Redgate Monitor is a great tool for troubleshooting performance issues
What do you like best about the product?
Redgate Monitor is easy to use and provides a lot of useful information without being overwhelming.
What do you dislike about the product?
I've used other monitoring solutions and unlike others, Redgate doesn't have data for sessions and a given point in time. It does have top queries for a time period which is often enough, but some times it is nice to be able to see all session data.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Performance tuning, blocking/locking/disk space and other miscellaneous alerts
It does what it says on the tin
What do you like best about the product?
The tool does a good job of providing features I wish were in the base product.
What do you dislike about the product?
At nearly the price of a SQL Server license, it's a bit expensive.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It helps track down and solve issues before they become problems.
Replaced an existing monitoring tool and it was a game changer.
What do you like best about the product?
The ability to have both a single pane of glass and custom panes of glass to monitor our environment.
What do you dislike about the product?
When using recompile on SQL statements, you may miss out on some of the capturing of statements the tool can do.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Providing specific views to subsets of users. It has provided real insights on statements where we can improve performance. The overall view in a single pane of glass helps us see the big picture quickly.
Best database tool I've used yet!
What do you like best about the product?
SQL Monitor has been a breath of fresh air for our organization. Our database team has been able to manage our very large 300+ server environment with ease. We are able to act on alerts quicker than ever and can proactively get ahead of issues. Our service center is also able to use the monitor for overnight monitoring. We are able to show non DBAs how to use the tool and they are not only able to but excited to get eyes into our most important systems. We have also been able to closely work with RedGate to influence the development of new features in the tool.
What do you dislike about the product?
Negotiating pricing. RedGate knows they are the best and charge accordingly.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Database issues. Helps us make our databases more secure and performant.
Excellent tool, but pricey
What do you like best about the product?
Redgate Monitor fulfills my needs as a DB Administrator. I can easily Monitor a large group of SQL Servers, and adding custom checks and alerts is child's playy. The support, too, is top-notch.
What do you dislike about the product?
Of course, the monitoring account needs pretty high privileges. Additionally, licences aren't cheap, but in my opinion, the value you get out of it is worth the money.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Identifying resource bottlenecks, preventing system outages, projecting future resource consumption
Intuitive and really useful for troubleshooting SQL server issues
What do you like best about the product?
We have been using RedGate Monitoring Tool for SQL servers for the past two years, every day, and since then i could form an opinion on the following:
Ease of Use:
Interface: A user-friendly interface with clear dashboards updated in real-time and intuitive navigation .
Alerting System: A very well-configured and higly customizable alerting system that displays timely notifications about performance issues or potential bottlenecks saves time and prevents problems from escalating.
Troubleshooting: Easy-to-understand performance reports with clear visualizations and actionable insights which makes it easy to identify problems. Also, plenty of refence documentation helping with the troubleshooting
Ease of implementation:
Initial setup: The installation is straightforward and supported by useful documentation.
Monitoring setup: Adding and removing servers from the monitoring dashboard is easy and straightfoarward, with documentation provided in case of issues.
Monitoring and operations:
We use RedGate monitoring tool daily to perform our daily routine checkups and to proactively monitor for any issues throughout the day, which helped us prevent and reduce the number of incidents significantly since implementation

What do you dislike about the product?
From personal experience, these are a few things that i would like to see in future versions:
Server monitoring: It would be a nice feature to be able to select the servers inside the cluster that we want to monitor, instead of having, by default, all the servers in the WSFCI added into the dashboard.
Reporting: the reporting functionality is highly useful and customizable, helping us to chose from a large variety of parameters, but it would be great to be able to have a few reports on more generic topics such as: availability group details, database information (size, location, extended properties, etc) , cluster details, user and security configuration details.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
SQL Monitoring has been helping the Database team to perform the daily monitoring checks (backups, overall health, availability, etc) within a single, user-frendly interface. It contributed a lot in proactively monitoring and preventing incidents to our environments.
All your monitoring needs in one package
What do you like best about the product?
I have been using Redgate SQL Monitor for a few years now, after testing several competing solutions, and although, it is a bit pricey (although, considering the work and continuous development invested in the application, it is NOT pricey), I strongly consider that the solution is worth every cent.
Especially when monitoring vast environments, you get a holistic view on your estate health and can easily and quickly identify if something is not working as expected so that you can proactively intervene.
Implementation is a breeze as well.
Customer support is amazing and very, very responsive.
Easy problem identification thanks to the vast amount of information available, easy monitoring of the estate at a single view.
I am strongly encouraging everyone to test this solution, as it provides a friendly overview for novice or seasoned DBAs and, not only.

What do you dislike about the product?
I consider that the updates installation, could be improved, a bit, so that the experience can reach the same level as the product itself.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
For us, SQL Monitor is providing a glass pane to check the state of the estate, to check the Agent jobs outcome, waits, performance of the servers, deadlocks, long queries, disk capacity and so, so many other potential problems that can be addressed before any impact is seen on the end-user side.
Great proactive monitoring, but difficult to set up with an AlwaysOn Availability Group
What do you like best about the product?
It proactively gathers metrics, so you have the data you need to troubleshoot even if you didn't know in advance that you would need to collect some specific metric. The analysis and alerting tools are rich and easy to use.
What do you dislike about the product?
If you have servers in an AlwaysOn Availability Group, it wants to connect to all of them as well as the load balancer. If your load balancer isn't configured to pass WMI as well as SQL traffic, SQL Monitor will fail to install. That can be a problem if you don't have permission to change the load balancer configuration.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Proactive monitoring of SQL servers in production environments. Rich data for troubleshooting problems.
Redgate SQL monitor Review
What do you like best about the product?
The software is open source and free for the people who wants to learn SQL and would like to join the SQL related professions. It is easily integrated with visual studio.
What do you dislike about the product?
The database and scripts need to be run according to the windows version, which is 64 or 32 bit. We need to open the SSMS to import the database if the size of the file is huge. It is a little annoying.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is a management tool for different Databases and has global usability. The deploy function of Redgate is quite advanced and user friendly and helps to deploy the functionalities for multiple databases.
