to plan and review via dashboards. By leveraging Anaplan, a centralized planning tool, the forecasting teams standardize processes, democratizes data via transparent data values and as a result breaks down silos.
What do you dislike about the product?
Anaplan is currently not an out of the box solution, so implenting it requires dedication from the business. The Anaplan way, and working with partners helps organizations positvely transform their planning process, but in the end the buisness has to commit and invest in change.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Anaplan is providing transparency from start to finish in the planning process. During C-Suite reviews, if anyone asks: "where does that value come from" the presentor can drill down into the value. When previously preparing for C-Suite reviews, different parts of the organization may have calculated the same metrics with different logic or inputs, Anaplan forces the organization to provide transparency, alignment, and standardization where applicable to that planning process.

Anaplan is so impressive that I decided to make designing and working in it the focus of my career.

What do you like best about the product?
Anaplan is incredible at facilitating and coordinating any type of planning cycle. What I like most about it is that it's constantly being updated and improved upon.
What do you dislike about the product?
One downside of Anaplan is to truly get the most out of it you do still need to work with an experienced consultant. You can go at it on your own, but an experienced solution architect will enable your organization to reap the most value out of it as quickly as possible.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Anaplan has allowed me to help many companies better coordinate and expedite their monthly, quarterly and annual financial planning cycles. I've often seen these processes done almost exclusively in Excel, which can be incredibly cumbersome, inefficient, prone to human error, and difficult to audit. Anaplan helps solve for this by providing an easy-to-use interface, connected planning modules, and security and tracking around the input and approval process.

Highly Recommend for Finance, HR and Supply Chain Planning

What do you like best about the product?
Anaplan is a very powerful modeling engine. It can handle large loads of data crossing multiple dimensions and calculate them in real time. It's highly scalable and very robust
What do you dislike about the product?
The biggest struggle with Anaplan has been their slow implementation of a fully functional new UX. I agree with their decision to replace the old interface, but it took several years for the new UX to get to a point where it seemed acceptable for an enterprise tool. There are still a few quirks here and there, but it is by and large a great UX.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The ability to connect data across the organization allows for very powerful planning capabilities. What Anaplan calls "Connected Planning", allows for a holistic solution to all aspects of planning. This means you're not using disparate systems, spreadsheets, emails across departments. You have instant access to a 'source of truth' that everyone is sharing and working off of together.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
process standaradization, improve planning cycle time, reduce human errors, maintain data integrity, automate data flow and enable connected planning

Anaplan: Multi-dimensional Planning Excellence

  • October 09, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Much like with many planning solutions the removal of spreadsheets, the structure of the calculations really comes forward
There's a great community of global users who are able to problem solve and provide solutions where required
Although there's a relatively steep learning curve it is very intuitive and once the basics have been achieved then it's very easy to scale
Front-end for end users is very clean and not at all spreadsheet-like
The sandbox nature of Anaplan means that any problem can be solved within the platform - if it can be done in spreadsheets then it can be done in Anaplan
What do you dislike about the product?
On massive datasets can be quite data storage heavy albeit new functionality is out to help with that
No native connectivity to other systems - requires heavy usage of APIs, ETL tooling, etc to get data from source and then onto other systems
Can be sometimes complicated to debug issues with calculations - but this is often because of poor modelling
The sandbox nature of the platform means that anything is possible and bad models can easily be created which don't confirm to best practice
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
A variety of problems are being solved within our organisation: P&L planning across business units, cost management across the whole organisation, group-level consolidation and reporting of P&L
Having a consistent tooling for cross organisation processes means that everyone knows how to do their forecasting and how information needs to be inputted.

  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
What i like the most about Anaplan is that end user can modify their input and the change and impact could show immediately so that the what-if analysis and senario planning can be done efficiently.
What do you dislike about the product?
Once the structure has been setup, there is limitations on changing the dimensions or hierarchy levels. Connection between anaplan and other system is another pain point we are facing.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Anaplan benifit us starting from workforce management and leading to an connected planning with budgeting and forecasting, sales planning , and corporate performance.

Great plattform great capabilities

  • August 22, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The possibilities to create a connected planning ecosystem with multiple use cases. the flexibillites to use multiple data sources and still connect the dots. Can be use as ETL as well
What do you dislike about the product?
The price is quite high and rigid and also a bit hard to communicate, based on GB but not regular storage but calculation engine.. more GB the more users eventhough you don´t need user.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The main problem solved is that you can have one set of data and get rid of the excel hell and version tsunamies. agreeing on data to use makes the plans owned by the entire company and not different apartments.

Anaplan really is a game changer for finance and business functions

  • August 09, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Anaplan is a fantastic tool to model complex business processes in a multi-dimensional platform, where users can collaborate in real time and sing from a single source of truth.

FP&A, Workforce planning, and S&OP are revolutionised by the way Anaplan takes large data sets and transforms them into insightful analysis, freeing up teams time to focus on value-add analysis, or to generate new revenue streams and products.

Don't pass Anaplan by if you're looking for a enterprise level planning tool.
What do you dislike about the product?
Anaplan is wonderful in many many ways, but as with any system there can be downsides. The main one is that the tool needs to be fully planned for implementation, in order to build a system that is scalable for the long term and which remains flexible to business changes.

This is where partnering with a implementation consultant like Bolt Consulting really pays off. We're ex-Big4 accountants and consultants with decades of experience between us implementing solutions like Anaplan. Go to someone you can trust to implement it right, first time round.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The core problem businesses face is in spreadsheet overload, where many complicated processes are modelled out with error prone and large spreadsheets. By pushing and automating calculations into a platform such as Anaplan you can formulate calculations and lock them down so theres no danger of someone accidently changing a reference. User access is managed at the granular level so you can be sure people only have access to what they need to have access to.
