Veeam - Availability in virtual environments
What do you like best about the product?
As a client of the Enterprise version of Veeam, I can say quesin doubt there is a product that offers flexibility, simplicity, ease of use and speed with which the product has.
The ease with which we were able to implement our company Veeam was really amazing. The product is really fast for both installation and general operation. We are really satisfied and not even think of another product.
Also excellent including Veeam Remote Console, which allows you to work from my computer without having to connect the server through an RDP session.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing really. Only lack support pair backups of physical machines, but in 2016 vForum I learned that it will be incorporated into version 9.5 to be released Próximanente, therefore sun and totally complete product that lacks nothing.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
In my case, I have protected my entire VMware infrastructure Veeam. Besides being able to recover a VM in extremely short times, you can recover files from a particular File Server within minutes. In the case of SQL Server you can retrieve individual tables also within minutes. It really is a product that offers continuous protection and gives peace of mind to use.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Easy of use
Easy to manage
Complete solution
Completely compatible with VMware and Microsoft
Faster RPO
Wonderful!
My saving grace ...
What do you like best about the product?
Veeam backup was my rescue tool after a major disruption issue in the network. It turned out that the recovery was solely dependent on Veeam backups. After sweating profusely for a number of days, recovery became reality for me.
Thank you Veeam!
What do you dislike about the product?
nothing I have found in my experience with Veeam for my needs.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Duplicate backups stored in different places, locations automatically.
Recovery of data within a crippled network from malicious events.
lets me maintain my one person it shop in the company without too much concern of backup and recovery.(I don't think that anyone is totally without any concerns of recovery no matter what the solution being used is. , just my opinion)
Recommendations to others considering the product:
The pricing Veeam had at the time of our purchase fit our budget. The product has been easy to use but features available when needed without major issues or complications
Network Archtect
What do you like best about the product?
simple and easy & training video / documentations
user groups
What do you dislike about the product?
pricing is to high and unable to get more than one essential bundle
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
N/A
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Best image backup
Veeam provides no worry backups!
What do you like best about the product?
It is easy to setup and use, and the support has been great. We never have to worry if our backups have worked or not.
What do you dislike about the product?
The interface can be a little slow, and not all the tabs display the information you think they should.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It solved how to backup and replicate all our virtual machines without having to install clients on all of them. It has been great to just point Veeam at a Hyper-V server and have it work.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It has worked great for us, and it is well worth the money. If you are using virtualization, Veeam should be your first choice.
Daily user and administrator of Veeam
What do you like best about the product?
The simplicity of managing backup and replication.
What do you dislike about the product?
Managing the storage backing Veeam. A feature to auto balance scale out backup repositories would be nice. On slow storage the merging process can be quite long.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Exceptionally fast and reliable restores.
Amazing - feature-rich, fast, well-priced
What do you like best about the product?
We have a small business bundle that gives us backup and replication. This was the cheapest by far to other options that we priced out.
Also, the speed of the software is better than the previous software we used (by miles)
What do you dislike about the product?
Wish Exchange 2007 was still supported - support has been great finding a workaround for this, but I feel like this platform is still used a certain amount.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Shrinking backup window and improving RTO
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Try to size up the licensing costs alongside your hardware. Sometimes cheaper to reconfig/resize your sockets than buying additional licenses (or license types)
Veeam is great virtual backup utility
What do you like best about the product?
The backups are easy to setup and configure. Restores are especially super fast to restore. I also like the ability to run a virtual machine from a backup.
What do you dislike about the product?
Deciding which backup schema to use can be confusing at times. Also, we found that if you had raw disk mappings that you cannot back it up to a vault.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Quick and reliable backups using disks instead of tapes.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Be sure to buy the enterprise version.
Veeam Product Review
What do you like best about the product?
Its the top VMware backup solution in the market. They free version is excellent. Easy to use interface and setup. Backups are really fast. The quick migration feature is something I really like and it has helped me a lot when disasters happen. I like the it also support Microsoft Hyper V backups as well.
What do you dislike about the product?
Troubleshooting failed back ups or credential issues aren't easy and there's is not really much support or documentation on the Veeam site or on the internet but I'm sure in up coming releases they will address these issues.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Backups for our virtual servers. One of the benefits is being able to see virtual servers, storage and tape information for all devices on the network all on one interface.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Try it and you wont use another back up software to backup your images
By moving the Veeam server to a physical server and creating a Proxy server on each of the hosts, we are able to leverage SAN based backup which is very fast.
What is our primary use case?
Veeam is our primary backup system used with the DD2500 for the repository. We use Veeam 9.5 Update 3 on a physical Windows 2016 server with Proxy servers deployed one per host in our HA Cluster. We also use the Enterprise Plus licensing for Nimble Snapshot Integration for backups and this allows our backup window to be reduced.
How has it helped my organization?
With moving the Veeam server to a physical server and creating a Proxy server on each of the hosts, we are able to leverage SAN based backup which is very fast. Jobs are completed overnight and never run in to the business hours.
What is most valuable?
Features with the most value are Instant VM Recovery, SQL Explorer and Exchange Explorer. Allowing our Veeam Agents access to the repositories for backups is another big plus.
What needs improvement?
Physical backup is always where room for improvement could be but Veeam has always stated they are not going in that direction. However, with Veeam Endpoint Backup, physical server backup is possible.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using this solution for more than five years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
Stability has always been the best part of Veeam and never has there been an issue with this.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
The scalability of Veeam is endless depending on your needs and there were no issues for us.
How are customer service and support?
Customer Service:
Customer service is always been top notch and I rate it a 10/10.
Technical Support:
Technical support is 10/10. They are always fast with responding to tickets and help you in the best way possible. They even arrange discussions with Architects if you have questions on best practices or environment setup.
How would you rate customer service and support?
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
We still use Symantec Backup Exec but only due to having physical Exchange 2010 servers. Once we virtualize this will be decommissioned. Having Veeam Endpoint Backup may be the alternate solution to fast-track this.
How was the initial setup?
The initial setup was very straightforward and there never seems to be issues with Veeam.
What about the implementation team?
We completed the implementation in-house using local resources.
What was our ROI?
ROI has been about six months.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
Be sure as always to evaluate products, get licensing costs, etc. Choose what is right for your business model.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
No other options were evaluated as we knew Veeam was one of the better solutions for Virtual Backup.
What other advice do I have?
Veeam is a great product and always works. The product setup is easy and learning of the product for someone technical is straightforward. I look forward to the improvements in this product as it progresses.
Veeam for the win
What do you like best about the product?
Nearly instant file restores, and if I have to throw back a VM to a previous time, that is only 6 or so minutes wait, which wins big with our staff and users. Backups take less than 10 minutes, a drastic improvement over legacy technologies...
What do you dislike about the product?
Other than a few slightly irritating interface quirks, there is nothing I dislike about Veeam.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Post virtualization backups using a backup product using older "tape backup" based methods wasn't passing muster. So a choice was made to ask other districts about their choices, pros and cons. We went with Veeam, and haven't looked back.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Try it out! Put it up against the others out there, especially try it out against the older "tape" styled products. You'll be amazed!
